    I seriously canNOT believe they actually went with the god awful 'it was all just a dream' cliche for this game's actual ending. How did the developers of this game make literally every possible terrible design decision? It's actually impressive.
    Edit: Like why even do the whole 'it was all just a dream' thing to begin with? Why couldn't they just have Jacob actually attempt to escape, then fail at the very end? Then, realizing that there's no hope for escape, the doctor still does the whole C.O.R.E transfer thing before they both die.

    Hot take, Hero Factory made better use of the CCBS than G2, and I'm not talking about the aesthetic of the parts being a better match. The entire conception of CCBS is that armor attach point and limb attach points are the same, and that means that smaller sets get to be fully posable with a basic skeleton, whereas bigger sets can make a complex lattices of flexible joints, like say building up realistic shoulder blades. Because even the smallest links still had a free ball joint, armor could still be layered on these larger woven structures, and with technic pins still accessible you could still tie in older Bionicle parts or make certain parts still rigid with classic technic lift arms and bars. Compare the Larger and non-humanoid Hero Factory sets to anything from G2 and you will see that this is exactly what they do, creating interesting non-standard skeletons and layering the existing armor pieces in interesting ways.
    But lets be honest here, the G2 Toa weren't badly designed, in fact they were great, the gear function was well integrated and the posability and stature of the models was good. No, the real issue is that they made next to no new armor or accent/texture pieces for the series. And that's like the whole point of that third layer, to give different series unique textures, but I guess after the mask and weapons they didn't have the budget. But if thats the case, why even bother trying? Presumably a big reason Lego dropped Bionicle is because they were shying away from series that heavily relied on new and unique molds for every season, why try again if you know that the greebly, kitbashy, texture is what made the series iconic? Regardless, I wanted to mention what CCBS SHOULD have been able to do, because while I can seriously praise the Toa, the bad guys sucked, there were barely any Rahi, and no vehicles, but Hero Factory had all of that, meaning it was not an inherent limitation of CCBS, just a total lack of confidence or ingenuity.

      I remember in certain cases, they would make me feel more invested in action scenes because I was involved in them. The indirect control of watching a glorified movie and tapping a button here and there to avoid nasty things happening could be fun, but... they're hard to get right, I suspect. Too often they become either too obvious/trivial, or too sudden and complex. I'd say Quantic Dream do them best, mostly because their whole games tend to revolve around them, which means they can set patterns like "this button usually performs a jump", "this one will be a grab/climb", etc. Instead of "Wait, why would it be B to block in this event, and X to dodge? That's the opposite of the game's usual controls!"
      Even worse is when the button input is random. The only skill being checked is lightning fast eye-to-finger response time... which not everyone has, and some of those of us who can mange it are like "I can do this, but it's not particularly fun, and it makes me miss the actual scene while I'm staring angrily at where the button prompt pops up".

    • @nathandts3401
      @nathandts3401 10 місяців тому +4

      @@hazukichanx408 The Quantic Dream stuff works sometimes and some of the controller gimmicks in the Supermassive Games games occasionally.
      They do those things to immerse you, though. It's the exact opposite of most games that take you out of the experience. Mashing a button to lift a door doesn't make you feel like you're actually doing it and in some instances, you can't watch the glorified movie because you're looking around for button prompts like in God Of War.
      I'd argue that QTEs are detrimental in 99/100 games.
