Don't forget crafters, real pearls have small drilled holes. But u can use a bead reamer to make holes bigger & always use a big eye needle. This is a lovely design though. I personally use faux pearls like in this video & that look fine

Have you tried Swarovski or glass pearls? They have a beautiful finish and a really nice weight. :)

The first one is 3 sizes of rounds (looks like 8mm, 4mm, and 2mm) and a length of cupchain. You can use regular round beads, (I'd recommend glass pearls. Swarovski has some really good ones) but I prefer flat-backs when doing something like this. They sit a bit better with less 'puckering' in the fabric underneath.

The second one is seed bugles and rounds (4mm and 2mm). The bugles that I found are 6mm long, too long for the ones shown. However, I'm including them as it would only take a single bead for every 3 shown.

Personally, I prefer working with #11 and #15, but that would be a bit too small here.
