First true test in mine yesterday, steep technical terrain while raining- I found them very stable, they stuck to everything like glue, and supremely comfortable. I’m using these over my speedgoats for long day trail stuff moving forward. For me these are awesome, which I never thought I’d say about a Nike shoe.
I received my Zegama 2's last week and have only had them out once thus far, but can definitely attest and confirm heat retention. Nothing out of control, but I agree with the 20-30 gram diet, which may've helped with air flow.
After running a bunch in the Hoka Tecton X2 (and using the original Zegama), I found these super clunky/heavy...on the fast down the ZoomX foam was great and the grip is definitely improved over V.1, but I'm definitely going back to the Tecton, especially for the uphill...
used the v1 and v2 and idk. The v2 is super bouncy, and very fun to run on however, the v1 is more "stable" for me. I used the S/Lab genesis the entirety of last season and felt that shoe was the best in stability, just a shame it doesn't work very well with my foot shape. Mixed feelings for the v2.
I’m sending them back, found them very heavy and clunky. I found the heel cup odd and couldn’t really get a lockdown, so lots of heel slippage. They also are really hot, and that was only after 10k. Felt stable and good grip, but they just felt like moon boots overall. I intended on using them for an 80k, but used the vectiv pro 2 instead which were surprisingly good. Light, cushioned, responsive, no heel slip and great lockdown overall.
Ok so I’ve just done 15k in them: They do run hot. I supinate a lot, and they allow for this - they don’t try make my gait do something it doesn’t want to do. For me they have just the right cushion vs stability - but I mostly run compacted trails. If I was doing more technical trails of say 20% or more I’d probably opt for a different shoe. I think the light colours aren’t a great idea for a trail shoe. I don’t find them to feel heavy, in any way. For what I do they seem ideal - I could see for others they may not be……
Still an absolute dud. Zero stability, bizarre foam shape/construction, zero breathability, retains every last drop of water it comes into contact with, just utterly thoughtless design. What on earth is the use case for these other than a dirt road in Arizona that’s been groomed with a rake? So bummed I let Nike dupe me yet again, with Vibram no less.
Those 2 pieces of stiff material around the lace eyelets are indeed very odd looking. Also wish Nike would have kept the logo styling on the first version.
Typical!! I had the original Zegamas and they were the most comfortable trail shoes I’ve had, BUT also the most rolled ankles per shoe. Gave up on them after a while and have just ordered some NB Hierro 8s for summer trails off the back of your review. Maybe should have waited for the in depth review on these! Keep up the good work Loyd 😊
I took them out a couple weeks ago. They performed great in an hour of rain and muddy wet trails. The rubber combined with the new lug pattern is a winner. I felt them actually sticking to everything
I'm doing SDW100 also, but haven't raced at all this year - amazing how much you have already done! It must help to have those views to keep you motivated
Does this shoe have a rock plate? Because the cutout on the rear of the outsole looks like an injury waiting to happen. I like my Nike shoes on the road and the trail versions are more comfortable than other brands but boy do they suck on very technical terrain... Either you got no grip or the shoe is rock hard or they are so unstable that you roll like crazy. I feel like Nike only makes them for very light trails but when I'm running on non-technical trails I just grab the Pegasus. Edit: I should also give Nike some credit, their trail shoes last waaaay longer than any Salomon shoe I ever had.
Got a pair as well. Surprisingly wide and fits my 2E foot well. I was also super surprised at how well it handled my technical terrain. Did about 3 runs over the weekend and not one slip
Would you say average nike fit in your regular size? I’ve been skeptical of getting this one, loved the first version but wasnt as durable as I hoped. And people mentioning that v2 is skinnier than v1 I’m not sure what to think- but every 10.5mens nike I’ve had all seem to fit well enough.
Great video cheers. Now some people have said that the shoe is quite narrow. For those of us with slightly wider feet and who have tried the zegama 2, In terms of the snug fit, is it more or less narrow than the Speedgoat 5? The latter is quite narrow but the material has some stretch to it which makes it bearable. How is the Zegama 2 in that regard?
I just picked up a pair a few weeks ago for the San Juan Solstice 50. I did some very tech trails in Breckenridge and up on the CDT in the San Juan Mountains. This shoe stuck to everything and has great grip. Still can't believe I bought Nikes but the Zegama Trail 2 has really impressed me. It has a great rocker shape as well.
Loyd how would you compare Zegama2 to Wildhorse8? To me those to have same weight and same drop in my opinion. I have same gray-purple Zegama2 as you, in my size uk11-eur46 they are 370g, Wildhorse8 is 380g, Zegama2 feels bulky and to me looks like it needs some breaking in, but I like new higher drop, Zegama 1 has allmost negative drop. Like my Zegama2 for now 👍 need more testing... O' and Vibram sticks to the ground like glue, incredible!
As a fan of Nike´s trail shoes I've had almost every model of both the Terra Kiger and the Wildhorse. And also the first version of the Zegama which I really didn't like at all. A terrible midsole way to firm and dead and an unusually narrow fit. So it can only get better.
Loved the 1st Zeggys, always said the only thing they lack is vibram and abit of stability. I've picked the 2s up but I've had surgery on a labral tear this weak and hip arthroscopy so won't be getting to try them for a few months.
First of all, great video and great review as always Second, i think you've said all the right things for me to consider these a serious option for my long cruisy runs Thank you
Nike shoes always look awesome. But that's about it. The question is whether "You'd rather look good and lose, than look bad and win" I'm all about the inov8 g270 V2 Loyd, looks like my old headmasters choice of PE shoe.... But there's no stopping me in them brother.
At UTS there was a Vibram stand offering re-soling, I see there are a couple of shops around that can now do this, the Vibram mega grip soles they had looked like the ones used on Hoka's, so maybe get those old Nikes re-soled. Save your money / save the earth :=)
Still not convinced about Nike trail shoes! You're awesome for all the work you're putting in with these shoes. Thumbs up! When will Saucony Xodus Ultra 3 be reviewed, seeing that it has been available to buy in Europe for some weeks? Cheers!
Great review. Think I'll pass. Nike trail shoes peaked with the Wildhorse 7 for me. The react foam with the rock plate were famtastic and a tough toe bumper for extra protection. I'd be interested how durable that upper would be.
Thanks, glad you enjoyed the video 👍 The Wildhorse 7 really didn’t work for me, the outsole was terrible in wet conditions, the toe box was shallow and the midsole felt unstable on more technical trails! It ran well on the road though 🤷♂️
@@Run4Adventureshoot you’re right. On the running warehouse preview from the running event last year! I’ve heard multiple people in the last two weeks say it has less. Obvs the people need dr. Lloyd to clear up the confusion 😉😉

