I love how Chris always has original ideas and still puts great quality in his content
No wonder why he has almost 50 thousand subscribers and hundreds of active ones
This shows how powerful expectations are...
Could not agree more. Expectations have ruined enough good coasters for me that I won’t watch reviews of coasters I haven’t ridden anymore
Hagrids at IOA is my #1 Bucket List coaster (yes above steel vengeance) and I hope it doesn’t disappoint.
Pennsylvania is so underrated
Pennsylvania might not be the best state for coasters, by the numbers, but it's the state where I'd most want to do a statewide tour of coaster parks. It's like a throwback to the era when small local and regional amusement parks still thrived everywhere. Hersheypark exists and is world-class, but it somehow hasn't killed all the others.
(Though it's also a state where I've actually visited a now-defunct park: the short-lived Magic Valley Park in Bushkill.)
Half of all of Kentucky Kingdom’s coasters are in this video.
9:23 it kinda looks like magnum has a dive loop there lol.
Imagine a dive loop on an arrow hyper with those awesome transitions 😂
Boomerang at La Ronde shot up due to a sudden downpour that hit when I went on, due to my mask it was like a mild waterboarding, was an experience I will never forget
Happy Holidays! Thanks for the video!
I love Fahrenheit! It has great airtime, nice positives, and decent hangtime. It’s also pretty whippy! Also, I love skyrush’s layout but DESPISE the restraints. And I’m pretty damn skinny. The color scheme, pacing, and positives are great as well! Crazy airtime even though you don’t lift out of your seat. Night rides are really good two! The problem is, it was running super fast at night with a full train when I rode it.
You need to ride Knobels twister on a hot day.
You wont regret it.
It's a really good ride.
It's not forceless.
@@AirtimeThrills I’m not sure I want to visit Knoebels anymore if it always rains out on Twister.
This channel never disappoints
I got on mako again and forgot how much I liked it, definitely shot up in mine. Happy Holidays Chris!
Great vid & Merry Christmas Chris!
I don’t agree that skyrush is boring, it’s just simple. The layout still gets you airtime comparable to El Toro. Change my mind.
Magnum would definitely be high in my list if they would just get new restraints. If it got softer lap bars I would actually enjoy the air time.
I couldn’t agree more with Fahrenheit, it destroyed my expectations!
I love your videos that every time you post a video I watch the video ameediotly and I wish you a merry Christmas!!!!
Glad to hear more support for Legend
Zippin Pippin was a major one for me (it went from #19-6)
Man, definitely disappointed that Outlaw Run didn’t move up, I love that coaster
This was my first time ever going to HW and KK, and legend, voyage, thunder run and lightning run all blew away my expectations so I think I’ll hear rides were just running rly good this year
Steel Vengeance took the biggest hit for me. I left last year thinking it was the most mind blowing experience I’ve ever had on a coaster in my life. This year...it was still great, don’t get me wrong, it just didn’t wow me and leave me nearly the giggly mess I was last year, especially with my back row ride at night (flawless). I hate to say it, but I actually bumped Dragster back up to number one this year and SteVe to two. I’m sure that will change next year.
That actually happened the first time I rode it. I was expecting to be speechless but people overhyped it with their cartoonish reactions. It was still amazing and in my top 5
SteVe also wasnt spectacular for me but without riding in the back row its hard to judge
@@AirtimeThrills you could say the same for Millie though, always a back seat ride, in my opinion.
@@coastervelocity3899 First experiences were spectacular, it’s the ones this year with half loaded trains that disappointed me. lol
I know what your saying with how amazing back row night rides are on that thing! They are unbeatable experiences!
You are in fact one of two youtubers I watch every new video of.
Thanks for putting Thunder Run on here, it is a great airtime machine. It just needs more hills in the second half.
I totally agree with you on Powder Keg. Forceful launch, fun airtime.
Also, try riding Wildfire in the front. Easily best row.
Yep, it blew me away. This year, I went to SDC during Christmas. I rode all of their coasters at night during the densest fog I’ve seen. Powder keg in the front was kinda surreal
All right ill give it a shot in the front. Im always chasing that ejector on the drop in the back
@@AirtimeThrills it gives a much better ride. In my opinion, it’s better than kumba and hulk.
Millennium Force was honestly running fairly forceless. I used to grey out every other ride, but i didnt fully grey out once this year.
