- Hey guys it's Harlow! You guys have probably seen my last video about the #collegecheatingscandal where I talked about my experience attending high school with Olivia Jade. After I posted that it kind of went crazy, and people had a lot to say. Some of her other classmates expressed their point of view, but others simply decided to attack me and threaten lawsuits. As I said before, this is my experience and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. All the love to you guys!

Here's what's hysterical. You NEVER said anything derogatory about the school, so for them to make a statement just goes to show you're right. From a legal standpoint, the school newspaper tagging you in a photograph and commenting what they did does actually constitute electronic harassment and you may have a claim of your own, I would talk with someone. I would also video any cars coming onto your property and file police reports. You have more brains then this chick Olivia, keep up the great vlogging !

As far as I know since UCLA is a public University, they are not allowed to do affirmative action due to California Law. (Private universities can i.e. USC, Stanford) So pretty sure you got in through your merit not ethnicity :)

Girl screenshot the message on the newspaper, if anything you can threaten them for harassment and trespassing now. Plus you’re fine, you didn’t name the school or commit any libel or slander against them. Your words didn’t violate the fighting words clause, it wasn’t inflammatory, it wasn’t hate speech, it wasn’t libel or slander. Also get screenshots of what they said on the video, more ammo for you.

I totally agree to screenshot the messages or printing them and the picture on your schools paper thing. If this were to get out of hand you need to have all your facts documented. And if not then it can get thrown away! I do not believe you did anything wrong. And it should blow away soon... but my mom always taught me with stuff like this you need to keep it documented until it changes.

Not sure if adults were aware of it but it's a little scary to me how far they are willing to go to intimidate her. Their father passed away 2 years ago. They have applied for and earned several scholarships still not a full ride but praying it will be close! We are no means poor but FAR from being rich. @@applewhite6797 True, but the original post said "They literally can't sue", which is not true. Anyone CAN sue another for anything. Winning the suit, however, is quite a different thing and they open the door for a counter-suit if the judge deems the original suit frivolous.

Indeed. In order to prove defamation in the US the person suing has to prove
1. That what was said was false
2. That the person who said it *knew* it was false
3. That the person who said it had the intent of causing material damages
4. That what was said caused material damages
Failure to prove all 4 of those things means the lawsuit gets thrown out. And in the state of California anti-SLAPP (strategic lawsuits against public participation, ie filing frivolous lawsuits against someone criticizing you with the intent to scare them into shutting up) means that once its thrown out she could counter sue for damages.
None of that matters anyway since she didn't make any claims about anyone

She went to the same school for a very short amount of time.. Hell, i even think Anothny Scaramucci was the White House Secretary for longer than she attended the school.

Given the article in the school newspaper indicated that they would show up at your doorstep, the paper was encouraging threatening and stalking behaviour, could the school not be held liable/sued for allowing the publication?

Now I’m no lawyer, but I would argue that posting vaguely threatening pics aimed towards you on insta and then weirdly showing up at your house the next day just to stare at you and drive away is more grounds for a harassment lawsuit than your original video was for...literally anything lol. SUE THEM BACK for Malicious Prosecution.... I wouldn't be surprised that you make enough from UA-cam to be able to hire a decent lawyer! If your stories are considered OPINION (i.e. editorial) and/or actually TRUE to the point that they are newsworthy, you have the right to publish them. If they press forward, sue them back or at least send a nice cease-and-desist notice from a high-end lawyer.

They actually HAVE TO PROVE a MATERIAL LOSS and/or the basic non-truthfulness of your statements !!!! They likely have NO basis for a libel or slander case but YOU DO since they seem to have made perceived THREATS in a school newspaper (i.e. show up on your doorstep!) AND/OR if there are other comments made online which in fact ARE threatening real-world action, I would say you SHOULD copy them all within screenshots and pursue a CRIMINAL CASE which are actually FELONY OFFENSES!
Upon conviction, they could in fact receive serious fines, probation, and in the case of the 18+'s even very real world JAIL TIME as adults! Online threats SHOULD BE taken very seriously! If you have an actual case, then pursue it and talk to your local DA (District Attorney) to see if criminal case action is warranted over threatening online or other written comments! There ARE crazies out there WHO CAN AND SOMETIMES DO act upon their online threats. Take them seriously and make sure you STAY SAFE!
Get a subpoena from UA-cam for the IP addresses and real identification behind their usernames. This means the DA will decide whether or not a case goes further and if it does, the offender may accept a plea deal from the District Attorney (so the offenders don't face the truly serious jail time penalties but WILL get probation, fines and community service!), or if it actually goes to trail, the judge (aka the Trier of Fact!) will review the online comments and based upon whether or not YOU are considered a private or truly PUBLIC figure, the prosecutor may in fact put the larger criminal sanctions such as fines ($5,000 to $50,000+), community service, probation and/or actual jail time (usually 30 days up to 6 months) on said offenders depending if they have a previous rap sheet or not. If they do, then they could get between 2 to 5 years for making online threats!
TAKE THIS SERIOUSLY! The online world is full of the unbalanced! If you consider the threats truly personal and out-of-line, then take copies to the police and ASK for the District Attorney to review them to see if criminal case action is truly justified.

