The results of compression are not as musically obvious as other effects like reverb & distortion, which can lead to some incorrect assumptions about the use and misuse of compressors. So let's take a look at how this works in Renoise & Redux.

How did you route live audio for narration in to your first track?

There's no live audio routing, it's just playing a sample. The 'Line Input' device can achieve what you're describing though: tutorials.renoise.com/wiki/Routing_Devices