I only got to go to my home park of Kennywood this year. But from my two different trips to Cedar Point in 2018 and 2019, I experienced this with Millennium Force and Raptor. In 2018, Raptor gave me a great ride and I really liked it. In 2019 the ride felt much more rough and gave me a headache. In 2018, Millennium Force made me gray out (which scared me cause it had never happened to me before) and thus I couldn’t really enjoy it. In 2019, I was prepared and enjoyed Millennium Force a lot more. Great video as always!
Cool! If you upload with this schedule, I'll get an Airtime Thrills on my birthday next Monday! :)
Can't wait for that Top 50 2020 list. We shared 5 coasters in top 10 for 2019. Wondering if Raging Bull can hold on to that top 10 spot.
Nice to see Maggie getting some more love.
As for Millennium Force, I got off last year, thought it was fun, but ran back over to Maggie.
I love that you call her Maggie. We got a deal to stay at hotel breakers this summer and you can walk right under the Magnum hills and there's maybe a boomerang of a tipsy me hugging the support beams!
@@sarahfisher9928 I had a dog named Maggie, who passed away at 12 this past summer (she wasn't named after the coaster), but in the past few years, I always said I love my two Maggies.
That's awesome you got to do that. I always do that at Wonderland with Leviathan, and someone always stares. lol
Dude, finally someone is giving Powder Keg some credit! Got my first rides a couple days ago and wow what an underrated ride!
Edit: Hit right on the mark with Wildfire too! 😂
Can't wait for the updated Top 50 video!
Glad to see Thunder Run getting love. Almost no one ever talks about it but it's super fun. It's no top 50 coaster but it deserves love.
I’m a big Twister fan. To me, the ride is about the entire experience and not just the forces. I love the fast turn out of the station, the stacked lifts, the turnaround before the drop, the twisted layout, the surprise tunnel, the way that the train runs beneath the structure. I usually get moderately good air and I think the 2 big drops are solid.
any good coaster that went bad: GO BACK 7000 CREDITS
Legend was a big winner for you. That’s great!
Man I love Holiday World.
Their coasters are fantastic. The legend and the Voyage (2018 ride) were still great. Coming from my home park (Six Flags St Louis) this place is mind blowing.
Now earlier that year I had my first real coaster ride as before I refused any inversions. That first ride happened to be the SDC Time Traveler. (Helluva first)
I loved that ride and I've ridden every coaster I've seen since. It might just be my bias from that day but I think you should give SDC Wildfire another try, I enjoyed it more than Powder Keg.
At Six Flags St Louis, what's your opinion on The Boss? I don't think you've talked about it yet you used a clip from it in a video. I was surprised when in your recent video you referred to American Thunder as the main attraction of the park, as everyone I've talked to puts The Boss at the top. (Equal or second to the Mr. Freeze RB clone)
Subscribed to you a couple days ago and love your content!
P.S have you ridden Holiday World's water coaster The Wildebeest? I know it's a completely different style, but I really enjoyed that ride.
I was only able to get ten new credits this year, on my senior trip to the Disney and Universal parks
I rode Troy in August and enjoyed it, then got a ton more rides in Oct/Nov and its now top of my wood rankings. Love that ride.
thank for the upload chris
Both Skyrush, and Steel Force jumped up in my rankings. Steel force was out of my top 50 and after my airtime filled rides this year, it’s now sitting at number 14. Skyrush went from 11, to 4 even beating out steel Vengeance
Twister I feel is is all about the Laterals. You need that speed and weight of the train and with the cold I can see why it wasn't impressive. But just like Phoenix if you give another chance with warmer weather and a full train you will see how good it can be. Keep up the good work Chris and from my family to yours have a Happy Holidays.
Great video!
I definitely want to go to more parks 2021. I added one more park this year having only been to 5 parks in my entire life.
You should make a video about your favorite coasters at each park
I’d say the biggest winner for me is blue streak, since I didn’t really like the ride I got years ago but now after this years rides, it’s in my top 20
Nice vid!
If I have to pick one for me, it's Superman Ride of Steel at SFA. When I first rode it, it was my number 20 out of 50 or so credits and my 4th favorite coaster in the park. Now, it sits at my number 5 out of 81, 13 spots ahead of the next coaster in the park
If you were at closing day this season for Holiday World, they were running Thunderbird with the launch program they use to test empty trains. It was hitting around 68mph on the launch, and it was ridiculous. You got airtime off the immelmann and it was whippy like an old invert.
My home park is Silver Dollar City, and it is so hard to pick a favorite coaster there. Though I do think that my favorite coaster at the park is Wildfire. I've just come to the realization that I LOVE B&M coasters, even the dull ones. Wildfire is a bit more rough than when I first rode it, but I still very much appreciate it, especially given the fact that we were both born in the same year.
