Porque cantando cielito lindo 🤣 He actually did speak Spanish. Not the most perfect Spanish, but Spanish nonetheless. That’s the only other tongue that I understood. Amen! A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign.

I sincerely sought in 'mystical' approach to a closer walk with GOD through 'tongues' as coached by other charismatics in my day 1982. I soon lost my assurance of Salvation and became vulnerable to the cults, namely the Oneness Pentecostal doctrine of Salvation through water baptism Acts 2:38. I would not have been vexed by such doctrines had I not previously sought a 'tongues' experience.
In other words, the modern 'charismatic' movement is dangerous because of its 'mystical' approach which is common in New Age religiosity of the past few generations.

The miracle wasn't that the apostles spoke in different languages...it was that all listening to the apostle heard them in the listener's own language.

Actually, what that is, is just a miracle. Two things happened on the day of Pentecost in Acts 2. What you described is like a bonus thing that was added, a miracle. The gift of speaking in tongues happens just before that. Read Acts 2. They all heard them speaking the wonderful works of God. That's the definition of the gift of speaking in tongues. Speaking the wonderful works of God. Its really deep when you think about it.

Speaking in tongues isn't too hard to figure out. It says what it is in Acts 2. They heard them speaking the wonderful works of God. That's it. That's the gift. There is a good book that goes into great detail on this and addresses all the possible concerns and questions one might have regarding this gift. It also gives the history. Check it out. It's called, "Spirit-Filled Language" by Aaron Florent.

The gifts of the Holy Spirit didn't cease with the apostles or disciples. That's easy to prove. There were other's who had received gifts and they didn't just stop once John died. In fact, church history records many miracles and gifts happening after.

The one lady in my church group used to play like she was talking in tongues. She had to be the center of attention and when she couldn’t she and her husband went to another church. Ain’t seen them since.

Quoting I Cor 14:22 + Mark 16:17, if tongues are (a sign) only for the apostolic period, what about casting out devils? I thnk something is not adding up here. I have seen Dr. Ruckman blasting tongues/miracles/healings etx (So called charismatics) in other videos. But this one, linking I Cor with Mark 16 doesn't fit the bill atleast for the Tongues. I believe casting out devils has no time period tied to it.

Why not complete Mark 16:17 with Mark 16:18 and drinking poison? Why stop at tongues and casting out devils? Personally I don't buy into the "deliverances" of the Charismatic.

We can pray for people to be healed but there are not Men who have the gift of healing people and we believe a person who is saved who is sealed with the Holy Spirit can’t be possessed, most people they need the gospel !

This is really interesting. Does anyone know why the Corinthian church were speaking in tongues? It's a Gentile church isn't it? Paul does talk about them using it as a spiritual gift? Why would he do this if tongues were just a sign for Israel?

    • @LastCall777
      @LastCall777  Місяць тому +4

If you read the text Paul blasts their use of tongues. But in antiquity Corinth had a large population of Jews. you can read about this in Acts 18.

@@LastCall777 Thank you. Corinthians 14 is the confusing one to me. I get that they shouldn't use tongues in the church without an interpretation, but Paul does seem to encourage tongues for private use. He says the spirit is speaking mysteries to God. Our minds don't know what we are praying but the Spirit does. Thanks for answering.

@@edcarson3113 Thank you. I've heard that said, but this is the verse i don't understand. 1 Cor 14 1-5.
1 Follow the way of love and eagerly desire gifts of the Spirit, especially prophecy.
2 For anyone who speaks in a tongue does not speak to people but to God. Indeed, no one understands them; they utter mysteries by the Spirit.
3 But the one who prophesies speaks to people for their strengthening, encouraging and comfort.
4 Anyone who speaks in a tongue edifies themselves, but the one who prophesies edifies the church.
5 I would like every one of you to speak in tongues, but I would rather have you prophesy. The one who prophesies is greater than the one who speaks in tongues, unless someone interprets, so that the church may be edified.
So it seems that verse 2 is saying that when we speak in a tongue that no one understands, God does understand. Its a mystery uttered to God. I think the verse is saying its good for me because God understands, but in a church environment it wouldn't do any good unless there was the interpretation. Thanks for replying.

Can only imagine military bootcamp today being extremely feminine with rainbows nail polish and flower fragrant scents. DI will ask you nicely to march right or left later in the afternoon when everyone gets awake & ready to do training shtuff. Then it's off to the base Cafe for a light vegan snack of finger sandwiches etc.
