    I been rolling on and off like 8 years now. Cones are the worst. Usually 1/4" thick sometimes up to 5/8". Is there an equation on how to set up rolls in conical mode ? Like how much of a pitch to use based on diamter of cone ?

    Is there any calculation to set the angles of roller as per conical shape, or can we set coordinates in machine to roll perfectly?

    How to bend the two ends to the correct radius, based on experience or calculation?

    • @LumenPsycho
      @LumenPsycho 2 роки тому +2

      If you mean the pre-bending of both sides before rolling, then you just use a radius tool (we for example have a few hundred circle cutouts with different radiuses) to check it from the smallest point & the biggest point. A good drawing has both of those radiuses mentioned. Bend as near the end as your machine allows. If you're new, you'll probably want to go slow & check from time to time before you overshoot the wanted radius. If you've made radiuses in many forms a.k.a. experience, you'll kinda know by eye where to stop & check. In short, you press the pedal until metal is bent close enough to the desired radius. It's fine if the radius is a bit over or under. Rolling will fix that.

      The hub ( red item at the end holding the top roller) is tilted backwards by the hydraulic cylinder, thus creating an opening.

    I'm guessing it's the back edge of the roller machine that is "turning" the sheet metal. So I don't know if there is any real reason to put the rollers at an angle...

    • @rossy2998
      @rossy2998 5 років тому +1

      Their put on an angle because for you to get the correct radius at the small end you need to have to rollers set to that size. You dont have to set them like that but you will need to pre bend those edges or they will end up flat and you will be hitting them around with a hammer. When youre doing shit like this you really need to tip those edges. First

      The company I work for installed a set of Faccin 4 roll plate rolls last year and they bought them on the premise of rolling cones in automatic mode. We find out from the service tech because of the pinch roll needing to slip in order to rotate the cone thru the rolls, its not possible to roll cones in auto mode. I can make a program based on large and small diameters, plate thickness, yield strength and width which gives me a ballpark starting point but have yet to successfully roll cones on them. I either use our old trusty 3 roll initial pinch rolls or a godforsaken press brake. Programs for simple cylindrical shell shapes are way off from the program numbers to actual numbers. But, I was "trained" by a service tech that was of no help so what I can do on the rolls I learned on my own. That's the reason I'm on UA-cam now, looking for answers lol...