That’s funny, I put Wildfire at #5, only in front of Fire in the hole and the grand exposition. That’s only because Powder Keg and Thunderation shattered my expectations. But that shows how amazing that lineup is
We only went to Cedar Point this summer and we haven't been to a ton of parks but what is with Magnum this year? I've been riding that coaster for 20 years and it was always my favorite. After a front row ride on Millennium? It was dethroned years ago.
This year, we were on the first 10 cars of the day for Millennium and got assigned last row. Definitely coming around to the appeal of last rows and it was a pretty great ride but I agree, seemed to not feel quite right, maybe a little slow.
Magnum? Damn, I swear that coaster hasn't run like THAT in years! I tend to think it's just about the most perfect layout ever conceived from start to finish but the turn arounds were the one spots really showing their age and were REALLY rough for awhile. This year? We got assigned front car and it was shockingly smooth yet still ripping you out of your seat on the bunny hops. Based on our one 2020 visit to a park, yup, Magnum jumps to the top over Millennium. Also, yes Steel Vengeance...that's #1 but I've only ridden it once and it's a blur of WTF was that?
Did T3 move up into your top 400?
When I was 7, Sidewinder at Hersheypark was my favorite coaster😂. It sure ain't anymore
@@badgerstatecoasters7725 cmon, he was gp what should you expect
I tend to have mixed opinions when it comes to Sidewinder, I praise it for its intensity and simplicity, but hate the roughness of the transitions
When u said thunder run is now my favourite... I thought I were going to say in the park. Has maverick moved up in ur rankings at all?
After this year, Maverick is pretty much the same. I got 1 ride and it didnt change my opinion at all
My second place ride until 3 days ago was the swarm at Thorpe park but after 2 front row rides on the smiler the smiler is now my second favourite coaster and stealth is still my favourite
About what you said with the heavy rain on Twister. I once road Front Row on Fury 325 and right as we left the station It started chucking it… could barely open my eyes the whole time. I think I have PTSD about it now :/
Oh gosh, Wildfire is sounding like Kumba... They need retracks like Hulk got!
Shot Down:
Actually nothing. My rerides on coasters were just as good as before if not better. Some dropped in my rankings but that was simply because of newcomers.
Shot Up:
1. Incredible Hulk - I liked my one ride on it at the start of this year. I had it at #7, actually below an SLC that I found more fun (I know, strange). But my rerides in December made put it at #4 (even with the new top 3), as I realized just how great this one is. It's too bad that Kumba didn't live up to the hype this one started. (Yes, I know that it technically doesn't count if I rode it the same year as I rerode it, but tbh, pre-virus 2020 felt much different than post-virus 2020, and the quarantine felt like a year separator.)
2. Hagrid's - Since I only got 1 ride in January, I didn't have it as my #1, being #2, below White Lightning. Fast forward to December, and my rerides were just as good if not better, putting it at a solid #3 spot (below newcomers Mako and Manta) and above White Lightning.
Coasters whose spots were further justified:
White Lightning - Still lots of fun!
Mine Blower - Rough, but still not unbearable, even after hurting my neck on Kumba
Galaxy Spin - Still crazy fun like always!
Revenge of the Mummy
Escape from Gringotts
Rides I was supposed to get on this year were Orion (Closed for the day), Coasters at Magic Mountain (Flights were cancelled and we couldnt drive there), and I was supposed to get a back row ride on Magnum but i never did
There were only 2 coasters I re-rode this year, Diamondback and Mystic Timbers (KI was slammed when I was there, I got 4 rides on Orion and 1 ride on Diamondback and Mystic Timbers). I would consider both to be better than I remember. With Mystic Timbers, most of it has to do with the fact that I really learned how to ride a GCI in August 2017 when I was at Worlds of Fun and marathoned Prowler, getting somewhere between 35 and 50 rides on it in just 1 day and I was able to use that knowlege to make my 2020 ride on Mystic Timbers better, which it absolutely did. I considered Mystic Timbers to be in a lower tier than Prowler in 2017 but now I see them in the same tier. I still slightly prefer Prowler because of that subterrainian dive but I could see why someone would prefer Mystic Timbers which I couldn't before. In the case of Diamondback I'd say I just forgot how insane the airtime in the back row is. You want Skyrush level airtime with more comfortable restraints? It's called Diamondback. As for the 11 new credits I picked up this year, the big winner for exceeding my expectations is Skyliner at Lakemont Park. You get straight up ejector on those first few drops and only a buzbar to restrain you, it's awesome. If I had to pick a looser it would be Candymonium. I love it and the ops gave plenty of room for airtime, and it was my 200th credit. That said I had heard people saying "best B&M hyper" which it is certainly not, I'd say it's in the same tier as their early hypers and there are at least 4 I'd take over it. That being said I did ride it in November, not exactly optimal conditions in terms of the temperature to speed ratio. However, it's hard to call it a "looser" when the ops don't even try to staple you and my evaluating it vs other B&M hypers is if the restraint was placed as low by the ops.