BUT she (Harlow) could send a letter FROM A LAWYER today indicating that she will be taking all legal remedies available to her and her company, and that includes countersuits if there is probable cause to indicate that ANY actual prosecution by the plaintiff was intentionally malicious and/or without cause. In some cases, the plaintiff (i.e those threatening to sue!) could have not only themselves named BUT also the lawyer themselves named in a countersuit.
This would tend to force the OTHER lawyer to think HARD as to whether they actually WANT to take such a case to court!
Again, I think she (Harlow) has a MUCH BETTER case for pursuing actual online harassment countersuits and maybe even a criminal case for online threats BUT that is of course for the police and District Attorney to make that call as to whether actual and/or perceived danger is present. At the very least MAKE A SCREENSHOT copy of all the online comments you believe to be threatening! The Police and DA will make the decision as to the next steps. At worst you get evidence for a civil online harassment suit and/or a permanent UA-cam/Facebook ban!
Depending upon the TYPE of threats made online, they can be SERIOUS FELONIES with large fines and very real jail time, especially for those 18+ when they made them! Even a minor would get somewhere from 3-to-12 months probation and community service directives for making an online threat AND if the threat was serious enough, the DA could easily upgrade the case to adult court!
If the online perps are unlucky enough to get forced to an actual trial where they are convicted, the judge MIGHT throw the book at them and give them 3 months in the county jail OR he might give them 2-to-5 years in a State Prison which is ABSOLUTELY NO PICNIC !!! It WILL NOT be like "Orange is the New Black" TV show --- It will be a MUCH WORSE environment for the convicted perpetrators of such online harassment!

It's been really nice to have with all of the snow this past winter cause other people are driving scared and swerving yet my car was cruising with no issues. BTW I'm not rich, it took lots of hard work and saving to buy the car.

My parents had an outback for 13 years and they bought a legacy a couple of years ago. I love the versatility of the brand and their reliability. That's really great that you worked for what you wanted. It's a good habit to develop I know a lot of people who just expect things because of how they were raised and when they're put out into the world they have some big adjustments. Going to college was a big culture shock for me. It's amazing how much class separates people and I didn't realize that until I was in college. One of my roomates freshmen year went to a private school in LA and after watching this video I looked up how much tuition was for her school and I was shocked. It was 42k for a year of high school. But she's just a product of her circumstances, she didn't get a choice over where she went to school. This whole admission scandal is awful and it's unfortunate that's the way our world works right now. If you have the resources you're put ahead in the world. After I looked up her tuition I started thinking about my own education. I went to public charter schools for K-12. They were public schools but my family had to go out of their way to apply for them and they required a lot of extra commitments. I don't want to say I got a "better" education from my schools but they did offer a lot more opportunities and experiences for me that I wouldn't have had if I had just gone to my district school. So this whole thing has been kind of humbling for me to appreciate what I have. I'm lucky to have a car to drive and to be able to afford to go to college without racking up student loans. You have a pure radiating energy and I'll be looking out for what you post in the future!

As somebody who has knowledge of the law, I can tell you that you didn’t say or do anything wrong on your previous video (which I watched) and you are totally covered by the first amendment to speak of your past experiences and formulate opinions regarding it and say them aloud. Also, you didn’t name anyone nor the school (and even if you had, you can tell an experience that you had at an establishment and speak your mind regarding it) and that would’ve been totally fine too. People can’t threaten you with a lawsuit to simply put a “muzzle” on you. Also, please take note that, if they continue to send threatening messages, you can sue them for harassment and a number of other things (depending on what they write to you and what they threaten you with whether directly or indirectly). Save all their messages in case you need to use it in a court of law and don’t write them back so your words can’t be misconstrued.
