aTrippyFarmer and his family are back to bring you more farming adventures! In this episode, Andy and his family are in the mood to pick some corn, and, hopefully their John Deere Combines will have firm, dry ground to work on, unlike the previous few days of harvest. The family moves the John Deere equipment over to a different bin site, and they set their grain auger and pit. Within a few hours, both machines are running in a high-yielding field of corn. Much to everyone's surprise, the ground seems to be dry, which alleviates the added stress of muddy harvest conditions. After running for a few hours, the bin gets full, another shuffle takes place, and they finish off the field of corn. However, it was not without finding some dreaded mud holes. They attempt to cut a nearby field of soybeans, but the moisture is too high. Another scouting trip takes place, and the crew finds a small field of soybeans that will harvest. They move the John Deere Combine over, and Andy takes care of some needed dirt work. Thanks for watching!

Andy "aTrippyFarmer" Dole is a 6th generation farmer from Central Illinois. On this farm, Andy works alongside his father, Marty, his uncles, Chris and Jeff, and his sister, Katie, to grow corn and soybeans on some of the finest dirt in the world. Andy and his family are deeply rooted in the area, operating a large farm that traces it origins back into the 1800s. Although some tracts did not stand the test of time, Andy and his family still grow corn and soybeans on fields that have been in the family for longer than even the oldest members of the farm have been alive. We do, we have, and we always will take tremendous pride in calling this piece of paradise our home. Andy was a Bronze Tablet graduate of the University of Illinois in the field of Crop Sciences, following the same path as his father and late grandfather.
It would be misleading for Andy to claim that this life is one that came by chance; rather, as a member of two multi-generational farm families, it was simply in his blood. His passion for agriculture traces back to his early youth--some of his fondest, earliest memories being of days spent riding in the combine with his father and grandfather. Although his understanding of the lifestyle was much less complex in the beginning, the love he has for farming, and its industry has only appreciated through time. As this dream blossomed into adulthood, Andy now works relentlessly, and tirelessly, to chase his own dreams and to build a farming operation of his own alongside his family.
We, as a whole operation, are handymen, electricians, mechanics, landscapers, accountants, economists, caretakers, stewards, and, most importantly, farmers, and we take an incredible amount of pride in our work. There is no challenge too overwhelming, no situation too stressful, and no problem too difficult for us to take on, and we want to take you along with us. Welcome to our farm and welcome to our lives. You have the best seat in the house to watch the everyday chaos of farming unfold--we usually only get concerned when things aren't going wrong!

What do you all think of the new video outro?
Thanks for watching👍
Nice into
Like the outro, for some reason it makes me think of the opening credits on Dallas. Way before your time. 😀
Very cool Andy! More great drone footage- as usual.
Liked the creative angles of filming while running the combine.
That small bit of beans reminds me of farming in southern quebec! Almost every field had spots like that!
I've been watching for a year or so now Andy. I have never heard the back story on how you named your channel: aTrippyFarmer. Hope you are well. The harvest is a struggle in eastern south south dakota. Wet, Wet, Wet. Take Care Andy. Keep em coming. John B.
There really isn't much of a story to it...just a name! We are wet as well, but the end is near!
@@aTrippyFarmer Come on, there must be a story to it 😉
You tripped on the Deere ladder and fell into the mud.
Or you tripped over something and broke a Deere window with a shovel.
Or you just tripped on flat concrete and twisted your ancle.
Getting close? 😄
Awesome Video and Much Love as Always!!
You know as long as your dad is around you will be forever working the tech for him 😀 👍👍
That's a burden I am willing to accept to have him around!
Gotta take care of pops right. You only get one 🇺🇸
I live between Champaign and Danville in the town of Hope near Armstrong
I always have to take feeder house drive chain shield off to change feed accelerator belt. Gives more room to move belt in behind pulley. Less struggle.
Why do you change the speed of your feed accelerator when going from corn to beans or beans to corn ? Set up manual says for "both" corn and beans slow speed feed accelerator.
It is definitely easier with the feeder-house lower. It is a tight squeeze regardless of what you do!
Here it is Oct 30th and still wet in east-central ill , douglas co. Soft is the word for the ground conditions. Waiting an Waiting
I think the combines are starting to roll again. It isn’t dry, but it is close enough for the green light.
that 8 row looks small on that big machine, but i believe 4 more rows and you would have been stuck and not getting anything done.
Agreed. It might be our saving grace with all of this rain, but the combine could certainly use a 12 row.
Maybe I missed it: why did you plant beans on that tiny strip? All the hassle with it, wouldn't it be easier to plant trees? Or strawberries maybe?
Personally, I’d love to just let it grow into grass. The owners, my family, don’t like to see ground go to waste.
Outro catchy and unique, like it👍
I noticed you changing feed accelerator belt when switching from corn to beans, correct ? Setup manual says for "both" corn and beans slow speed feed accelerator.
Now for the kicker..... the guys I help do the same thing.. their salesman showed them that's the way to set it up for corn and then beans.. guess we can tear that page out of the JD setup manual... LOL
A lot of differing opinions on this subject. I find much more comfort in having it sped up when you are cutting gobs of green-stemmed soybeans!
@@aTrippyFarmer Good reasoning..
The outro is great
Thanks!
Hello from ex yugoslavia
Hi there! glad to have you here...
👍👍
😎👌👋
It’s a copper Those methods like In those 220 cords. A hot bare wire WillCure a lot of ailments!
It’ll zap them right into sobriety!
Have you guys considered convert your corn planter to a single point like the Larson did to theirs
No. Larson's did that because they traded planter tractors, and the upgrade didn't have a 3pt hitch. It was probably much cheaper to put a single point on the planter than to install a 3pt on that 9420RX.. I would just buy a DB planter and retrofit the units.
@@aTrippyFarmer ya
What % are you done on Beans & corn?
We are getting close to the end. Maybe 15-20% left.
Honestly I prefer grain carting over combining
DP double pay abhahah
Is that what that stands for??? 🤣
The outro for me is a 7/10, As good as any, but not wow fantastic. That being said, I am not sure what you could do to improve it. So maybe a 7/10 is a bit low.
