Aww bless you 🥺I teared up for you being brave and considerate enough to share this. Hindsight is a wonderful thing, but we all have to experience these things to learn from them. I think given that most horses are usually so sure footed that when they do trip and fall over it is such a shock to the system. Open fields still remain my underlying fear out hacking after a sideways spook that ended in me breaking my leg and dislocating my ankle. I’m in awe of your determination to stay strong and put it behind you. You are so kind to share this wishing you a good recovery xxx
When a horse breaks a leg sometimes the bone can cut their blood vessels so Down the rest of the leg there would be no blood supply the leg and the tissue can die
This is very true. I was in a very bad jumping accident ( I wascrolled on) and I know the horse tried everything he could to avoid me. I tried to roll out of the way, causing him to trip over me and then he rolled back over me. I’m not sure who was more traumatised. Me or the horse
The dizzy and nauseous feeling is just shock and the distribution of excess blood to your vital organs. It’s just your bodies survival mode kicking in automatically. It passes after ten minutes or so. Always give yourself those ten or more minutes for your body to come back to normal.
Thanks. I was confused about that & the fainting. I presumed feeling sick and going into shock was a sign of a broken bone or head injury so I've learnt something new. 😀
I mean I know what u r saying but don’t think it’s wise to give medical advice unless u r a medical professional. You don’t know she could have epilepsy, diabetes and the sugar was very low, a broken bone or a head injury can cause that. I’m just saying this because I am a nurse practitioner and I have several chronic illnesses. I do have epilepsy, gastroparesis, lupus and diabetes. My fear is that I’ll have an issue with sugar or a seizure as I don’t take my medical service dog riding. I guess I’m too sensitive to the subject. I’m sure that the people she’s riding with also know if there’s any medical issues.

You did the right thing taking the car ride back. This reminded me of a fall many years ago where I was knocked unconscious and woke up in an ambulance. Surely a bad feeling but one that I learned from.
Thank you for sharing the fall. Horse's tripping over is one of my biggest fears after my horse tripping and rolling on top of me and no one ever really talks about falling off. This is such a good video! The countryside is lovely , nice horses and people. It’s very helpful to watch videos from regular folks like so many of us are! It’s been a few years since I have done any serious riding, and my up and coming youngster is only 15 months, so I know the trepidation of those first rides out. I get nervous just watching these! Plus, the only people who don’t fall are the ones who don’t get on in the first place..so don’t feel bad ! Just happy that horse and rider are ok and can chalk that up to experience! Good job!😁
Thank you for sharing ! Woody is so well behaved, standing there and waiting after the fall. He really is a very nice horse ! I am glad you are both fine :)

