Poor Tilly. The orcas knew what the humans were after the night they took 2 yr old Tilly from his family. 2 adult female orcas died in their quest to save the young with them and then split open to go to ocean floor. They had a plan for when humans came for their young and exercised it that night. The one from Free Willy was set free but the pod did not accept him so he ended up alone in the ocean and would go up to boats to see humans. He ended up dying from a respiratory infection. Way to little and to late for Willy and for Tilly. Tilly was driven to madness. A creature so beautiful and intelligent performing for food and kept in a shoe box when not performing. What did he dye of? Heartsick, loneliness, anxiety, and anger. No telling how he really dyed. and was done with him. Orcas in the wild are a strong intelligent team.

That was very meaningful and thanks for doing that for this beautiful whale, who never should have been captured. Actually the oldest orca to survive in the wild is Granny a Southern Resident Orca in BC. Her son, Ruffles died two years ago . He was 40 something years of age.. She is reaching 76 -80 years of age. Orcas are some of the longest living animals on the planet.

Yes and no. Tilikum deliberately targeted and killed humans on 3 occasions. He was highly intelligent and must have known the love Dawn had for him despite the tragic circumstances. He nevertheless killed her brutally. Large intelligent mammals should not be captive in an artificial environment, most free thinkers understand this fact. But many were breed and lived in captivity and would not survive in the wild. Orca have a matriarchal hierarchy that is impossible to recreate in captivity hence the internal problems this creates. Tilikum was bullied by the dominant female. We have seen the immense majestic power and intelligence in these amazing creatures because of Sea World who brought this to a huge audience. But now enough is enough we must leave them where they belong in their natural environment. Once all captive Orca die we should never again consider entrapping these amazing creatures. It’s a physical sign of depression. If you see any whale with its dorsal fin flopped, then it’s safe to assume that animal is in a state of depression or has been in such a state. A beak whale was spotted in the wild with a flipped dorsal and it was assessed to have been caused by a depressive state.

The people that captured all the whales out to be punished for what they did. Unfortunately the trainers knew how these whales were being treated so poorly. It was terrible. Don't blame the whales blame all those who knew what these whales went through. Shame on them deceased or alive.
Belive it or not, not only did some trainers know, but they also tried to speak out, and they were either, written up, demoted, fired, or God forbid sued for saying anything that went against the business model of SeaWorld. One former trainer described SeaWorld as a "cult" The trainers were brainwashed, and silenced. SeaWorld even blamed Dawn Branchau for her own death! The trainers may have been complicit, but it's the SeaWorld corprates who deserve to be blamed the most.
There's so many videos out there and it breaks my heart these beautiful beings should not be in captivity and if they can't be released they should have a beautiful Oceanic home not a tiny little concrete pool check out some of the other stuff and anybody who abuses animals should be severely punished please do not support these SeaWorld save rescue adopt do right by animals and nature cuz it was if it wasn't for nature we wouldn't be here

Yes and no. Tilikum deliberately targeted and killed humans on 3 occasions. He was highly intelligent and must have known the love Dawn had for him despite the tragic circumstances. He nevertheless killed her brutally. Large intelligent mammals should not be captive in an artificial environment, most free thinkers understand this fact. But many were breed and lived in captivity and would not survive in the wild. Orca have a matriarchal hierarchy that is impossible to recreate in captivity hence the internal problems this creates. Tilikum was bullied by the dominant female. We have seen the immense majestic power and intelligence in these amazing creatures because of Sea World who brought this to a huge audience. But now enough is enough we must leave them where they belong in their natural environment. Once all captive Orca die we should never again consider entrapping these amazing creatures. RIP Dawn and RIP Tilikum.

There is no question that he meant to kill Dawn, but he was not the only one involved in the first death and the second was a mentally ill person who entered Tilikum's pool uninvited and frankly, asked for what he received.
Retire all living Orcas to sea sanctuaries and give them back something of what you stole from them…😡

Lovely song, thank you. Poor Tilly. I'm glad he's dead and at peace. Can't help but be thankful to him for what he did. His rebellion, killing three people, is what lead to the people's attention in the West finally turning to the suffering of the orca's. It's finally phasing out and we have Tilly to thank for it. As horrible as it was for the trainers and the other person that got killed. This needed to be addressed.

It’s a physical sign of depression. If you see any whale with its dorsal fin flopped, then it’s safe to assume that animal is in a state of depression or has been in such a state. A beak whale was spotted in the wild with a flipped dorsal and it was assessed to have been caused by a depressive state.
@@wishkid79this isn’t correct! Flopped dorsals are actually caused by a lack of water pressure in captivity, we don’t know why it happens in the wild, but it has no indication of an orcas mental health.
