Cheers for the video think this is a good lesson for anyone with a alloy boat to go over everything with a fine tooth comb and check it all . And fix anything before it becomes a issue
Had alloy in my fuel filter bowl on my 2400 supercab thery mustn't clean out the tanks after manufacturing also the stainless on alloy is a definite issue they can improve on. Cheers for the vid 👍
I think the single biggest issue with all the major boat manufacturers is that they commonly use minimum wage unskilled labour for the fit out component of the build so have a constant turn over of staff who never really get better at it. In regards to the dissimilar metals corrosion issue I don't think they give a rats, bedding and use of tef gel takes time and money and the results of not using it don't really turn up until after the warranty period or can be blamed on the owner not carrying out "preventative maintenance" whatever that means.
Thanks fo taking the time for an in depth o.c.d anal video. I'm the same. Small shit pisses me off when it's my own big money purchase. Probably a bad time globally to buy anything when you finally received it. As a chef, we learn and take on how we can do things better, and Stabi hopefully will be one of those companies. They probably need better networking and support from dealerships in Oz.
What a lot of issues with a new boat, very disappointing. With the swarf in the oil filter, what problems did you encounter with the outboard to cause you to investigate further?
I reckon! Least I know the boat upside-down back to front know. Brought it in for the 20hr service after breaking it in and the mechanics said it didn't sound right with the cowl off. He checked filter and she was silver and after pulling apart a bit more found that the balance shaft ate the motor.
Hey Mate, I'm not sure on that model. There's alot of info on the stabicraft fanpage on Facebook. I did see that the deck can become detached from the stringers and bounce a bit but I'm sure this would be fixed. Cheers
Hey mate, good on you for having such an eye for detail.i used to boat build for a renown boat builder in nz.thats abit sad that stabi cant come to the party and fix all that for ya mate.i personally would sell it mate.not trying to offend ya mate, theres better boats than that for what theyre usually priced at.
I'm hearing you on that one mate ! It's a hard one as I've ironed out most of the dramas and getting some good use out of it. Don't want to sell a lemon to some poor soul. The NZ built boats were miles in front price wise in covid times. In terms of prices now for new boats alot higher so I think I grit my teeth until I with the lotto. Thanks for the kind words much appreciated.
@@paulsloan6184 Hey mate, I couldn't tell you on that size boat. I guess it depends on where you live and what qualities you want in a boat. I wouldn't let this video tarnish your thoughts on this brand. I enjoy my boat but just wanted to highlight the issues I came across. In the future I may look into a glass boat for heading further offshore. Thanks
I understand where you are coming from ,considering the cost you would think it would be better, but and this is a big but it’s not a car that is mass produced on an assembly line where the company can spend 100’s of millions on development it’s more like a caravan made of parts from all different companies and that is where the problem lies ,installing parts that weren’t specifically designed for your boat but designed for 100’s of different brands of boats and to top that of not everything is installed at the factory some is installed by the dealer or sales companies that sell the components So I guess I look at it like I’m buying a hull from Stabicraft a motor from Mercury a trailer from x the rest is bits and bobs. As far as the cost goes it’s hand made and we all know the cost of hand made I mean in comparison to a production line that puts out 100’s of cars a day Look I know I’m on a rant but I actually do understand I’m 400klms from my dealer so I took it home went over it with a fine tooth comb like you and fixed everything to my standard myself even though I know they are responsible I hope you are enjoying fishing out of it and there is a good side to owning a Stabi Cheers from down south
I agree with you! Some of the responsibility lies with the manufacturers, dealers and other third parties. Some faults are unforeseen and some are from lack of care. There is a lack of a customer service and ownership these days. Great boat and enjoy fishing out of her. Just wish their was less issues left me feeling shitty. Just wanted to shine the light on what you could possibly have to deal with buying a new boat. Cheers for the comment.
@Do-iz6qd My mechanic noticed the engine sounded different to his and decided to open up the oil filter and noticed it was full of metal. Otherwise the motor ran fine and has no complaints. Thanks for the back up with the poor quality much 👍👍
you are the man appreciate you running through ever little thing. for real mahalo!
No problems mate! Thanks for taking the time to comment.

Spewing! Its the small thing that make the difference!
Cheers.

What about the 1450 profish? Are there any known issues?

I am currently looking at a new Stabi 1550 Fisher…interested in what boats you would suggest are a better option? Cheers
