BTS is great because that function more like a sports team than a boy group, everyone has a part and everyone is equally needed.

They had just gotten their first #1 in Korea with I Need U, and HYYH pt 1 charted in America (not very high, but still- proof that their fan base was growing). Dope was planned as an intro to many fans to showcase their tight choreography and catchy music and hopefully to entice a new crop of fans. because they were in the midst of the origins of the bang tan universe, this was sandwiched between two story videos that don’t show off their skills. Also, the camera and crew used in this video was so expensive, it was one of the reasons that big hit almost went bankrupt. This video is big for bighit because it was essentially Bang PD wagering on the boys and putting all his chips on the table, and thank god he went all in because this video turned out amazing and became one of the biggest viral videos of 2015. Side note, this video is how I discovered BTS (through a UA-camr reacting to it).
