As an Englishman who has lived in Germany for 56 years and speak both English and German fluently, I have always
been disturbed about many people here are reluctant to speak English correctly. There is term for German English,
Denglish. Even in schools they are taught incorrect pronunciation. Thed worst example is saying e for an a, so a cat
becomes a cet, bad becomes bed etc.Yet if people listen to singers often enough they hear the correct pronunciation.
I worked for Xerox and one time when a representative from the US visited Düsseldorf on an important matter, I
had to interpret because he could not fully understand Denglish.
President Macron speaks excellent English, a big complement from me.

I'm not going to RESPECT a terrorist country like Russia, which inflicts unimaginable amounts of pain on innocent Ukrainians, and is responsible for endless suffering in the world. Wow.. Macron has changed so much through the years, as a Danish European, I'm really proud of having a leader in Europe like Macron. He understands the current political situation in the world with equality and the climate. What is actually beautiful about this war and it's the only thing of course, is how much connected we all are on this planet, a war happening in Ukraine is hurting everyone and we are all forced to work together. What Macron said about countries like China and India, we all have to be on the same side, and we as the West have to understand them, keep in mind we are not perfect, and only those 2 countries together are more than 2 billion people on our planet. We have to make plans to help other countries build up, and not only think about our own development but together as people. Right now the sad reality is that the rich countries really don't care about poor countries staying poor, and we probably won't do anything about Russia when Putin is defeated, it will stay poor till the next mad leader gets to power.

What Putin wants is to expand Russia to restore Soviet territories like a delusional dream and seize more territories and their ressources and strategic position. He is using eastern Ukraine people, using their partially Russian culture, feeding them with anger and weapons to weaken Ukraine as a society.
As long as the pro Russian government in Ukraine have been removed in 2014, the political war was lost by Russia and they start the military one, seizing Crimea.
There is a huge gap between the legitimate will of the fraction of the Ukrainian that have a pro Russian culture background to be respected and the cynical military invasion of a country to seize its land and ressources under false reasons that are always changing without making sense : NATO claims then NAZI claims the eastern Ukrainians protection claims, ... It is just delusionnal.

Any country even the United States would do the same. Obviously there are other reasons the first is that Mali wants the UN mission to leave its territory but the Security Council does not want it.
As for popular support, let me laugh at your ignorance on this continent because the majority of African heads of state are not very popular with the population, because they do not respect their commitment, such as respecting their constitution. Usually the West acts to interfere against undemocratic countries but when they do not act, there is suspicion that these heads of state are their puppet. This is all geopolitics. The former Malian president who was a civilian was corrupt and hated must put a little water in his wine.
Mali is not isolated, Africa is divided pro-Western countries and those more neutral, Mali can count on Algeria, Guinea, Senegal of brother countries. We were wrong it is not the African Union that has no weight, it is ECOWAS in which Mali is isolated the rest of Africa does not care what is happening in the Sahel and Africa from West.
As for Macron, if you know how to speak French, follow the news in France, the guy is hated by almost all political parties, he has no absolute majority in parliament, during the national holiday he was booed and insulted by the population, in the end he was re-elected with 50% participation. It's easy to point fingers at specific nations but pretty much everybody signed up for cooperation and dependence on each other as the best deterrent for conflicts. The best model is strong cooperation but without this inherent dependence which has proved itself to be a weakness.

Kinda refreshing from a politician, if you ask me.

Agreed - his emphasis on respect for India, China, Africa and even Russia was striking; I can’t remember hearing a western world leader speak like that before. I feel quite embarrassed because it never even occurred to me until Biden’s speech the other day that Africa has no representatives at the highest levels of the UN. That’s SO messed up.
Also, I think that the twin failures of Iraq and Afghanistan have taught the USA and UK a valuable lesson regarding the imposition of democracy: it cannot work unless the people want it, and understand / work out how to make it work for their culture and society.
It’s pretty mad that it’s taken many of us until now to realise this, seeing as the USA needed two wars almost a century apart before their democracy fully stabilised, and in the UK it took us over 700 years to get from first steps (Magna Carta) to full democracy.
And even now, people’s freedoms and protections are not fully secure in either country. I was taught as a child to see the world as being divided between ‘free’ and ‘unfree’. I now realise that was wrong. It’s not a binary divide: it’s a sliding scale. As January 6th so terrifyingly demonstrated, the scale can tip towards ‘unfree’ VERY fast.
We’ve all got to participate in our democracies and exercise our rights as much as we can, or they will be taken from us.
Sorry that got so long - was thinking out loud as it were.
