Putting all this stuff on the fretboard and it sounding like music is reminding me why I spent that annoying time learning the diminished scale fingerings. Huge breakthrough, big thanks!!
Thanks for the question, Ian! I have a whole bunch to talk about in regards to improvising over changes…any particular changes or song you’re thinking about?
@@ChaseMaddox Im thinking about the song called sunny. I can improvise fluently and do some phrases using the pentatonic scale. But for me, it lacks more color compared to other musician such as this - ua-cam.com/video/GGNVk75zgOM/v-deo.html
@@ChaseMaddox Someone told me to learn and play triads, but when I do it, it's a bit unnatural for me, if you get what I mean. Do you have any tips about how to use triads properly?
@@ChaseMaddox triads sounds very cool, im on it right now. i could listen demos all day, in a wide range of musical styles, or moods, like phrigian, or harmonic minor.. But i have no Idea yet about how to approach it, to emulate delay-reverb "atmospheres" ...
Good question. They’re major triads coming from diminished based on the V chord. So you could think of it as coming from F# whole-half diminished scale.
You should see the diminished video link pop up during the video or you can find it in the Lessons playlist on our page, or searching “Everything You need to know about Diminished JazzMemes”
Hey bro .. thanks so much.. can this outside stuff work on a major vamp and if so what major triads would you play before going back to the original key
Great question! This can totally work over a major vamp. In this key those triads would work over a Bb Major vamp. Think of Gminor as the vi, or think of the triads as starting on the 3rd and b7 of the Major key. "Four On Six" is a perfect example of using this since it has the G- and BbMajor sound.
As always great functional concepts. Gotta get those cameras off auto-exposure though. The strobe effect is more Page Hamilton in Helmet mode than Barry Harris mode
@@ChaseMaddox don’t think so. BTW I was a blues player and committed jazz with my pinkie toe in a Duke Robillard workshop some time back. Your functional approach is greatly appreciated. Amazing how just one nugget a week really adds to my vocabulary. Keep up the good work.

Thanks! Glad you dug the lesson! 🤘
Good afternoon, Chase. Very good ideas especially for a Bopper like my self that would never hear those sounds. Thanks for the SHARE. Smile.

Thank you, Thierry! I appreciate the support 🙏
Excellent video, thanks for sharing 👍🎸 would love to see more triad pair content
You got it! So many cool ideas with triad pairs in major, melodic minor, and diminished that I can cover.
Killed it bro!
Thank you bruh!
Do you have any tips about improvising over chord changes? I've been stuck with the pentatonic scale for years!

Thanks for another useful concept. Looking forward to upcoming videos. ✌🏼
Thank you so much! Much more videos to come 🙏
so what mode this g minor is in?
hi, Great video¡¡
one question, the lines in triads are over the D7 chord?
Thanks :)
There are a bunch of ways you could use them. Could be for a Gm vamp to create tension or a D7.
@@ChaseMaddox thanks chase! Greetins from argentina 🎸👋
Greetings from Miami! 🤘
Do it more! Its good stuff
Thanks! What specifically would you like to see more of?

what are you actually doing theoretically ?are you switching to like triads from an melodic minor mode or???

@@ChaseMaddox thanks! I always try to take things from a RIFF to a method
Me too 👍 This was one of my first few lesson videos, didn’t realize I hadn’t explained where the triads were coming from.
Lovely. Need more of this outside stuff.. where is the Diminished video?