I feel that farenheight gets so overlooked because it’s at the same park as sky rush, candy oh jump and storm runner at any other park it could be the best or second But at Hershey I like 4. Just shows how elite Hershey’s lineup of coasters is
Merry Christmas everyone!!! Happy Holidays!!!
Shocked about millennium force I road it the first time in July and it was my favorite in the park! Can’t wait to ride it in better conditions and I might love it more
One of my 2020 highlights has to be discovering this channel
It's mostly his fault and me finally finding out how much I can dose my husband with Dramamine that we are planning epic coaster trips for 2021. I was obsessed with coasters as a teen like he was but then went on to other things. Welp....now I am back!
The Raptor at Cedar Point was so rough when I rode it with friends but never used to be. When we got off my friends had to take asperin for their headaches and we left and went home after riding. It really ruined our day.
Great Bear made the biggest jump of my reride coasters this year. I thought of it as the weakest B&M invert after my 2017 rides and that honestly was mainly because of the ending, but after my 2020, it's definitely in my top half of B&M inverts I've ridden because of how whippy those 4 inversions are.
Due to covid, I only revisited Kings Island and Cedar Point. (I also went to Dollywood, but it was my first time there.)
Magnum XL 200 moved WAY up. I used to think that it was unbearably painful. But since they added more padding to the restraints, I understand why this roller coaster is so popular. It's amazing how much a ride can change with improved restraints (like Maverick).
Millennium Force dropped in my ranking, as well. That first hill is still impressive and fast, but the ride slows down and pretty much loses all of its force. My last ride was actually boring.
I give Millennium a lot of credit for helping me get over my fear of tall coasters, but now that I've rode Fury 325 and Orion, Millennium just doesn't stack up.
The fact that Magnum is over 30 years old still holds up so well it’s ranked above the original Giga by many other enthusiasts as well shows that it really is Arrow’s greatest creation. Out of my 49 credits it’s probably 3rd best for me behind Banshee and Diamondback but when I get to Great Adventure and ride El Toro and when I finally get my first Steel Vengeance ride it’ll probably slide down to 5th
Which coasters have you fallen asleep on for at least part of the ride because they are bland?
I will list parks I am going in the future domestically and internationally so I can know what to expect.
What about sky rushes swooping turns second hill and Stengel dive ? Just thought they were meh ? The turns for me had a lot of force and the second hill being almost as good as the first and the Stengel dive is pretty decent
He hasn't ridden back left yet, which is why he's not mentioning the Stengel dive.
LOVE LOVE LOVE Phoenix at Knobeles. One of my fave roller coasters of all time!
I totally agree about Millennium Force. My August rides were nowhere near as good as my 2018 rides. I had to drop it a fair amount in my rankings. Unfortunately, Magnum was riding very rough that day, so I couldn't fully appreciate the good things about it. Those were my overall 2 biggest losers. Some of my biggest winners on the year were Lightning Run, Thunderhead, Monster, and Mako.
You should have rode thunderbird in the back. I rode it during the same event and it was amazing.
The only park I got to this year was Waldameer. So I'd say a few things. Ravine Flyer II dropped quite a bit in my rankings. It's a lot more rough than I remember and I ended up getting stapled so it felt like a thigh crusher for me. I won't deny it has good elements, but for me, especially with those ptc trains, it was not very fun. Steel Dragon I just have to say is my favorite spinning coaster. It's smooth, the ride ops don't staple you, and it has good elements. Comet also went up a little bit because there is actually a small pop of air time on it which was surprising.
Wicked cyclone in the rain or immediately after rain is absolutely bat shit crazy. The track gets insanely slick, and the airtime goes from strong to almost painful because of the lap bars, the turns go from fast to flat out intense, the inversions give whip rather than hang time, especially the stall beneath the drop. But the best part is that the third lap is faster, and there’s more airtime over all. Definitely try it with a wet track if possible
I think you've said (Or someone in your video comments have) - You need to get to Knoebels on a warm sunny day.