I was waiting for someone to get on with these.., though the release sort of snuck up on me.
great video, good beats.
Crazy. Just ordered my 2nd pair of Ultraflies because they’re so freaking awesome.
I like the big tags 👟 (easy when changing at my car before/after runs)
As always, thanks for the vid!
Loyd! Surprised. What a wonderful faster shoe. Hideous colourways notwithstanding!
I’m surprised! Faster shoe? It just felt to heavy, to clunky and unstable to me 🤷♂️
Glad they made the tongue longer & gave it a pull strap! The 1st version failed drastically here!
Thanks a lot Loyd! Shame about the hot upper and missing toe bumper.
No worries, thanks for watching 🙏🙂
it looks like a pegasus trail upper on the zegama chassis......which I like the sound of 👍
looks a bit overbuilt

Im waiting for the next xodus ultra before I pick up anymore trail shoes...
You won’t be disappointed 😊
@@kylekraeft5558 I'm hoping the toe box is a bit wider as saucony have been getting a little tighter lately
I hope they're better than V2.
Funny like how Nike needs redemption when Saucony been nailing it 3 iterations straight with the Xodus line 😂
Ultra 3 🔥
First impressions coming soon 👍
Hmm why so heavy Nike?
I think because of much cushioned

Does this shoes has arch support ...i have flat feet and bunions...is it good shoe for my problem?
Great review, you've said enough for me to take a punt and make them my next trail shoe, thanks sir
Great video and review as always
How would you say the toe box room compares to a speedgoat ?

The designers at nike have obviously never booted a rock toes first 😖. Super video as usual R4A. ❤👍
Great review. I'm really considering these for a flat, non-technical 100km ultra in a few months. I'll wait for your full review to make my mind up! 😅
Wow, it surely looks like the Pegasus Trail 4's GTX.
First of all, great video and great review as always
Second, i think you've said all the right things for me to consider these a serious option for my long cruisy runs

Good afternoon. Excellent information, Loyd. Now, I don't have any trail running shoe. Like to Run4adventure. A nice weekend for everyone.
DO u think these are suitable for a 100m race?
Thanks, for fresh interesting vidéos, i follow you sinds years, i like your smile and positives vibes, thanks mate
Great video as usual ! Will you test the Tomir 2.0 ?
thoughts on primary use of these for mountain hiking?

My Xodus Ultra 3 review is coming soon! 👍
I’m massively put off by Nike trail shoes. The ultrafly’s are so poor and they were awful in the Chester 50 this year. I’ve gone back to Hoka.
I totally agree with you about the Ultraflys Steve, it was terrible trail shoe! 😕

Please do Zegama 2 VS Xodus Ultra 3. Or just tell me here 😅
I’ll see what I can do once I’ve run some more miles in both shoes 👍
@@Run4Adventure great stuff, thanks Loyd
It looks lovely where you are testing them. I am really not sure how they would get on in the Lake District?
I’m still not sure how they would handle more technical trails David, I’m hoping to test them out on some technical stuff soon 🤔
Loved that you could coordinate shoes with socks! 😂
You’ve got to be colour coordinated John 👍😁
I believe they said they decreased the stack on these
That’s what I initially thought but I did see a video with a Nike representative that said they had increased cushioning? 🤔
