i remember this when it came out i was in 7th grade this girl named andrea used to always try to get wit me but i was too shy to rap to her by tha time i got tha nerve to talk to her she was wit anotha dude i had a crush on her ever since.
@@Keepdapocket well...color me wrong. Thank you for clearing that up for me. I just looked it up on Wikipedia. I swear, when I was a teen and that song came out, the DJs used to say it was about Bootsie Collins because he had split from Parliament and used to wear a full body costume plugged into his bass that had something to do with the sound of his bass. I normally look up song stories before I quote them, but this is the first time I've ever had to talk about this one, and that's what I remembered. Thanks again. I will probably delete this comment after I think you've read my apology.
@@Keepdapocket on a side note, in the Widipedia notes it says Lynda Carter sang it on the Muppet Show. Whatever you do, DO NOT look that up. I just did. Now I have to poke an ice pic in my ears to get rid of that sound...hahahaha.
@@minkymott wasn’t trying to be “that dude”. I’m from Philly. That’s the only reason I know that information because the late, great Thomas Bell is from Philly. However, when they performed it, they would say it was Billy’s song because he was the shortest and he was chubby.
@@Keepdapocket don't worry, I don't think you're "that dude". I got to thinking, I think those DJs said it was about Bootsie because his band was called "Bootsie and His Rubber Band". Anyway, I'm glad you corrected me, so I wouldn't be "that dude who thinks he knows but doesn't". Hahaha. :)

The Spinners' "Rubber Band Man" was about Bootsy. He was also Parliament's bass player.
No it wasn’t. It was about the songwriter, Thomas Bell’s son, then later interpreted for Billy Henderson of the Spinners.
