@evangoff4363 thanks mate, incredibly lucky to get that weather window, Otherwise it wouldn't have been so nice! Been rubbish weather since! Sika are tough animals living up there!
@wilberthreehundred6402 no legends here mate, obviously confused with someone else lol. Just try to put in some honest yards and get lucky now and then
Amazing effort there g-dawg . That’s a heck of a walk. And to push through that snow laden bush is commitment . Love seeing stags out sunning themselves in middle of day . And Harry’s stag of course . Oh to be young again . Cheers
@sikahill Seeing and watching stags like that is just about the ultimate for me. Harry's stag is pretty special, he will look back on that in 20 or 30 years and realize how lucky he is
big mission glen looked bloody icy up top good drone skills too walking and flying at the same time, that 200m shot was a (SHIT SHOT MATE)haaha it happens to all us hunters even at 20m.Good video man
@ruahinehunter7441 Cheers mate!! Your old Nana could probably have thrown a rock at that deer lol...not my first miss and won't be my last! Keeps the bullet people employed lol...cheers for watching
Hey, another good video.. I noticed with the missed shot your body was quite high to get the downhill shot. This can cause the butt to drop in your shoulder at the shot causing you to shoot high. I have a piece of foam about 25 cm long taped along the butt end of my sling which I use as a back rest . This has stopped me missing those shots.
Fantastic vid mate, I can remember listening to The lone ranger and Tonto as a kid lol. Those sika aye out in the open middle of winter, they like that sun!. Good info on the tracks into there, plan on doing that trip myself sometime. Cheers
you're doing ok for an old guy mate ! you'd still walk the legs off most. and now Tonto is crossing the swing bridges so thats surely a win. Always enjoy your trips , this one i actually felt cold watching you. thanks for sharing.
@gregwells8764 Enough of the 'old guy' lol. It's funny, I don't feel old yet! 1966 probably suggests otherwise, but the fire still burns to climb the hills
This is my third video of yours today after finding your channel today and loveing the quailty of your work, top marks. Regarding your 200yd miss, was the angle steep, as all steep angle shots up or down hill will hit high and has to be adjusted for!
I'll definitely get to the rifle range soon and confirm what's going on. I possibly was guilty of having those backsteaks in the fry pan before I pulled the trigger
Yeah parallax adjustment at that distance won’t cause a miss like that glen . Don’t rely on the yardage increments on the parallax just adjust it to suit you at what ever range your shooting at so it gives you a clean full view through the scope .
That seems to be the message coming through loud and clear!! I'll definitely get to the rifle range before the next mission to confirm it was me and not the mighty 308
Try hard to keep the weight off my frame, no point carrying an extra 6 to 8kgs. Little bit of biking when I can and a few walks with the dogs. Otherwise it's built up hunting fitness
@@BackridgeButcher that's the one, as I get older the cycling works well for the knee strength but the older ya get the more ya need to do. Your going well. Alot of younger guys struggle to walk as far as you👌
Awesome video again mate, My parallax dial on my VX5HD is easily turned when I carry it…. Either by the forearm in my left hand or my thigh in my right hand. I have emailed Leupold about it to see if there was a fix alas there is not. Interestingly a mates one exactly the same is much firmer and doesn’t dial by itself. Oh Happy birthday by the way 🍺 🎂
bad jelly the witch, another great watch
@philipevans4219 That came a bit after The Lone Ranger! Soon became number ONE and I eventually bought the record!!
For someone who is out by himself this is awesome videography, loved watching this.
@KawekaJC Thank you, really appreciate you taking the time to watch!
Outstanding video Glen. Love the use of the drone footage. Keep up the outstanding work show casing the park.
Thanks Harry, you inspired me to get off the couch for this mission mate
Kiwi living in Ireland really appreciated that. I felt like I was there. There is plenty of sika over here, mate if you're ever in the emerald Isles.
@@benroe1512 cheers mate, planning a trip over in 2026!! Will you still be there then??
Awesome video and footage Glenn, thanks for the trip mate, enjoyed the video, thumbs up and greetings from NZ,, Tony.
Cheers Tony, you can't beat winter adventures
This video is outstanding! Well done!! Really good work much appreciated 😁👌
Thanks mate!! really appreciate you taking the time to watch it! please subscribe for more
Awesome solo effort Glen! Thanks for sharing
Thanks for watching!
Another top vid Glenn. Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
Cheers for that. Manson Hut is a special place alright. Nice time of year to be up there by the looks of it.
@evangoff4363 thanks mate, incredibly lucky to get that weather window, Otherwise it wouldn't have been so nice! Been rubbish weather since! Sika are tough animals living up there!
Amazing views Glenn, bet that sausage roll tasted bloody awesome after that epic walk. I live to see stags like that in the wild
@nzbakerman thanks mate, those sausages rolls saved the day! Real food, with real energy 🙌
Thanks Glen for another awesome video of the Kawekas.
The Kawekas are the star! Such awesome country to explore and hunt. Got a few more missions planned
Hats off to you Glen another great trip… hang out for your vids mate you’re a legend, keep up the great work

@DustinHuntingNZ cheers mate, pleased you enjoyed it!
I was at the lakes fishing the night of the 5th stayed the night, it is beautiful up there
@sqdn How's the fishing in the lake? I've not tried to for many many years
@@BackridgeButcher Still see them jumping regularly, best to catch them just as the sun is setting and the bugs come out to play over the lake.
Awesome trip mate well done. Happy birthday to by the way. 🎉
Thanks for watching

@stevehugo3133 thanks Steve, that's bloody awesome advice, hopefully I can do better next time!!
enjoyed it! thanks BRB and tonto
Cheers mate, glad you enjoyed
Mean. Great walk. Amazing views. The dog did you proud getting across there. I'd have to strap mine to the pack...
She didn't want a bar of it on the return trip, swam the river instead! They do take a while to get used to bridges
Where was the whiskey bottle, well done
That's a good question, would have been nice to have a wee dram at the Manson
Fantastic vid mate, I can remember listening to The lone ranger and Tonto as a kid lol. Those sika aye out in the open middle of winter, they like that sun!. Good info on the tracks into there, plan on doing that trip myself sometime. Cheers
The Sika always enjoy the sun after a cold snap, and I guess it helps with little hunting pressure

@richardt.4224 I think it was just really really bad shooting on my part
Awesome hunt an great effort well done can be the parallax or sometimes if you shoot off hard ground with a bi pod the gun can jump a tad

Did that walk about 20 years ago but not in the snow.top effort. 👌
@nakisteelo4761 cheers mate, I'd suggest nothing has really changed in 20 year's, Kawekas are timeless
Great vid, love trips like that. Real character building. What sort of dayly training do you do to keep up your fitness?

Sometimes at the head of the gully in the morning when heat is rising it can cause the bullet to go 2-3 inches high . I have had this happen.
Thats certainly something I hadn't considered mate. Cheers for that

Thanks Greg, pretty sure it was just shocking shooting on my part! I will go to the range and make sure
No excuses for missing . Can't blame the gear . Lol 😂
A good tradie never blames his gear lol
More great kaweka hunting country.
What the heck are those trees, some type of pine?
@brucebest1166 Pinus Contorta, an introduced species that's now just a weed. One of those really really bad decisions made along time ago
Which model of Crispi boots do you use?
