    Man, thanks for such an informative video. I have the same midi commander. And I did the following: ABCD123 buttons change an entire variation and the 4 button turns a boost volume that operates independently of which variation is selected. It works great, but when I'm with the boost on and I change a variation, the boost keeps on, but his light turns out, making it confusing to operate. Would you happen to know how to fix this? Much appreciated man, great video

      Great to hear - and thanks!
      Do you have a rack control for that boost volume setting? If not, add a control for it and set it to default values on all your variations. Force it to be reset every time you switch to a variation.
      Maybe that helps. Let me know if it works out for you. 🙂

      I'll try it. Thanks for the answer. I really would like to leave it on, including the "on" light on the midi controller. I tried absolutely everything. But your idea is clever, cause a way of turning off with your method is selecting the variation I want again, this way the boost will be turned off. I'll let you know@@guitaranddaw

      No, I didn't hear any change in audio quality but you may want to check with the people who make Gigperformer.
      For the record I used it live, in the rehearsal space with my band as well as for recording with better control. I was happy with the sound. 🙂

      And remember that if you already have too high latency, bad converters or too many plugins in use for your computer to handle Gigperformer won't be a better solution than other stuff out there.

    Hello great video! :D How do i change variation from say 1 to 5. or have midi pedal set for specific variations? :)

    • @AamerKhan69

      Thank you very much. :-)
      When you create a variation on the left side you can choose which PC midi channel to listen to. Have a look at the image here: aamer.dk/Guitar-And-DAW/gigperformer-3-pc-midi-setup.png
      The number to the left of the variation indicates the PC midi message being listened to. If there is no number you can not select it via PC midi.
      So if you have something like a 8-channel midi interface sending PC midi 1-8 select the PC midi channel where it says "Program Change" setting. And change the Bank, too, if you have selected a different bank on your midi controller.
      If you want to turn effects on/off using Midi CC messages that is another story. :-)

      Also remember to make sure that your midi controller is recognized. Look here:

    Can u run effects parallel in this host, and does this pick up all vst free and ilok accounts 🤔
    Thank you gr8 video Merry Christmas

    • @guitaranddaw
      @guitaranddaw  2 роки тому

      Hi Mark
      Yes, you can if the effects plugin is set for stereo and most plugins seem to allow this. If you then run two outputs (L + R) from a block you can send them to each their effect and then route those effects to each their output or sum/mix them at a later block. I have used it when summing two guitar amp plugins for a bigger sound or running delay on the left and reverb on the right. It's fun. 🙂
      I haven't had any problems with any plugins using iLok in Gigperformer so I am guessing all should work.

    Hi. Excuse my ignorance, but what is the difference between using GigPerformer and using a DAW? This could be done in any daw (I think?)....What am I not getting? Thank you :)

    • @guitaranddaw
      @guitaranddaw  Рік тому +1

      That's a fair question. :-)
      Gigperformer and a DAW could both be used for playing live, that's true. I do feel that Gigperformer (GP) has better performance than both my Studio One and Cubase setups but that could be due to the many features my DAWs probably take care of.
      The great thing about GP is the programming bit. It reminds me of setting up a modeler such as the Helix or Headrush where you set up different paths of different effects and have effects turned on and off via MIDI messages.
      You could probably do that in f.ex. Cubase or Logic but I think It is much easier in Gigperformer. It is one of the things that GP excels at. For me it's a flexible modeler in software form on a PC. :-)

    • @guitaranddaw
      @guitaranddaw  Рік тому +1

      I think setting up 4 very different presets using a mix of plugins, routing everything to different paths, turning effects on and off and changing patches with MIDI messages in realtime and having everything come out of the same master output could be much more complex if I just used f.eks. channels and inserts in Cubase. Before I started using GP I tried doing something like that in Studio One and found it a bit of work. In GP it is very easy to setup.

    Did you connect this one directly to the amplifier in front or at the back which is the fx loop?

    • @guitaranddaw
      @guitaranddaw  3 роки тому +2

      This setup I would usually put in the effects loop in a tube amp. However, I have used this setup with a Laney FRFR cabinet which is probably best if you want to use both amp and speaker simulations.
