Even more impressive were the many doubles he scorched into the alleys, down the lines, over the heads of leaping outfielders. Game after game, Winfield was often the guy who hit the ball hardest. And he had a rifle arm that kept many baserunners from trying that extra base. *Great* player.
Good times wasn't it? As a Yankee fan of course I hate the Red Sox but they had good players. Dwight Evans, Jim Rice , Bill Buckner, Rich Gedman, Wade Boggs, Marty Barrett, Dave Henderson. Those were some blood baths in the 80s.
@@JHollowayNetwork Hmm never thought of it that way. He was decent when with the Yankees, but of course it was nothing close to what Reggie was. Of course Jr. (GRIFFEY) vowed never to play for the Yankees because of how they treated his father
Then, they had to trade Winfield to the Angels because they were in need of starting pitching (Those were terrible times for the Yankees before Gene “Stick” Michael took over).
He was no MR MAY!! Steinbrenner hated Winfield. How are the Yankees going to win World Series with an old Phil Niekro old Tommy John and garbage pitchers like Bob Shirley and Shane Rawley? Dave did hit with the Blue Jays in the WS.

Growing up a Red Sox fan, i hated the Yankees but loved Winfield and Reggie.

Ken Griffey, Sr. was Reggie Jackson’s Yankee replacement, though he had back issues.

Greatest athlete who ever lived
Incredible player!
You’re missing some clips when he hit home runs for the Padres

The Yankees were a Wild Card team for most of the 80s, but there were no wild cards back then. If you won the division, you went into the postseason.
Still the most hated Yankee of all-time. I mean, by Yankee fans. And deservedly so.
