My brother loved phoenix and got me into them..he passed away last year and I know he would have loved to hear these new songs. ❤❤❤❤ we would have probably listened to these songs and I can already hear him talking about how amazing every part and effort makes their songs so awesome.
That's a very bitter-sweet thing, but I'm glad you have made a positive connection with your brother's memory and this beautiful music nonetheless. Sorry for your loss.
I know how you feel, my brother passed away February of this year, it was like it wasn't real, a shock to me and my family, so painful, but I love Phoenix's music so much, it's a break from life to listen to them, but I pray you come to peace too with the loss of your brother.
Im taken back to the days when Phoenix, Strokes, Cage the Elephant, Gotye, The Neighborhood, 2 door cinema club, Crystal Castles, The Black Keys, Alabama Shakes, Daft Punk, MGMT, Cage the Elephant, Pete Bjorn and John, Digitalism, and Passion Pit hit the airwaves. Theres probably more im forgetting but MAN that was an era of bangers and its really cool to see artists like Phoenix and The Strokes not losing their sounds after all the new changes to music. Words cant describe how nostalgic and happy they made me with the new album🥹
@@mattygeno haha all good maybe not a rude comment but maybe it misses the mark of what the intent of my og comment was trying to say. Idk if they’re beefing with Gotye or what idk anything about the bands lore for the most part. Im mainly commenting that those artists i kind of neglected for a while cause of all the new music that came out. But this video was a blast from the past so I was just excited and listed all the bands I used to listen to around the time Wolfgang Amadeus Phoenix came out. Lots of bands since then changed their sound over time, some for the worse, some for the better, but this track here reminded me of that classic sound of the the late 00s and early 10s.
@@lil_keybo fair enough, but bands changing their sound is an inevitable thing, so you can’t really call it a disappointment in general. but i respect your opinion, everyone has certain tastes. but personally i love this new album a lot, sure they sound different but i happen to really like it and i agree with why they did so. but that’s just me.
Absolutely blown back in my chair. I already loved the song and the video just elevated it to a further critical realization - This is probably Phoenix's most existentially aware album, which I've come to understand is heavily influenced by personal loss and COVID separation. These factors, I think, are the reason why we got such a full tapestry of playfulness (re-uniting to record) and deep deep introspection (personal tragedy and global grief). Not pretending to know all their creative motives, just gleaning what I can from what I've read about the record. I'm tempted to say this album is their "best", but I think that may be too broad of a brush and unfair in some regards to their other masterful records... However, this record showcases masters of the craft digging a bit deeper than ever before and reminding us (and likely themselves) that they are not at all done following their own creative rabbit hole... Oh, and THEY DID MOST OF IT IN LIKE 2 WEEKS. God, man... If any of you reading this are musicians/songwriters, that kind of a snappy record-writing experience where the ideas are just pouring out, it is absolute bliss. I've had it before, it was one of the best feelings ever. Still chasing that feeling to this day. So, Phoenix, if you see this, I'm so happy for you guys that you got to experience that flow with each other and it 100% paid off with Alpha Zulu. I'm immensely inspired by it.

Not to be rude, and you have to excuse me, but knowing Phoenix, as a band, they would be upset with being in a list with Gotye

@@a7c777Totally agree with you on that!
It's almost embarassing how underrated this song and music video is.
This whole album is 🔥
Ngl this band isn't for me anymore. This album was a disappointment

Alpha Zulu is 🔥
@@IzaaculateMixes How does it sound different? Sounds sonically the same as past albums
This song is a Masterpiece.🤯 This is one of most beautiful song never heard on Earth.💫
One of your best songs! It’s Jacob from the fan line! Hi, again, Phoenix!
Such a lucky guy! I just saw the fan line and you were the first caller. Cheers!
This song makes me think of The Beach Boys trapped in a Blade Runner world.
Sublime.
The colours of the clip made me think about the album cover « Surf’s Up » by the Beach Boys somehow
I never would've thought to connect Phoenix to The Beach Boys the way you did, but I love it, it makes so much sense!
Underrated comment for a criminally underrated band!
Wow y'all ATE in both versions of this video. Song slaps
I love the visuals and colors in this music video. Both versions of this music video is beautiful
Criminally underrated.
This song hits different… so good!

Wanderer above the Sea of Fog
What a great image to invoke
@@3rdgensarah680 indeed. That great painting from Caspar David Friedrich came to my mind
@Sand I love that painting, it really captured the zeitgeist of that time, the urge to explore and wander into the abyss to discover new ideas.
This requiem played a few times before... Surely a flood of ideas emerged in these times.
😮❤️
Superbe !

This would have crushed on RAM🤖🤖
🎶 Lyrics 🎶
A restricted area
Shaped like a Petunia
Thank God you know your ways
It's on your mind
It's on all the time
And I find it hard to explain
What would you trade me for?
While this girl's playing hula hoop
Under the malicious
Winter solstice
Turn the lights on
Find me a narrative
Something positive
This requiem played a few times before
I heard it once
So I'm not sure
On the phone, "I told you"
Why open your eyes to go to bed?
Drive straight to the ocean
And see what we won't find out
Even the righteous beheaded their loved ones
Now it's hard to connect
But the world's unchained
And soon
It'll be public domain
It's too hard to remain
Astute
But I will stay
If you're detained
With you
I'll wash my hands
Until It rains
Through you
Keeping the lights on
Obliged to the bygones
Thank God you know your ways
If this time it's true
Why bother reeling you?
All this fine jewelry
Look at this diamond shaped out of glass
I try to make this Ruby shine nice
I'm trying to make a living
Is that something that you don't mind
Fine
Did you ever think it could have been in our lifetime?
So give me a ride home
Find me a narrative
Something positive
This requiem played a few times before
I heard it twice
So I'm not sure
On the phone "I told you"
Why open your eyes to go to bed?
Drive straight to the ocean
Let's see what you won't find out
Cover your eyes for Winter Solstice
Now it's hard to connect
But the world's unchained
And soon
It'll be public domain
It's too hard to remain
Astute
But I will stay
If you're detained
With you
I'll wash my hands
Until it rains
Through you
Thanks for the post.
Bro the lyrics are in the video description
