Hey mate, i just wanted to take the time to thank you for these videos. It was precisely what i needed. Thanks for sharing what you know about these cars.
83 gmc Sierra the turn signals won't work unless I have the hazard switch on as soon as I push hazard switch in they stop working but the hazards won't work by themselves key on or off
so this is just for if the blinker stays blinking after you turn? what if the blinker just flashes twice then just stays frozen and doesn't move until you turn it off?
Great video Kenton. Can you advise where you obtained your turn signal replacement kit from.... And thank you for your service. Thanks, Ron - living in cold Saskatchewan, Canada....
thanks for the vidio it helps with my 1988 Chevy suberban but I just can't get d bottlem silver lock the one that u need a hex or a start screw driver any ideas on what makes it easier taking it off
Hmmm, not sure what it is. If I had a picture of it, I could probably help. I will see if I can find a way to get you my contact info without informing the world. :)
It is keyed so it only goes on one way. I am sure some cars, especially older ones, that are not keyed so the location would need to be marked before removing the wheel.
Does anyone know how these turn signal switches work?? My stupid Haynes manual only discusses how to remove one. My right brake lights don't come on. I've already checked the bulbs, the sockets and for a bad ground. I hooked a voltmeter up to the socket and with the pedal pressed it reads a negative volt pull.. like -.04 or something like that. This all started when the arm broke off the 3 way position portion my signal switch and it popped a tail light fuse. After replacing the fuse - both brake lights worked but as soon as I hit the signals it popped a fuse again. So, I popped off the steering wheel and fixed the broken arm and put those metal rods back into place. No more popping fuse and everything works except the right tail light. Any help?
There are a lot of possibilities here. I am guessing in the process of shorting out causing your fused to blow, I am thinking one of the wires to the one brake light has burned. If you aren't good with electrical issues, there are some other good videos on youtube for troubleshooting such issues. If you don't have an continuity tester or multimeter, they can be purchased cheap. In fact, Harbor Freight often has a coupon for a free multimeter with any purchase and I got one and it works great.
@@kgroombr I have a cheap multimeter. I took the VDC on the socket with the pedal pressed and it shows a slight negative pull. This is with the negative probe on the socket housing and also on a good ground on the vehicle. I think you're right though. I could have fried a wire.
@@kgroombr saw that my right brake light came on with the turn signal on. This told me right away it was the signal switch. Pulled steering wheel again and figured out that the backing plate wasn't making good contact with the top plate. So I reseated and left the screws slightly loosened for better contact. Lo n behold, both brake lights work. My flashers even work properly now.
you wouldn't happen by chance to know the wiring diagram for the steering wheel column not quite sure how to hook up the wires that go at closest to fire wall conectors.
Thanks! I finally found a video of the same steering column components as my ‘73 C10.
Very Educational! Thank you 😎
Best thing I've used for the ring is a flat tip screwdriver
Nice video Kenton. I'm sure this video is going to save me a lot of time, as I have to replace my turn signal mechanism on my 69 Nova. Thanks again.
Thank you for the tutorial and posting. Helped me put my 74 Jimmy steering wheel back together.
I guess it is kind of randomly asking but does anybody know of a good site to watch newly released movies online?
@Dakari Luca meh I watch on flixportal. you can find it if you google :P -watson
@Watson Zaire Thanks, signed up and it seems like they got a lot of movies there :) I really appreciate it !!

Snip the wires at the switch, then use them as a fish to pull new wires through.
Sure feels good when you can make something work and not have to use any specialty tools. Like I did for this project
Good job 👏
Thank u very much 77 cutlass

Shouldn't you straighten the wheels before you remove the wheel?

Hey man! I have a Vega GT wagon and the hazard switch has been yanked out. How do I fix it?
What's the tool call with the red handle? Need to order from ebay. Great video!
That is a steering wheel lock plate remover. I got mine off of ebay shipped for about $12.
Thanks for the reply. This really helps.
Amazon has them for $9.79 (ABN Steering Wheel Lock Plate Removal Tool)
Can you put a tilt turning signal switch in a not tilt car

hopefully this video works for mine cuz my turn signals are all flimsy
Let me know if you need some other guidance. More than happy to help.
Or the turn signal triggers the windshield wipers . . .
Zoom would have been nice hard to see what you’re doing

Unfortunately I don't. I thought I would find this via a google search, but no joy. I will look some more and post if I find anything.
