The only problems with the Cretaceous Cut that aren't accuracy problems are that sometimes there are scenes where the movie pauses and they just have some dialogue. The Cretaceous Cut keeps these scenes and just has them be silent. It's kind of awkward.
@@orionmclaughlin5680 Finally, someone else who thinks the Cretaceous Cut is awkward. For the longest time, I thought I was the only one who saw that. It’s the biggest reason I prefer the dub. The dub just flows better. Not to mention it’s funny af. Oh, and the Walking with Dinosaurs Movie is not a documentary, unless you count the Gorgosaurus segment. In the dub, it is narrated by Alex, but in the Cretaceous Cut there is no narration when there really should be. It just feels incomplete.
Technically, the sauropod specie showing in this Dinodoc, Pukyongosaurus millenniumi, still, in fact, Valid ! But with the mention "Nomen Dubium" or "Dubious" in english usage in paleontology domain. A Dubious genus is a genus that we don't know if, due to the poor elements that not allow a definitive conclusion and sufficient diagnostic, he is a normal 100% valid genus or in reality a member of a already described genus described and discovered at least some time before. If it's definitely proven that the later case is what the genus is, so it is listed under the title "Invalid" (and reciving also the title of "Synonym Junior"). And not as "Nomen Dubium/Dubious". Since the exact definition of the word dubious is "Whose existence or realization is not certain". Meaning that we can legitimately have doubts on the truth or relevance of something but with the possibility that reamin possibilities and some percents where the thing in question can be, at final at the opposite of our thought, indeed true ! So, at the moment, this genus, as the same for all others extincts genus title "Dubious" must be look at as valid despite this labeling. And that, until we definitely have a definitive answer to their classification, either giving them the title of "Valid" like we originally thought or "Invalid" if there not true genus. There many genus we at some point thought to be invalid and received before, waiting new more advanged studies, to confirm and see if it's the case, that finally at the end be definitively reconized as Valid. Like the Brontosaurus we thought during many decades to be Invalid and a Synonym Junior of Apatosaurus. Which was at the end not the case at all... But I also understand why, after he received the title " Dubious" pending final confirmation, a genus is not re-used in a documentary so much after the labeling. Because if it's turn that he's Invalid, so the Documentary show a misleading information. Which is understandable in many points.

Oh yeah South Korea does kind of have a track record for making utterly garbage paleo docs. I remember there's another SK documentary about the then-newly-discovered Koreaceratops called "The Secret of Ceratopsian" and the premise is about a Koreaceratops time traveled to the present day. What's even more WTF is the fact the human caretaker character of the documentary became very attached (I'm using "attached" very loosely here). You really should review it.
Yes, though it remain as some kind of a nostalgic memory to my inner twelve, it should never be called as "documentary". Of course the production of the program was pretty dangerous challenge in Korea(not north)'s broadcasting environment at that time. However even considering that, as a "documentary" produced by a "educational broadcasting company", this one is definitely terrible utter failure. And yes i love your decision not to mention those movies. They are horribly twisted money craving abominations.
@@govardhanposina17 it was south korea's first large scale CGI based dinosaur documentary(or planned to be at least), so it had faced lots of opposition for budget, production time and technological possibilities. So they had to succeed, and that's probably why they focused mostly on childish popularity rather than scientific accuracy. Because of this and well known misplacements of mongolian dinosaurs, some serious paleo nerds in korea even regard this progrsm as some kind of nationalism propaganda.
Given that clearly nobody did much research for this, the portrayal of the Haenamichnus is interesting, as its general design, as well as the fact that it's shown probing for mollusks in mud both seem to eerily jive with outdated portrayals of Quetzalcoatlus's anatomy and ecology from the 80s and early 90s (as shown in Peter Wellnhofer's 1991 book Illustrated Encyclopedia of Pterosaurs). Given that we already had plenty of more accurate (to varying degrees) portrayals of Quetzalcoatlus and azhdarchids in paleo-media by the time this "documentary" came out, lord only knows how they wound up with an azhdarchid portrayal that harkens back so much to the 80s-early 90s.
Pointy wings as minus? Well no, even Dr. Daren Niesh said that pointy wings in pterosaurs are much more acurrate and logical in terms of aerodynamics, thats why all pterosaurs in prehistoric planet has exactly pointy wings, not rounded, - no evidence of such wings and no point of having them like this. there was a whole facebook post of him debunking that stereotype as well.

Hey, I don't know if you are aware of a Docu called Predatory Monsters. It is an "Old History Channel" Docu, wich means the models suck but I think some aspects still hold up, or maybe they did when it came out. I had a vague memory of watching it when I was twelve at most, so I went back looking for it and it is full on UA-cam. If you manage to get pass the horrible raptor in the first five minutes you will have a blast picking it apart.
Therizinosaurus feather topic, I feel like it wouldn't be hard to think that because of size, therizinosaurus wouldn't have as much feathering as shown in pop culture. It was a large animal in a environment possibly similar to New Zealand/ Southeast Asia (with fossils of Araucariaceae conifers) climate wise with high humidity with the evidence of tons of lakes/rivers. Seems like if it had downy feathers, the adult animal would overheat. I think the most probable integument for Therizinosaurus (but not the family overall) would be light feathering similar how tyrannosaurids were shown in Prehistoric Planet. I might be missing something so I could be wrong.
I have never seen someone represent dino teeth like that. Even back before we knew they had lips big enough to cover their teeth, we still knew their teeth were placed quite neatly and came from inside the mouth- not on top of the lips. This movie not only placed them OUTSIDE the mouth, but also made them super uneven and jagged with some teeth jutting out to the side and others being more straight. Super ugly. Like you said, it looks more like a crocodile than a dinosaur.

