That is probably the best advice you've ever given on the channel: "Slow down".
A lot of people think they are playing Burnout and will jam on the boost every time the car is pointing straight and that brakes are overrated.

Very good insight in this one. Mechanics are important because they allow you to do what you want to do effectively and efficiently. But high game IQ will get you far regardless of rank. I feel like developing a good game sense and sound decision making early is important. As time goes on and you get more and more mechanically solid, you’ll be able to be more efficient and precise and therefore more effective overall. But it all starts with good game awareness and decision making.
True. Unfortunately this is not the current state of RL, it's completely backwards.
Mechanics definitely matter more in Rocket League though. Someone with poor game sense and top tier mechanics can easily get to GC and even SSL, but the reverse is absolutely not true. Game sense only gives you the edge on people around your mechanical skill level. Without mechanical development, you'll hit a skill ceiling very fast.
@@DonPasquale_ If you don't understand rotational basics and positioning, you're only doing your team a disservice. Go watch Flakes or Aircharged Gaming, both have road to GC/SSL in multiple game modes, with little to no mechanics. You can destroy lobbies with 3 guys who know how to position themselves correctly with simple shots on the net. The truth is, you need a blend of both to be at the top.
Mechanics allow you to perform the tasks that you need to while gamesense will give you these tasks

I am not mechanical having only picked up RL during the pandemic.
My aerials, saves, and power shots are consistent tho. I literally do not know any advanced mechanic. Even my wall aerials are bad.
But my game sense and rotations thanks to squishy / Garett I would say is above average.
I consistently hit C2 for the past 3 seasons.

think empathizing with your teammates on misses is more important to succeeding in random queues than anything.
Once you understand the "why" behind a perceived miss or misplay, you can adapt and react accordingly the next time that situation may occur.
Most people have a tendency to forgive themselves when they err and condemn the actions of other without seeing it from their view.

I managed to rank up (from silver) to plat 2 by playing slow and try to play smart, watching out for my teammates. And my mechanics are really bad, I can't even hit the ball from the wall. Game sense related advices by Squishy are really helpful. I will never be high elo, but improving game sense can help you rank up very much.

I appreciate the coaching, but whenever I try to implement these kinds of tips I find my self playing 3rd man for 5 minutes, and the times I do get to be first - both my teammates are literally in our net or sniffing my fumes... And so I turned to 2s, best decision I've made so far.

@@coltonlindenman7255 Competitive rocket league mains off people able to adapt and commit to improvement or progress if you feel you can't adapt, only other option is to practice skills able to counter opponents or satisfy your needs.
Road to grand champ is something, but grand champ to ssl is the real grind where you have the mechs, the game sense, and all of these things but trying to make them better. It’s like lvl 1 air dribbles to lvl 10 air dribbles or lvl 1 challenges to lvl 20 challenges. It’s all about upgrading your arsenal

Yeah but I was baiting for you see me on the left or right for a low pass? No u just see airdribble every play lol. I just ignore and move on. He be asking me how I'm GC 2.
