I don’t think that’s correct because I’ve seen him playing it live on shows AFTER it had become a hit. The way I remember it was Time in a Bottle that was released after his death because I remember how ironic it was that he had no more time😢
Both correct as they were both hits after his death but Time was recorded on an album earlier but not released until after the plane crash as a single but Name was recorded just before the crash
@@denisemay6807 back in the day many bands would play new songs live before they recorded them to see what the reaction was to the song. If it was a flop they could skip over it, if it was a hit it made the next album.
I do not understand people who won't subscribe, my fine dude. I subscribe. It costs nothing and it shows my love. I totally love you, man. You always make me happy 🥰
On Thursday night, September 20, 1973 and just a day before the single for “I Got A Name” was released, Jim Croce and five other people were taking off in a chartered plane from Natchitoches, Louisiana after finishing a concert there an hour earlier. They were headed to Sherman,Texas for the next stop on the tour, a concert at Austin College. Tragically, the plane crashed into a tree on takeoff, killing all six people onboard- the pilot, two of Croce’s managers, a comedian, and one of Jim’s band members. The accident was later ruled to have been caused by pilot error, taking off downwind into severe darkness and fog. Jim was just 30 years old.
Great song! Jim Croce was a unique storyteller & ballad singer. He touches your soul. He had a lot of great hits in his short career. "Workin' At The Car Wash Blues," "I'll Have To Say I Love You In A Song", "Roller Derby Queen", "Rapid Roy", "Lover's Cross" etc.
Reaction videos to Jim Croce are all over UA-cam. I'm glad he continues to find an audience. Norman Gimbel wrote the lyrics and Charles Fox wrote the music, but the performance, the realization, is pure Jim Croce.
Hey Biz, I’m 64 yrs old and heard this song thousands of times and new the words, but as you explained it I thought I was at Church, thank you for reacting to this!
Beautiful song. His music and lyrics were simple but impactful. He was a story teller. Someone who is aware, guess today he would be called mindful. Thank you for reacting to it. Great analysis of the lyrics too.
Jim didn't write this song, but he certainly sang it with enough conviction to make everybody believe that he did. It's a very inspiring song. It was written by Charles Fox (music) and Norman Gimbel (lyrics).
YOU'VE DONE ALOTTAAAA CROCE BIZ!👍😊FOR ME IT'S STILLLL HARD TO BELIEVE THAT THIS YEAR WAS THE 50TH ANNIVERSARY OF HIS TRAGIC DEATH😮, HIM AND AND MAURY!☹I WOULD SAY DO THE TITLE TRACK OF THIS GREATEST HITS ALBUM ( PHOTOGRAPHS AND MEMORIES ) 😊
I have been listening to Jim Croce since I was a small child. He was my father's favorite artist. My brothers & I have passed our love of him to our children. I loved hearing your insights. It makes me hear it in a deeper way. Thank you!
What I appreciate about this channel is that your not reacting to songs that will get you views. You truly are on a quest to highlight hidden gems and I salute you for that my friend.
I’ve heard this song for 50 years and it keeps getting better. Jim Croce may have passed, but his music and message will live as long as there is humanity.
Thanks for reacting and for reacting to this great artist! I could listen to him all day. Roller Derby Queen and I Have to Say I Love You... for suggestions!
One of the best scenes in cinema history was in Django unchained while Jamie Foxx finally felt free riding with the bounty hunter out of town, and this song plays
This was 1 of my favorite songs from the early 70’s. Nice breakdown of the lyrics and the meaning. Another song from that time period that I loved is “It Don’t Matter To Me” by Bread.
This and "Operator" are my 2 favorite Jim Croce songs. It was the 1st single released after he died, and it seemed like a perfect song to fill that role. Since it's the Christmas season, if you do another Croce song before the end of December, I would do "It Doesn't Have to Be That Way", which has Christmas-themed lyrics.
I love your reactions because you hear, listen, feel, and try to understand, you really appreciate and enjoy the music even if it’s just simple, thanks.❤
Jim wrote the majority of his hit songs at his kitchen table during a two week period upon hearing his wife Ingrid was pregnant with their first child. He never lived long enough to see how big they would get.
Jim Croce could write a song that would make you laugh, another one that made you think, and aanother one that would make you cry. One of my all-time favorites.
Back in the days of American Bandstand, Dick Clark would ask some fresh-face teen to rate a new song and they'd say something like, "It's got a good beat and it's easy to dance to. I'll give it an 85." Thank you so much for your attention to these and all the great "shlyrics." I think you might like Tom Waits. Try "Jersey Girl" or "Step Right Up" or "Invitation to the Blues."
Funny how the songs beyond two or three all reactors do don't get played. Lover's Cross, One Less Set of Footsteps ( both reflected my dating philosophy), Rapid Roy ( That Stock Car Boy ) a great folk rocker, and Carwash Blues to name a few. At least a couple of them broke the Top Ten but not enough keep pushing for more than those two or three.🧓😎
I've got a Name was Jim's last studio album and this song was set to be released as a single the day after Jim died in the plane crash...RIP