Now that I've seen the Benedict Cumberbatch version, I consider that one the best, and it's also the closest version to an actual documentary
Clash of the Dinosaurs: Yay! I'm not at the bottom!

Can I recommend prehistoric predators?
It might be easier on the Paleo Nerd sensibilities
It’s good until it gets to the causes of why everything went extinct, which bring up poorly supported (but often accepted uncritically) ideas about displacement, and even the sketchy Clovis Comet hypothesis.

Yes Dino king, the goofy kids movie featuring interspecies rape!
This was made in South Korea, my home country, dinosaur king and Tarbosaurus the mightiest ever built my childhood and my interest for dinosaurs but I’m not offended by this, even I, as a little child I found a lot of stuff that was inaccurate and a dinosaur king sequel just came out
You should definitely review “adventures of ceratops” and “dinosaur X” also made in Korea, and I think they are way better
'Dinosaur X' is the combination of 'adventure of ceratops' and 'land of the dinosaurs'(not the bbc docu lol).
And Dinosaur X has dubbing. I will not recommend it.
@@Oxal Uh, I know that, I think it’s Ok compared to tarbo…, but this one has more good stuff in it than the other, like more the expedition.
Still is heavily outdated with Many things, like dinosaur models and the idea of dinosaur X being a proto.
One reason why that is definitely better than this shit is simply for that silly race scene
Have you considered reviewing T. rex: back to the Cretaceous? I know it's more like a short movie than a real documentary but I think it would be fun to do a video about it
Oh yeah South Korea does kind of have a track record for making utterly garbage paleo docs.
Wait why was it a dangerous challenge?
@@govardhanposina17 it was south korea's first large scale CGI based dinosaur documentary(or planned to be at least), so it had faced lots of opposition for budget, production time and technological possibilities. So they had to succeed, and that's probably why they focused mostly on childish popularity rather than scientific accuracy.
Because of this and well known misplacements of mongolian dinosaurs, some serious paleo nerds in korea even regard this progrsm as some kind of nationalism propaganda.

Are you telling me, this trainwreck of a peleofilm is, 'nationalistic'? I....I don't know what to say.
12:28 That walking animation though
They all look like they're holding in diaohera.
Im not an expert but doesn't the walking of the animals in this doc look like as if their feet were constantly stuck to the ground?
You're right, they kind of shuffle or power-walk.
1:49 but it doesn’t exist in South Korea
Pointy wings as minus? Well no, even Dr. Daren Niesh said that pointy wings in pterosaurs are much more acurrate and logical in terms of aerodynamics, thats why all pterosaurs in prehistoric planet has exactly pointy wings, not rounded, - no evidence of such wings and no point of having them like this. there was a whole facebook post of him debunking that stereotype as well.
Where's the source?
Yes. Pointy wings are minus lol
You should do a review of Dinosaurs Alive! (1985). It's said to be the very first dino documentary

2. Cousin of the tyrant king
3. Tarbosaurus: the king of Asia

This documentary makes Clash of Dinosaurs look like Prehistoric Planet. And BOY do I not feel happy to say that.
I have so much to say about the raptors making a tsintaosaurus collapse scene, it’s not even funny
I know he didn’t really talk abt the roaring due to the fact that he said he wasn’t going to talk abt it, but I do feel like it is a problem. The truth is DINOSAURS DIDNT ROAR, I hate the idea of it, and always will, it has been proven that they couldn’t and if they did make kinda-roar sound, it would be very low and short.
Your videos have inspired me to peruse a career in paleontology
Hey, I don't know if you are aware of a Docu called Predatory Monsters. It is an "Old History Channel" Docu, wich means the models suck but I think some aspects still hold up, or maybe they did when it came out.

Can you make a new review ranked series about speculative zoology. The famous example is "all tomorrows".
Everyone: explain why Dino’s had lips?!
Raptor: did anyone see that because I will not be doing it again!
There's no terrestrial animal today that doesn't have lips.
Exactly
Did my comment get deleted? I cant see it? Anyway what I was saying is I agree
I immediately thought of rickraptors video
I have never seen someone represent dino teeth like that. Even back before we knew they had lips big enough to cover their teeth, we still knew their teeth were placed quite neatly and came from inside the mouth- not on top of the lips. This movie not only placed them OUTSIDE the mouth, but also made them super uneven and jagged with some teeth jutting out to the side and others being more straight. Super ugly. Like you said, it looks more like a crocodile than a dinosaur.
They look like V. Rexs from Peter Jackson's King Kong.
Even the JP T. rex who has no lips, seems like a good candidate to have them regardless
@@GaiusIntrepidus Yeah. I mean you can clearly see the JP rex DOES have lips, they just don't cover the teeth. Because nobody in their right mind ever thought that dinosaur teeth were placed in the mouth the same way as crocodilian teeth are.
