LYRICS Another life, another weekend Another lonely roller looking for a friend A bright eyed kid, an empty vessel This party's crazy but he knows it's gonna end Look at your face, look in the mirror You see your outline and you close your eyes Look at the lights, look at the city Who's gonna be here when everybody dies Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies Until then, nothing ends No one is lost Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies Until then, nothing ends No one is lost Another life, another weekend Another message checker looking for a friend You got a pulse, you got a problem We know the real you so why do you pretend? The velvet rope, the soft eyed bouncer The girls all shiver in their high heeled shoes The ones inside, all feel like winners Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose Until then, nothing ends No one is lost Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose Until then, nothing ends No one is lost No one is lost No one is lost Back to the crib, back to the castle The bottle's empty and my bed's unmade You have the looks, you had the lover You're being brave but we know that you're afraid Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid Put your hands up, put your hands up Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid, yeah Until then, nothing ends Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid No one is lost No one is lost Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid Put your hands up, put your hands up Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid, yeah Until then, nothing ends No one is lost No one is lost No one is lost No one is lost
Listen to the episode of Sing Exploder on this tune. Really interesting to learn how it came to be recorded, then re-recorded to end up in it's current state.
Only recently discovered you guys through my Apple music subscription having started with There is No Love in Fluorescent Light but this album of yours is my favorite
***** I was not saying anything about the lyrics. And yeah they always been somewhat electronic but not as much as that. It's a trend anyway : Arcade Fire used it, Coldplay.... I just don't like it
They were going through a tough time when this album was being made; a close friend had died, I'm pretty sure. From what I read, they'd decided on this "generic pop music" for No One is Lost to contrast with the morbidity of the subject they were writing about. They could've easily made another Set Yourself on Fire, but it's all about the timing of this album that sets it apart from the others. (Sidenote: Stars has always made upbeat music. When? Comes to mind when I think of their early discothèque-y music.) Torquil has been quoted as saying that the gay club scene heavily influenced this album's sound. Now, I say all of this because, really, just because something might sound generic doesn't mean it is. No One is Lost has a pretty powerful message in it, you just need to pay attention to it. And when you see it, man, there's no doubt Stars' still addressing real-world problems in their music like the other albums they've made. No One is Lost is just packaged differently, give it more time, it is worth it. Personally, I really like how the upbeat tempo mixed with lyrics like "put your hands up 'cause everybody dies" is kinda like a call to listeners to keep going instead of giving into the pain.
Amy's vocals during the chorus, just enchanting
LYRICS
Another life, another weekend
Another lonely roller looking for a friend
A bright eyed kid, an empty vessel
This party's crazy but he knows it's gonna end
Look at your face, look in the mirror
You see your outline and you close your eyes
Look at the lights, look at the city
Who's gonna be here when everybody dies
Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies
Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies
Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies
Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies
Until then, nothing ends
No one is lost
Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies
Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies
Until then, nothing ends
No one is lost
Another life, another weekend
Another message checker looking for a friend
You got a pulse, you got a problem
We know the real you so why do you pretend?
The velvet rope, the soft eyed bouncer
The girls all shiver in their high heeled shoes
The ones inside, all feel like winners
Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose
Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose
Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose
Until then, nothing ends
No one is lost
Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose
Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose
Put your hands up if you know you're gonna lose
Until then, nothing ends
No one is lost
No one is lost
No one is lost
Back to the crib, back to the castle
The bottle's empty and my bed's unmade
You have the looks, you had the lover
You're being brave but we know that you're afraid
Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid
Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid
Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid
Put your hands up, put your hands up
Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid, yeah
Until then, nothing ends
Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid
No one is lost
No one is lost
Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid
Put your hands up, put your hands up
Put your hands up if you ever feel afraid, yeah
Until then, nothing ends
No one is lost
No one is lost
No one is lost
No one is lost
Thanks ❤

Any one have a translation for the french bit at the beggining? All ive found was the repeated part Personne ne reste, which is "Nobody stays".
something like "the morning after a party, the consequences repeat and repeat until you fall asleep. nobody stays, nobody stays, nobody stays.."

Don't be silly - those lyrics are just wonderful. 'Put your hands up 'cause everybody dies"
They've always been electronic, and yes, the lyrics are just wonderful.
***** I was not saying anything about the lyrics. And yeah they always been somewhat electronic but not as much as that. It's a trend anyway : Arcade Fire used it, Coldplay.... I just don't like it
I agree. Stars totally sold out by using such a trendy techno sound.
David Bourgeois The rest of the album isnt as much so
If cut copy and m83 had a love child with no creativity
Dan J they have better songs. Check out dead hearts
@@athenamartin3442 no stars is better your opinion is worth nothing
Why do all the bands I like gradually start making generic sounding club music? Sorry Stars. Sorry Goldfish.
