I’m just so glad a great piece of nostalgia like this is available at the touch of a button. I think we take things like this for granted when you can just open your phone and reminisce. I remember that season and promo so clearly.
Crazy to think that 12 years later, 1) Sunderland would be in league 1 2) Gerarrd would go on to become Villa boss having just guided Rangers to an SPL title but would retire as a player having never won the prem with liverpool 3) CR7 would end up back at old trafford having established himself as one of the top 2 players on the planet 4) Van persie would end up leaving Arsenal to join united, win the prem in his first season in 2013, which would turn out to be SAF's last and the last time united were english champions till date. It would be the only piece of silverware he won at united. 5) Newcastle would end up getting multiple promotions and relegations in the late 2010s. Mike Ashley would end up selling the club to a Saudi-based consortium 100 times richer than Man City's owners. 6) Leeds United are back in the top flight since their relegation in 2004. 7) Rafa would join Liverpool's rivals Everton as manager following his tenure at newcastle where he guided them to promotion and short time in china. 8) Southgate would end up being the england national team coach and guide them to the final of euro 2020 where they lost on pens to Italy. 9) Torres would end up joining Chelsea and have a torrid start to his blues career. However, he would go on to score against barcelona in the european cup semi and win the corner which led to Drogba tying the game against bayern in the final at their home stadium. The rest is written in blues history. 10) Macheda would never establish himself at United but his goals against villa and sunderland are still remembered fondly about among united fans. 11) Arshavin would remain the only opposition player to score 4 at anfield in premier league history. His arsenal career would end up trophyless however. 12) Arsenal would end up lifting the FA cup 4 times in 7 years but their invincible season in 2004 would remain the last time they were english champions.
God I miss this era so much you had players like Ronaldo and Messi in their prime and other beasts like drogba, van persie and robben all competing against each other in the champions league. Im Happy i got to see my team play in the Premier league and beat the likes of arsenal/man city don't think we'll be back for a long time now
Being a Sunderland fan. This was the season that really got me into football. I was only 7 but my earliest memories are Sunderland games. 1:33 is just such a happy and sad moment. It was the first time we beat Newcastle at the stadium of light and the first time in 28 years at home. Marton Fulop, the keeper is now unfortunately dead and this game was when he made his mark. Loved him and he would have played in the euros for Hungary if he hadn’t died. What a season it was
i guess Im randomly asking but does any of you know of a tool to log back into an Instagram account..? I was dumb lost the password. I love any tips you can offer me.
