    • @Nirsterkur
      @Nirsterkur Рік тому +42

      My opinion is obviously insignificant, but my personal opinion is Thor is currently most suited for Strongman and Powerlifting, and Armwrestling could be a good choice towards late thirties or early forties.
      A few reasons: Thor is a good 4 or 5 year run away from being the Undisputed GOAT of Strongman. He has mastered his craft and with the wealth of hands on experience he has, I believe he definitely can have a truly dominant run in order to achieve that. In the middle, he can certainly have a solid 6 or 9 month Powerlifting prep and break the All time All weight classes Total WR as well. The two sports will also compliment each other well.
      If Thor goes full blown at Armwrestling: Despite Thor having all the Strength he needs as rightly said by MMT, Thor will have to learn the basics, the techniques, plus as far as I know, it takes years to develop good table IQ and quick decision making skills, plus experience also matter a lot at Armwrestling (please correct me if I'm wrong).
      I'm not being negative or pessimistic, and I'm always supportive of Thor in any decision he makes, because we all know for a FACT that he gives his absolute 100% and he will succeed. Thor's health and family are the most important elements, then comes his passion (what his heart says), how it will help to further build Thor's legacy and then of course how lucrative the chosen path may be. I will respect and continuously support Thor with every single decision he shall make.

While knowing for a fact that Thor can succeed at absolutely anything, I personally believe if Thor focus on Strongman and Powerlifting for the time being and Armwrestling towards late 30s or early 40's would be an ideal choice. The potential is absolutely off the charts. If everything went perfectly, it would still take like 3 years for them to become that real elite top level, and more for Thor and Brian since they can't dedicate their time like that, and there's maybe a cost to them losing in competitions, but LOADS of competition experience is vital. So there's some barriers for sure. Need so much table-time with a club. Then just the certain strengths that they don't yet have that take a while to build up, which goes beyond muscle strength. Tendons, etc. Then just the experience and mind-connection to move naturally and instinctively know what to do and how to counter different things (unless you got it stored like a chess player).
      But if a strongman actually did this properly, that would be so awesome.
      But then we do have big guys in armwrestling, like Alex Kurdecha and Derek Smith. Then there's been a number of powerlifters get involved, like Mendelson, Spoto a bit.
      Oh, Denis Cyplenkov was a strongman and competed against Big Loz once, and Denis was maybe the best before his hospitalisation.
      Big Loz has also gotten into armwrestling. He's the most committed career strongman in armwrestling now (he's doing it properly, club and everything). I haven't checked to see if he's still doing it after his Arm Wars match that hasn't yet been released, but yea.

    Incredible video. Super cool to see Thor progressing with how to move here. Would be amazing to see him get into it a bit more over time. Maybe in the background develop those certain muscle strengths he doesn't really have at the moment. Armwrestlers have strengths that aren't exactly used in strongman, so it's not just about technique, there's a lot of elements to it. It just takes a few years to really get there (if everything goes perfectly). But yea at least the missing strengths can totally be incorporated into a workout routine.

      Yeah. The man is still insanely strong. Deadlifting 300kg is still more than almost anyone in the world. And as he is back into strongman, that strength will only get greater.

      @@palmarolavlklingholm9684 I think because it was a rigorous training prep, Squats, Bench and Deadlifts over and over and over again, on top of the body which was not used to heavy weights for two and a half years. He definitely needs a good restful week for the body to recuperate well and fingers crossed for a 400 Raw DL on Saturday.
      Would also love to see Thor beating his 410 Raw PR in future.
