Still, I'm being hyperbolic when I said it was the "darkest ending" ever; the endings to games like "I Have No Mouth And I Must Scream" or "Soma" subjectively are way worse for me

Even tho this is obectively horrifying and that thousands of people will would be tortured by glados (if the second part of co-op didin't exist) I can't help but feel happy for glados for getting all those test subjects.
Notice that some of the things scanned are actually different from what's being scanned regularly. For example, Boxed Sentry Turrets, Atlas, P-Body, The Corrupted Cores, The Storage Cube and Companion Cube, the Fat Turret, the Franken-Cubes and the Defective Turrets.

I remember playing this whole co-op campaign from start to finish with a friend. We laughed for probably a few minutes straight when the robots start innocently dancing like “YEAH WE DID IT WE SAVED SCIENCE!”

Yeah I would agree that vavle should make a third portal which lets you roam free with the portal gun instead of all those test chambers or you should be able to make your own test chambers up. Idk the game was super short I beat both campaigns in 2 days they should have added more features in this game and more bosses
@SuperGoomba19 Just one thing - the dead humans Wheatley talked about were genuinely dead. These aren't the same ones - these were stored away in Old Aperture, whereas the ones near where Chell was kept had all been taken offline by Rattman so that there would be enough energy to keep Chell alive. ^_^ The timeline throughout Portal remains kinda fuzzy to this day, as we don't even know how long after Portal 2 this takes place (or how long the bots go in between being reassembled).
I think I got the Timeline solved: This takes place after Chell is set free at the end of the single player adventure. Without Chell there, Aperture needed more test subjects, as they are shown here. In the beginning when Wheatley says everyone else was dead, he was mistaken. They are not dead, they are being held in these tubes sleeping, waiting to be awakened to start testing. And forget the Credits. People like Chell and the Companion Cube were put in there only for comedy purposes.
The Game-Writer (who is fucking brilliant) has just pissed all over ALL the corporate drones in the world with this excellent song, love it, just luhhhhrve it!
@topituulensuu Valve will be releasing the SDK eventually which will allow people to make proper custom maps. Right now people can make custom maps but its running off the Alien Swarm SDK. Like most of Valve's games the mod'ing community will bring allot of life into the game. Single Player was for storyline, Coop was I'm going to say it was a "beta". Once the real SDK comes out expect some Portal Prelude custom campaigns for both single and multiplayer. Valve will also bring dlc out eventually
@AnAngryMidget1 No. If memory serves my right, the Gravity Gun was built off the principles of the Zero Point Energy involved in the secret research behind portal to another dimension. (You learn in Blue Shift that the resonance cascade from Half-Life was not their first encounter with the Xen aliens).

From what I can tell, Portal takes place around the same time as Half Life 2. Portal 2 takes place an unspecified number of years after Portal, its just assumed to be a VERY long time afterwards.