What a beautiful fun ride. Such lovely scenery...we all make mistakes. .we all fall off.. all part of the learning journey of riding horses.. you know many riders never hack out. As too scared. Just stay in arena. Very boring.😅😅 i have always loved hacking. Had young horses. Getting them used to seeing the big wide world. Used to all the scary things. Then its an absolute joy to hack. But there will always be something horses have neved seen. Like that statue...!! Glad you are both ok. Woody is a lovely horse. You are such an refreshingly honest lovely person. Enjoy watching yoyr journey together your so right. Not everyone is super confident jumping.. Takes time to build up that confidence trust and bond with horse and rider....for just ruding woody fir a month. I think you are both doung great together.❤❤
It'd be pretty silly to judge, honestly. After all, I've heard it said that every rider falls off at least once. I've been taking lessons for years, but I haven't fallen off yet. So, you know, nothing more fun than the knowledge that my clock is ticking! :D (I feel like I shouldn't have watched this video because that looked terrifying.😅)
I feel you, I rode a 16.0h and fell off on are last jump 😂 all I did was sit there in disbelief and stress but I did break my arm 🫠 I hope your ok! 🫶🫶🫶
I knew it was the wrong decision. I say you rather walk then canter. Canter let the horse spook and go faster. And if you walked calmly in the middle of both stuff maybe the horse won’t spook. I have fell three times my entire life. Your a amazing rider.
Oof. That was a nasty fall. I hope you had your neck checked out by xray. Passing out like that indicates you likely jammed it. Hate it when horses go down. Been there, done that. Not a good feeling at all. Kudos to Woody for not stepping on you. :)
Hay don't feel embarrassed We've all done the same thing at some stage with our horses Sorry that you fall. looks like you and Woody come out from it fine .You turned it into a very informative educational video.
I'm sorry ..but if my hacking-out partner falls off a horse and is clearly not okay, I will be getting off my horse asap and help instead of sitting on my horse and partially looking annoyed about the situation. Props to the dog walkers, they immediately jumped in to help and you can see in one brief segment that the man walking to your right saw you tumbling around and immediately got ready for you to fall again. I'm sorry but I am very disappointed in the person that went out with you. I would never just sit on my horse and watch everything and not even consider getting off my horse, leading it by the rein, and helping you. I don't know, I find it bizarre how she didn't do anything instead of watching. I think you handled the situation well, falls will happen but I think it's great that you post about it because it's (IMO) important to show that things go wrong, and even if you're knowledgable you will make mistakes at times.
I'm here because I fell off at full gallop today... knocked the wind outta me... cinch wasn't tight enough and the saddle slid sideways...I did finish my ride. I didn't want my horse getting any wrong ideas to get me off....
I had a similar fall like that just this week! I was riding a horse and I wasn’t paying attention while I gave him a long rein. (He normally never spooks when I ride him so I trusted him a little too much) so he tripped and spooked at his own trip which made me fall off from the side. I am okay but what I have learned is even though you may trust a horse so much and think you don’t need to pay attention it’s still important to make sure your horse and yourself is paying attention so things like that don’t happen! (Guys also do not judge me for not paying attention as what I mean is I heard something and I looked over to see what it was so do not judge me or anyone for “not paying attention
I just started riding about 6 months ago, i ride twice a week and supplement the off days with youtube video learning. Last week the horse i was riding was spooked by a For Sale sign in someones yard. The horse had a similar reaction to what happened to you. i did a one rein pull, did a few circles, came to a stop and gave her some positive reinforcement. Thank you for sharing your experience.
ya I have a new young horse and since my fall, mt tb got silly and bucked and I landed in saddle half off side and just couldn't stay on, 1 I try to lung her before every ride and 2 I don't push her on either I shut her down. I get it!
I really needed to see this today. I’ve been beating myself up because I’m scared of jumping. I’ve done fun rides and done little jumps but yet I still beat myself up, thanks for sharing
My mum and I love to ride together, one day we went down to the beach on both of our Icelandic horses. My horse is such a angle, and I always feel same on her. So we trotted down the beach a bit and my mom asked if we should canter Since she knows I love to canter on the beach. When galloping my mom lost control on the horse and feel down right on the hip. I noticed and quickly jumped off my horse. My moms horse had trotted a little further down the beach and my mom asked me to get her horse. Then my horse suddenly began trotting and I couldn’t hold back. Both mine and my moms horse began to gallop in full speed down the beach. I panicked and began to cry cause I was so scared, this had never happened before. I ran as fast as I could. my mom slowly walked with me. Luckily nothing serious had happens to her hip. Our horses had ran to the nearest grass they could find. I saw a man running up to our horses to quickly get them and help me. I called my dad so he could take his car down to us and my mom could drive home, meanwhile me and my dad walked the horses home. Luckily we live only about one kilometre from the beach. Sadly I am scared to ride in the beach now. And I haven’t ridden on my horse for weeks. A sweet lady my mom knows is willing to ride together with me so I feel a little safer when riding. Nothing like that has ever happened to me.
You name it, i've crashed it - even if it's a little bump and your own bravado wants you to get straight back up and act as if nothing is wrong, the right thing to do is to lay down flat with your knees up and wait for the adrenaline to dissipate, then you'll be 'reet as rain'. If you ever see anybody fall just get them to do the same and reassure them that it's normal and they may just need to wait till they are ready.
aw you poor thing...I know the feeling of feeling a bit sick when you fall off. A bit of shock. Had it happen to me too. You know where you went wrong so that's the main thing. No fun when they shy then trip when just starting off in your canter. I used to own a very spooky horse and had I been on him I would have done what you said and give the statue a wide berth to right of it or may be just trotted past it as a bit more control and balance at a trot or even the other option and wait until I was past both it and the dog walkers before going into canter. My horse wouldn't have liked the dog walkers either....lol Glad you were ok with no serious injury! Loved the video though. What a beautiful ride. I'm in Australia so maybe not so pretty here even though we do have some good tracks. xo
Brave of you to share this but anyone who rides has made mistakes & we’ve all had bruises & breaks over the years 😆 I’m about to do my first fun ride in my first lorry and this was really helpful, thanks!

Well done for being so sensible about not getting back on, it is not nice when you fall off especially with that sick dizzy feeling after. Thanks for having the bravery to share! Xxx
You have done a brilliant 👏👌 work ! Felling off from horse doesn't mean you are not the good rider but it actually help you to be more strong and more focus towards riding even a good worrior in a war has to be fell of to be a good worrior You have done a great job !! 👏

Kind of the same thing happened to me my horse fell and I went down with him instead of me not getting hurt actually ended up fracturing My wrist but the Horse is ok but I’m glad nothing happened to you are the horse
I totally understand! When i first fell off i felt really sick after, i could barely walk and i had to take a little break. Turns out i broke my arm hehe.
i recently had a fall very similar, didnt pass out but did get sick twice, i got on again but it was a lesson and we were almost done so it was no problem, i almost ended up breaking my arm, but i didnt i just strained a muscle, i hope your recovery was fast and pleasant, these falls are never fun.

