I just realised the line about ripping the plug out the back of his head - I wonder if that's a bit of a reference to the Matrix movie, where they unplug their heads to leave the fantasy world and enter the real world (which is a much darker, miserable existence where you're in a literal constant fight for survival against seemingly impossible odds, and where you're forced to face the real truth of your existence)?? If so that bar goes HARD AF I didn't even realise it.
