    Heys Guys, I took up hanging about a year ago and love it. It’s also helped with some shoulder injuries. I’ve been trying to get into pull ups for several years but every time I do I end up with elbow problems. I’m 70 years out and love everything exercise related, I would really like to improve on my pull ups. Any advise on my elbow issues with pull ups?

    • @TheWayofKen
      @TheWayofKen 7 місяців тому +4

      Try chin-ups (easier). Jump up or use a chair and concentrate on the downwards portion. Isometric holds at various points also are low stress strength builders.

    • @Wildonnor
      @Wildonnor 7 місяців тому +7

      Often elbow pain is caused by tight or weak forearms. But it's worth seeing a decent physio and seein if they can test your mobility and strength in diff areas and rly work out what the root issue is. Don't go to a doctor tho, theyre useless

    • @balazsbrankovics2996
      @balazsbrankovics2996 7 місяців тому +1

      If I remember correctly then biceps and triceps isolation training should help. Partially due to using the affected area (aim for 10+ rep range), plus those two are stabilizing your elbows. Also you can play with hanging with slightly bent arms, isometric holds, they are easier on the joints but can help you build strength.

    Anyone looking to slowly get into shape when they feel the gym and most exercises are beyond them; pay close attention to this video.
    Not only do these all increase grip, forearm, and lat strength, but the FIRST step from getting from completely out of shape, to COMFORTABLE mobility (the most underrated and least discussed aspect of health), are these hangs, and other assisted variations... you will quickly build core strength, and that will make you realize how important at least introductory strength is to the ease of moving through the day to day of life.

    You missed one :):) My favorite hang is with the loops that go around your elbows (commonly used for knee raises or abs). Less grip strength is required so it’s easy for almost anyone. I like to hang with one arm at a time and spin 360 degrees left and right. Really opens up the shoulders and gives your grippers a break.