I clearly remember this was the last song released after his death. I was a big fan.@@denisemay6807

Well said
Such a shame we lost him so young, his music was amazing ~ 💜
A true legend lost way too soon.

Love this song! Never get tired of it!

Your reaction to this Great Song is a joy.
I fell in love with this song when I was 16. 30 years later it still gives me chills
And it turned out that life indeed passed him by...
So sad...😔

Great analysis of the lyrics too.
We lost an absolute master when we lost Jim. A storyteller that really put humor and heart into every note he wrote
Great analogies you have on this song.
First 45 I ever got. yep, now you know Im an old granny 😂
Loved your reaction.

Jims songs were always..honest. They were short, but to the point. A great song always leaves you wanting more.
A great track. Makes my list of the 100 quintessential 70's.
Jim is all of it.
I have been listening to Jim Croce since I was a small child. He was my father's favorite artist. My brothers & I have passed our love of him to our children. I loved hearing your insights. It makes me hear it in a deeper way.
Thank you!
"Operator" is probably my favorite Jim Croce song.
Love your reaction! Spot on, my friend!
Even tho he didnt write it, this is my fave song by him, and i always considered it one of my personal anthems. The lyrics hit close to home
👍👍. Heard his son on a call-in to a radio station just recently. His son didn't get to know his dad directly, but he said Jim's parents were musical.
LOVE this classic! Love Jim Croce!❤

Thank you for reacting to this awesome song!
Croce!
Oh THANK YOU !! ❤️
Rest in Peace Mr. Jim Croce ❤
Hit Roller Derby Queen and Workin' At The Car Wash Blues...😎😎
Great take, man. I love this song and Jim Croce. His type of music isn't made anymore, so thank God he left us his.
I’ve heard this song for 50 years and it keeps getting better. Jim Croce may have passed, but his music and message will live as long as there is humanity.

This is one of my faves for sure. RIP Jim, we lost you way too soon
Great reaction! You get it!
Great song, great lyrics, great performance. Great translation and great review.

I love this song soooooo much , thank you!!
His son, AJ Croce, is currently touring and just like his father.
Is may favorite song
Boy this brings back memories of my youth , this has always stuck an emotional cord with me
Jim was a great storyteller

Great song. Thanks Biz
Really like your breakdown of his music.
This is the only man that can ease my soul... RIP Jim
Jesus Christ loves you ❤

Can you believe he isn’t in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame?
I grew up with his beautiful stories within a song. His music is real & inspirational. Love his sound & his lyrics are fantastic.
Love the reaction too
Thank You
This song's companion song is interstate love song from Stone Temple Pilots
Great song! Jim wasn’t the writer of this one though. Norman Gimbel wrote lyrics and Charles Fox composed the music.
😊

I like the fact you have the schlerics😢. Do you have a name? Or is that secret? 😊
Like the singing bird and the croaking toad, I'm sure he got a name.
😂😬😂😬
my name is Jery
Him and Tom Petty are the best American songwriters of all time imo
