Thank you so much for these color-coded analyses. This is a very valuable tool for someone like me, whose love of great music far outruns his knowledge of its inner workings. This must have been a labor of love!
@CuriosityRoads Thanks! The 9th: Lately I've been too busy with day work to make any more of these wave-form breakdowns, but the 9th is definitely one I'll do once I get some free time again.
So, did Beethoven write this one with such a long introduction just to sardonically make up for all of his other symphonies that hardly had any introduction? Because that's exactly what I would do.
HI im also a musician. In order to Understand this or any other piece is by breaking it down, Winds 1st violins,2nds etc, then start putting it together little by little.
I think that's an exaggeration. Neither Lennon or McCartney had the same cognitive power or raw musical ability both Mozart and Beethoven exhibited at a very young age. The sheer complexity of a Mozart symphony is several orders of magnitude beyond what L&M have ever done. And Beethoven's late string quartets, composed when he was stone deaf remember, bespeak a creative power and depth of originality that's yet to be equaled. L&M were amazing songwriters though! The best of the last century.
¿Quizás usaban las marcaciones de metrónomo originales de Beethoven? Cuando Leibowitz grabó las sinfonías de Beethoven, la gente comentaba que le parecían "muy rápidas" pero el estaba usando los tiempos de Beethoven.
War Thunder, I would say. For those out of the loop: the Second Movement sometimes plays in the main menu. War Thunder has introduced many players to this wonderful piece of music.
Movement 2 is one of the best "slow" movements in the symphonic repetoire.

One of his best works; I appreciate you posting this.
These videos are great! It's a wonderful idea what you have done here. It's a pleasure to "watch, listen and learn formal structure". Thanks
Danke fürs einteilige Hochladen der schönen Aufführung zusammen mit präziser Analyse!
Thanks for the unitary upload of the beautiful performance together with precise analysis!

I simply love the Scherzo
I loved the video! Great job!
My favorite part is the allegretto...15 until 22...Amazing...With nice violins...
No doubt: the finale is the best part this symphony
oh yeah, I did it a long time ago, check the description above for a link to my index of all analyses...
Do you have synesthesia? I mean, do you see colors while you're listening to music? Thanks! WONDERFUL MUSIC!

Someone once told me that Lennon and MacCartney are the Mozart and Beethoven of our time !
I'm a Beatles fan as well :)
the links in the description should be helpful
Are those quarter notes in movement 3?
shouldn't the last movement only contain two themes? The second theme in your analysis should belong to the first theme.
Why does it keep pausing at 19:20! :(
What does the green color stand for??
The closing.
This is the sh%it that puts me to sleep it is awsome
I'm a Beatlemaniac! But only Beethoven makes me feel like running riot in the streets preaching a musical gospel!

me too (:
Ugh, I hate being colorblind.
Try Enchroma glasses, they're a bit pricey but work wonders for my he majority of people who have them.
They've already done it. Just check watch?v=IAMDC-wXZU4
perfect for playing COD :)
