Yeah, there is nothing quite like it is there? It never gets old, regardless if it's glorious sunshine, freezing cold or snow. It's just amazing. I've subscribed to your channel mate. Look forward to checking out your videos. 👍
Loving that thumbnail/cover image and the drone images. It's cool that you got to stay in that hut. Did you walk past that last time out? Well done completing the challenge! ⛰️
Thanks mate. The drone footage was courtesy of Paul. He got some amazing shots. Yeah, I walked past Ling Hut last time and was contemplating staying in it, but decided to head into Caldbeck instead. Was great to stay in it.
Dude! 🏔🥾 That was EPIC!! 🤯 Seriously, those views were 👌👌👌. I've always wanted to try the Cumbria Way, but now I'm definitely going for the mountain route! 🙌
Thanks so much mate. Yeah, it's an awesome trail. Both versions are to be honest. I really enjoyed the official route, but the mountain version is something else. The nice thing is you can mix and match if you want. Although I highly recommend the full mountain route. I hope you get to do it soon.
Great video Mark - your best video yet mate. It must be a relief to go hiking with someone who doesn’t fallover or drop cameras.. Fantastic mate - epic!
Thanks so much matey. Ha ha, I think he was more amused at me making a total tit out of myself most of the time. Anyway, falling over in mud and dropping stuff is all part of the entertainment right? Catch up soon pal.
Awesome mate! That was hugely enjoyable to watch. I'd totally forgotten about the dog at Rosthwaite 😂😂 Really great to see things from a different perspective!
Thanks matey. Not sure how it's going to do, as it's a bit of a long one. Will be interesting to see. Ha ha, yeah, the would-be hot dog. 😂 Poor thing. Shame we didn't get that on camera. Thanks for all your footage. I've just realised, I forgot to put a reference to your footage in it. 🤦 I'll pop it in the description.
@@Chilternwildcamper that is the great thing about this route. You can mix and match as much as you like. I highly recommend doing some of the mountains if you do decide to do the trail. For me, going through Torver and up to the quarry and waterfall is a no brainer. Much nicer than the main path.
Ha ha. It was a lot. We consumed even more when we got to Carlisle. I 100% blame Paul, he's a bad influence. Thanks for watching and commenting mate. Glad you enjoyed it.
Yeah, it's an awesome trail. I will no doubt go back and do it again sometime. The Youth Hostel in Keswick is great and a perfect place to stop and freshen up. Thanks so much for watching and commenting.
I’ve just watched your video man I missed you by about two days that gate too 😂😂 I had to climb around it Great video I’m going to definitely do the mountain route next time all the best trev 😊
Ha ha. Yeah that flipping gate is a right pain in the backside. 😂 Glad you enjoyed the video matey. I've got yours in my watch list to pop on later. 👍 Oh and yes, defo go back and do the mountain version, it's just epic.
It’s called a gibbet, it was not done as a grotesque thing it, 5:09 was to show the landowner that that the mole catcher was doing his job properly. Gatekeepers did the same and would hang up stoats, Weasels and other vermin. One of those traditions that is sadly going to be lost to time.
Ah okay, so the land owner hires someone to catch the moles and this is their way to prove they are doing the job? How interesting, I've never heard or seen it before. Is it a Northern tradition or do they also do it further South do you know?
@@trickofthetrailNo, it was done all over the country. I was a Gamekeeper in the 80s and we used to do it just to keep up the tradition. They were hard times in the Victorian/Edwardian era and if you didn't show your worth you didn't get paid.
38:52 that feeling....There's nothing quite like waking up in a tent surrounded by nature's beauty. Mountain camping is the best!Liked!

Thanks so much Mark. Glad you enjoyed it. Makes putting it together so worthwhile. Took me an age to complete it. Thanks for commenting mate.

@@trickofthetrail no worries mate! Some of those skies and cloud formations looked really awesome in the videos on yours.
Really enjoying this, what a treat for Friday night viewing!
Glad you're enjoying it Lesley. Is a bit of a feature length this one. Hope you enjoyed the rest of it.
@trickofthetrail it's a great video and I'm now even more keen to do a version of this route this year.

Thanks for taking us along Mark, i will pop over and watch Pauls now :)
Thanks mate, I hope you enjoyed it. Bit of a long one, but hopefully people will find it useful.
Thoroughly enjoyed that and it looks like yous had a great time. Just wondering what the total beer consumption was for the entire trip? 😁

I did the way approx 20 odd years back. It was good. Youth hostel as a bit of a home bird comfort.

What a mole catcher I’ve seen this before

Cinematography is excellent. Can I suggest a 2nd youtube channel you could create . "Peaks and Pints" 😊
Peaks and Pints! I love it! 😂 That one would need to be a collab with Paul. He's an absolute beer monster. 🥴