I don't disagree with you on Twister however, to me it's lost the edge it had. It's been smoothed out a little too much, vs. Phoenix where the smoothing work has benefited it.
Man my GF had to drag me onto Thunderbird this year for a reride cause the G's were so insane. Every element and curve had me fighting for consciousness. But we were there on a hot af day.
I noticed in the 2020 videos millennium was crawling up the lift hill when normally it goes over it very fast I think they slowed it down because of the reduced capacity and train cleaning. At full speed that first set of breaks barely stops it I think that’s why they slowed it down. Hopefully it’s back up to full speed next year
okay, i rode the voyage for the first time this year, and i was a little dissapointed given how much people were hyping it up. i was expecting something like el toro but i got a COMPLETELY different vibe from this, and i thought the airtime was weak just like you when you first rode it! the speed and out-of-control feeling did surprise me and i loved that, but i was expecting something a little better. i rode it at the back row on a hot sunny day in july with half capacity, so it should have been running perfect, but i was a bit dissapointed. were my expectations too high? is it wrong to expect el toro's godly airtime on the voyage or did i do something wrong lol
Voyage always had weaker airtime but this year i thought it was more legit. Still nowhere near the god tier airtime of Toro
I have a hard time ranking coasters overall, but Mystic Timbers is one coaster that just gets better and better every time I ride it. My first impressions in 2018 were that it was way overhyped, then in 2019 I was asking myself what was I thinking? Then after a few more rides in 2020, it's probably my #2 or 3 at KI
I had such a high opinion of MT after 2018 I was just happy it remained as high as it did after 2020
There’s some decent laterals on twister not like legend but not force less
You think riding twister in the rain is bad ride kingda ka when its drisiling I got little red spots all over my face also try nitro in the rain its fun
Do a video on magic rows
The one coaster on this list that I've ridden is Fahrenheit, almost exactly ten years ago. It's a great ride, but my enjoyment of it was tempered a bit by the terrible line to ride it. It's got a low capacity for a park the size of Hersheypark, and at the time it was the newest headlining attraction.
Last year, Skyrocket at Kennywood ran pretty bad. This year, they didn't staple me. Riding in the back, I got stronger airtime than most other rides there.
In previous years, Racer at Kennywood didn't do much. This year, left side, left seat, back row had strong airtime in some areas.
@@AirtimeThrills Yeah, I will admit that it isn't as good in any other row/seat. The left side is a little better than the right, and the left seat is better than the right. In my experiences, it has been worth the wait. It is best around sun set. Now, it also provides some good views of Steel Curtain.
Sceaming Eagle went up so much spots of my rankings this year it is running so good
Thank goodness someone agrees with me that it’s a great ride. So glad to have it at my home park
Got 17 new credits in 2020 as it was my first year with a pass for the merlin parks here in the uk.
4:40
Classic Chris
5:20
The heaviest rain I've ever experienced on a coaster was on an SLC and it hurt.
Yes!! Fahrenheit finally getting the love it deserves
You're right about Wildfire being bad with an empty train. But as long as you keep your head forward, it won't be too bad. Oddly enough, Powder Keg's launch has been neutered from when it first opened to help with reliability. It's still strong, but it was even stronger when it first opened in 2005
@@justiceleaguebattleformetr9239 yes. It originally opened going from 0-60 but it's been slowed to 0-53. It still packs a punch
The Twister description reminds me of my first ride on I305, It was downpouring!
I sure hope you enjoyed your 2020 stay at Kentucky Kingdom, because for that entire season the management at the park were treating the workers like absolute crap. We paid for your enjoyment. lol
I love farenhight its pretty intense and that last airtime hill is incredible I rode it in 2019
My biggest winner was Expedition GeForce. I rode it back in 2014 and i wasn’t a big fan at all. I actually preferred Sky Scream, the parks Sky Rocket II. But now after riding it again, it has climbed up in my personal ranking and now sits on the second spot.
My biggest loser was Blue Fire at Europa Park. I also rode it for the last time in 2014 and it was actually in my Top 10 back then. But after reriding it in June, it dropped pretty low. I rode Taron a few days before thus Blue Fire just seemed bland and boring. The only good element of the ride is the inline twist at the end. It’s just not really good.
Where was sky rush before your 2020 rides
You should make a video of the coolest coaster train designs
Fr tho
I really like the b&m hyper train on diamondback, behemoth, and intimidator.
