All great tips. Would have incredibly funny if you flew into the ground immediately after turning off Betty :D

Nicely done! I'm currently learning the Strike Eagle after years of exclusive Hornet flying. It's taking some getting used to but I really like the aircraft. Videos like this are greatly appreciated.

I don't want to come off as rude but "duel" is the wrong word. They sound similar but "dual" is what you were going for.
Dual - double, two of something, twice, etc
Duel - one vs one combat

Forcing burn through is capped out at shorter ranges though. Useful, but has its limitations.

It's still effective. More use if you're trying to get info at around 30-40 miles and still haven't burned through normally.

Nice tricks! Are they eventually going to come up with an AI "George" or "Jester" for the Mudhen? That would be nice to have. Also, I wonder if they're going to give us a HMD like the real Strike Eagle pilots have? I just can't find any reliable info on these and other additions

Yeah we're supposed to get TALON (Tactical Air Lock On Navigation) at some point. Some new smart AI system but it's a long way off still.
JHMCS, AIM-9X, Link 16 etc are coming later

Is the eagle in better shape now than it was on release? For example everytime I used the atg radar the module would crash

The burnthrough thing has to be a bug, right? It doesn't make any sense lol why would there be a difference in burnthrough range depending on how you got into stt

    • @StrikeWeasel15
      @StrikeWeasel15  Рік тому +1

The radar not burning through in normal STT is the bug, not using LRBST. Only way to get burn through right now. Hopefully gets fixed but I don't have high hopes given ED's shitty ECM modelling.

It's more complex than this. The two are very different. What you are seeing is not a difference in burn through, but two different tracking states of the radar.
By clicking on an AoJ strobe (the jam markers) you order the radar to lock the jammer and go straight in HoJ mode. Which it does. It will then continuously try to build a ranged track under the scenes and once it does it converts the track to a normal ranged track. There is currently an issue which makes it fail resolving a ranged track in some cases. In the example of this video the user is not letting the radar enough time to convert HoJ to full track.
Auto Acq modes (like LRBST) work differently. You don't order the radar to track a specific jammer. You order it to scan a specific direction and try locking the first return. On a jamming track this may end up well, if you are within burn through range there are good chance you will lock the true contact range. If it's beyond you will most likely lock one of the jammer returns, causing wrong range tracking, leading to unstable range display and possibly a loss of lock. The radar may automatically switch to HoJ at some point.
So one method goes straight to HoJ and will try converting to full track afterwards, the other method goes straight to a (possibly wrong) full track, which might be converted to HoJ later on.

The second time on the video where a lock is commanded on the jammer, the ranged contact was starting to appear at the proper range. Clicking on the contact marker, instead of on the jammer strobe, would have commanded a successful ranged track (because within burn through range)

Interesting. Will have to try that. Any plans to make the APG 70 better against jammers?@@Chwibon

Burn threw no longer works for the F-15E😢