Takes time to build up that confidence trust and bond with horse and rider....for just ruding woody fir a month. I think you are both doung great together.❤❤
Thanks for sharing your experience.... definitely will be useful for others to learn
It'd be pretty silly to judge, honestly. After all, I've heard it said that every rider falls off at least once. I've been taking lessons for years, but I haven't fallen off yet. So, you know, nothing more fun than the knowledge that my clock is ticking! :D
(I feel like I shouldn't have watched this video because that looked terrifying.😅)
I feel you, I rode a 16.0h and fell off on are last jump 😂 all I did was sit there in disbelief and stress but I did break my arm 🫠 I hope your ok! 🫶🫶🫶
I’m going to a fun ride for 12miles with 66 jumps there x
I knew it was the wrong decision. I say you rather walk then canter. Canter let the horse spook and go faster. And if you walked calmly in the middle of both stuff maybe the horse won’t spook. I have fell three times my entire life. Your a amazing rider.
Oof. That was a nasty fall. I hope you had your neck checked out by xray. Passing out like that indicates you likely jammed it. Hate it when horses go down. Been there, done that. Not a good feeling at all. Kudos to Woody for not stepping on you. :)
Thank you for sharing this moment. I learned quite a bit from watching.
I get it!
My first fall was a broken wrist. And now I'm too scared to break another bone. Not falling, breaking a bone. 😢
You did nothing wrong....an accident. He tripped. Glad you ate both ok.
Wow that was a fall , glad you are ok both of you . And no , no judgement here . There is no one who can judge us worse than ourselves. Just the very best of luck to you both .🫶👍🐾❤️
I can’t wait to go on fun rides with my horse. They look so good! And lovely hacking. Not got to the fall bit yet but hope you’re ok 💖💖
What I learned is after you fall and you feel dizzy, lay on your back and knees up... This helps very well till you feel okay
Hi I am phoebe Kelly and I need to now if you could help me I am going to buy a new horse but I can’t find one please help me find one thank you so much 🤩🥺🤩🥳

I actually fell off and broke my elbow and I am back on riding and I’m all good but I was scared at first to get back on but I took a class newest like a safe and calm class is actually meant for that and my horses name is Joey and he’s a dapple Gray but yeah I was really scary I come to take a break but I still like went up to the barn and because of course I had to feed him and do all that but I’m back on and I’m jumping again I actually fell because he spooked The jump and he bolted right through the fence and it is outdoor arena so yeah but it was scary
Well done for being so sensible about not getting back on, it is not nice when you fall off especially with that sick dizzy feeling after. Thanks for having the bravery to share! Xxx
You have done a brilliant 👏👌 work !
Felling off from horse doesn't mean you are not the good rider but it actually help you to be more strong and more focus towards riding even a good worrior in a war has to be fell of to be a good worrior
You have done a great job !! 👏
Glad you are both ok. Also very informative to look at how you handled the situation and your thought processes and how you would have handled it differently. Very brave to share thank you xx
Kind of the same thing happened to me my horse fell and I went down with him instead of me not getting hurt actually ended up fracturing My wrist but the Horse is ok but I’m glad nothing happened to you are the horse

On a positive note: you have a great video for Shit Eventers Unite.
Haha the most important thing tbh
Hope your ok the dog walkers were so kind to walk woody back
So glad you are okay. Woody was such a good boy, too. Thank you for sharing your ups and downs with us. I’ve been out of horses for many years now, and I dread falling once I return, so seeing your perseverance and transparency are such confidence-boosters. 💜
So glad you are both ok, it's so good the way you analyzed the fall to learn something from it for another day!! You'll have many wonderful fun rides in the future that will be problem free!! 😍
So glad you’re both ok. Very brave to have shared this video, and I feel sure we have all learned from it. Thank you Rhi.
bless thats not anybodys fault i have come off tons of times when my horse spooked and lost his footing and to be honest that statue does look pretty wierd thanks for posting it x
oof that looked like a wicked fall, glad your okay
Ahh love Julien Porch hehe such a sweetie, worked with him many times whilst I was out and about doing event photography.
So sorry about the fall, it looked really painful and it's no surprise that you passed out but I think you guys did amazing and I love your positive attitude towards the situation!
You always learn from mistakes. The fact you don't let it effect your confidence and you reflect on experience is amazing
