I originally also thought the solo was too long, but I listened again and it was pretty much at least in the spirit of the way Jimi would go off on tangents and jam. I am OK with it... Great job. This guy can play his @ss off, too.

I agree. The riff is like a small flame that's really important to keep alive and not stray too far away from. It's the pilot light of the whole song.
