Thank you, Sarah. It is always gratifying to hear about how a film that has been important to me personally has also "influenced" or "inspired" other directors.

Jeon Do yeon is called the queen of Cannes in Korea. I really want to see Sarah Foley and Jeon Do-yeon meet in the feature.

I have not seen this movie but I saw Ms. Jeon play the lead in “Saengil” about the Sewol Ferry disaster and it shredded me. Will have to see this one.

It’s a grief without closure. The loss of a child which is grief without closure. Then there the fact her child died from a crime and she is also a victim of the crime cause it required her participation. I don’t think there is every closure when a loved one dies from criminal acts. It was not that he didn’t make it home. He was taken from home and she was given a task to get and handover money. She did not lose faith. For she was mad at God. Losing faith would mean she didn’t believe there was a God. She lost her purpose to save the soul of the murderer. If she did forgive him before she felt it was too late to do so she would have started to feel peace. It takes a lot of energy not to forgive. I found it odd she started talking about God before saying I came to say I forgive you. Her purpose clearly was to save him. That was what was keeping her alive and her mind focused. When no longer necessary what was the point. All the destruction she did afterward was to hurt God by hurting herself. Body is a temple… If she did forgive him, maybe even save him, she would also be without purpose so maybe she would have still gone into the abyss. She escaped Seoul at the death of her husband in part cause he cheated and she wanted to get away and be with no one she new a fresh start. I found it odd she stayed. Maybe she figured running was not the answer? I felt bad for the daughter. I assume the men beating her up had to do with the fathers debts? I could not believe she did not call the police at least seeing that. Her performance was brilliant as well. When the kidnapping happened she was drinking and having fun. The last time she saw the murderer also drinking with people. Interesting parallel how she then turned to Bible study. Almost the opposite. The puddle of water over my head. Was it the remark her late husband said that their son should be near dirt, not something found in Seoul? Was it the ‘rain’ had stopped? Was it where the son hid playing hide and seek? Did she dump out a chemical? There was an empty bottle of something.
