"Eagle" (1977) It is the longest song of ABBA, almost six minutes It is the opening song of their fifth album, entitled "ABBA The Album" (1977), which coincides with the release and premiere of their film "ABBA The Movie" (1977), which records ABBA's memorable tour of Australia and throughout the ABBAmania "Eagle" was released as a single in a few countries, It's a shame it didn't get a chance to be the third single from "The Album" in the UK (following "The Name of the Game" and "Take a Chance with Me" which you'll hear already) "Eagle" Many associate it with progressive rock, and say that its sound is the closest thing to the style of Pink Floyd or other similar groups. others relate it as a tribute to the Eagles group others relate the lyrics to 'Juan Salvador Gaviota' which is absolutely clear that it is a song that you never get tired of listening to, its almost 6 minutes are absolutely rich, and the joint voices of Agnetha and Frida, armored together with the magic of the 'Third Voice', literally fly like eagles , just as the instrumental ending leaves us with that feeling of flying in the sky for many it is the best ABBA song in my opinion it is 9 points, absolutely brilliant... but there is more, and in this same album "Eagle" ABBA performed it in a television presentation in Germany 1978 (in a reduced version, together with another song from this album "Thank you for the music") and in the opening of their TV special in Japan 1978 and has a special filming in Stockholm for the movie "ABBA The Movie" (with Agnetha already pregnant, although it is hardly noticeable) and it is performed in their concerts of the 1979 Tour in North America and Europe ABBA made an official video for "Eagle", reduced to just over 3 minutes, without one of the choruses and the final instrumental part, for better dissemination in the media Thanks for doing the two options, the short in the official music video, and the longest in the official recorded to the album I wish to you a Greatest weekend see you in the next reaction to ABBA my best regards from Buenos Aires Argentina
Tremendous respect, Lil mann, for always listening to us 👏👏👏 Janne Schaffer's guitar part is just mind-blowing. You can easily imagine the eagle crossing the sky. The official ABBA channel is the best source for official videos, but there are exceptions. Those are precisely "Eagle" and "Gimme! Gimme! Gimme! (A Man After Midnight)," where the music video again lacks the instrumental part. Great job, keep on going 🙌
Not just a song, it's a journey ending like in a swamp that guitar sounds like distant birds flying around You. One of their best 70's track. As a kid listening at friend this album/song with headphones.
There's actually a few different edits officially of Eagle so you're 100% correct in your comments. Back then, many radio stations just wouldn't play tracks much over 3 minutes, so the single version was issued cut down differently depending on the country of release Additionally another mix was used in ABBA The Movie. The live version from the 1979 tour is absolutely mind blowing when the solo guitar takes over. It's totally different in each different concert venue so it's a total freedom for Lasse Wellander just to let rip
He didn't do anything wrong. He went to the official source-how could he know it was a shortened version? Someone might argue that we warned him about it, but he reacts to so many different artists that he can't remember everything. So we could listen to Eagle twice, which probably doesn't bother anyone.
Original longer versions are usually better. When things are edited, good stuff often gets chopped out. I understand that radio station listeners have short attention spans, but it’s not always the way to go.

the outro is great especially the guitar solo in that beautiful space they created
The full length version is best ;)

Nice to see more of you in the algorithms Lil Mann 😂
Thx, Oh yes indeed the end is richer. Look next time if there are several versions, like for the other Summer night city, for example.
