  • Alive with Christ: Discovering our Spiritual Riches in Ephesians - Part 5
Join me as we continue our journey through Ephesians and discover the spiritual riches that are yours in Christ.
In Chapter 4, we explore our calling as saints and discuss the importance of fostering a deeper sense of unity in the body of Christ. We also delve into the purpose of spiritual gifts and discover how to stand firm against crazy doctrines and false teachings.
The transformative truths in this message will inspire and empower you to enjoy the fullness of your new life in Christ!
    Discussion Questions for Ephesians 4:1-16:
    1. React to this statement: You can only walk in a worthy manner if you know your calling as a saint!
    2. One body. One Spirit. One Lord. One faith. One baptism. One God. What is Paul trying to tell us?
    3. How do you view spiritual gifts? What are they for? What have your experiences (good or bad) been with them?
    4. What are the “winds of doctrine” and “trickery of men” that we see today? How can we avoid being “tossed here and there” by them?
    5. How is the church (globally) doing regarding unity and love today? How could it do better? By what means?

The format of the church got off track very early when they created a clergy class to rule the laity class. It hasn't been corrected. Has only gotten worse. It is proven statistically that people aren't being transformed by sitting passively and listening to sermons. I do think it should be more interactive.

Not sure how being transformed can be measured statistically.

I think transformation comes through the revelation of who Jesus is. And that can happen anywhere where he is taught and preached correctly. What do you think?

After four years of west coast lordship salvation fruit inspecting and out of fellowship until confession, I got so tired of feeling guilty and like I just had struggles that for some reason this was not working and that although I kept my belief, I compartmentalized it all and buried myself in drink and porn. Fast forward thirty years.... Not until studying the grace message, did the light come on in my understanding and it was like suddenly realizing only one thing, and that everything before the cross was Him teaching the perfect weight of the law to jews, and that is when the New Testament actually begins, I remember saying to myself, " Thats it? That is was what was wrong? Oh, my, I was taught a false gospel of Arminianism all along?! And then I remember an amazing peace come to me and since then now for two years since then I have seen more fruit in my life, albeit struggles but way less then it used to be, thanks the Lord. But yes, in my experience the grace gospel has been more fruitful and my love for Him has grown so much, knowing I am totally free to sin, but I don't want to, and yes the more I learn Grace the more I do not want to sin, so yea, everything Andrew speaks about I have seen compared to the "Californian Bible Belt," teachings. Thank You Andrew. Praise the Lord!

I'm beginning to theorize that soteriology (calvinism/provisionism/arminianism) is more of a philosophy than it is theology. More than that, it is a sort of typical human response to the unknown. To probe, dissect, experiment on, and finally subdue in cruelty, corrupting what once was pure. We do this with the creation and how much more with the Creator who our flesh is at enmity with. The Bible says, "Who can know the mind of the LORD?" and we say,"we can." Well, we can't, and we corrupt the gospel by trying to.

Man I'm wonderimg what church you were in. I came out of the Navy where I got saved and those were my main struggles as well, booze amd porn and sex. I have dealt with that for the last 20+ years. Going back and forth with questioning my salvation and then "coming back into grace" just on and on and on it went. It cost me one marriage and so much more. I even knew that it is a renewing of the mind and that it must be done every day where His mercies are new, but I chose to walk in the flesh. I know that I NEVER wanted the sin. I hated it. Tjen I heard Romans 7:14-21! I hated the consequences of it but also that I wasn't walking with God and the way it made me feel so distant. And instead of putting on my new self I chose the easier path of turning to the addiction that always made me feel good in the moment and suffer the aftermath. I adopted the belief that if I was saved I wouldn't be going back amd forth like I was, that it wouldnt be so frequent. I tried to fix it myself 🤔 Looking back on how God is so patient and loving, it motivates me to walk in His Spirit. When I think about what Christ did on the cross I feel more compelled to stop because that brutal death and humiliation was not put on Him so that I can live this way. The stinking thinking has been so prevalent in my walk that it's created an anger and resentment toward God because I felt like he wasn't pulling me out of this trap. But in reality He has! I just stayed in this immaturity for so long. And being a part of these churches that kept me feeling like I was never saved because of peitism and how they tied works into the gospel, it's only discouraged me more. Andrew Farley has been a blessing to say the least. My assurance still wavers many times but I always repeat to myself to live by faith. At the end of the day we get to choose how we're going to walk. God has reconnected me with two older friends who both came out of the same church, which was kind of abusive in many ways, who have encouraged me and helped me along the way to deal with that very problem. Lordship theology and peitism. Stay blessed!

Can you explain James 5:12 and why it says lest you fall into judgement?? I’ve been seeking answers on this but not finding any, thank you

You need read James as an early book before grace was clearly set forth by Paul. James and the others stayed in Jerusalem under a law message with James still there as late as Acts 22. Look at it as early Jewish believers who were still trying to integrate the law in the message

Andrew Farley I agree with you that our salvation is absolutely free. OK and perhaps we can have all the wonderful fruit of the Spirit all over our lives. Well maybe? And I am glad I got somewhere to go other than Hell when I die. And it is great to have all them positions and possessions in Christ. OK No problem at all right? That is great and no one can fault this free grace we received when we believed. OK wonderful BUT what happens when we get sick and we still want to enjoy life and see good days? Where do we go? What then do we do to obtain healing in our bodies when our sins take us down to ill health? I suppose it is wonderful we can receive all spiritual blessings in heavenly places free when we believed but what about when we are in desperate need? Do we go to the medical community and big pharma that wants to keep you sick while they endlessly treat your disease and create new ones with the iatrogenic effects of their psych and diabetic and cholesterol medication? All of our wonderful positions and possessions in Christ do not guarantee us anything other than dying and going to Heaven. As far as joy what happens if you lose it and cannot seem to recover it? What happens to the spice of living once you have lost it? Or even what if you become homeless cause I know lots of homeless believers. As far as food Jesus stopped feeding the 5000 and the 3000 long ago and did not want to gety too tied up in that sort of business. Yet what if we find our fish farming methods are producing toxic fish full of poly chlorinated bi-phenols and toxic lead and mercury and other horrible things like parasites and diseases and they are given antibiotics or the meat we get from cattle and the farms leaking nitrates into the aquifers? Often mankind needs miracles not spirituals alone. Therefore it is of utmost importance to attempt to please the Lord in a manner in which He is inclined to do so for you and your friends and loved ones and even our cities states and nations.. Quite frankly I do not know how to do that.

If nothing new happens after the spirit birth we can forego the water baptism, unless the water baptism is just an empty ritual in which God adds nothing new. But if we believe that God is not a fan of rituals done in his Name that are devoid of his spirital involvement, the the water baptism is a legitimate practice. And if we believe in the practice of the water baptism, that is separate from the new birth, why would we have a problem with a spiritual baptism that is separate from the new birth?
