When Directors Are Asked About the MCU
Respected film director Steven Pittsburg gets asked about Marvel movies at his press junket for an entirely different film. Because, Marvel movies dominate movie news even when the news is supposed to be about a different movie. It started with Martin Scorsese while promoting the Irishman, and has since included other famous film directors such as Francis Ford Coppola and Ridley Scott. Now it seems like everyone is looking for a scoop to relate back to the MCU.

Normally Davis is playing the villain while the others play the victim. Now it’s other way around.

Stan Lee once commented in an interview that while he believed Jackson might have been a good actor for the role, Tobey Maguire was a better fit.

@@jemiebridges3197 basically there was a reddit AMA that Woody Harrelson "participated" in to promote his movie called Rampart. Idea is that anyone could ask him a question and he would answer it. Funny enough, any time someone asked anything, "Woody" would somehow pivot the conversation towards Rampart. For example, if someone asked him - what do you value most or whatever? His answer would be "you know, like my character in Rampart...".
It was absolutely hilarious and mostly likely that it wasn't Woody himself, rather his publicist or whatever. That's where the joke comes from.
People leave out the fact that this AMA started with some insane person accusing him of raping a teenager and told said story using reaction gifs, and that ended up being the highest upvoted thing in the thread.
It is sad how accurate this is

In today's logic:
The movie/franchise should be either the best or the worst and it should only be determined by some numbers and no other way
And you're either a fan or a hater
And if someone from the movie industry criticize what you like you should not only send them hate, but also literally deny their talent and art even if they are good directors, writers, critics, etc.
So the fandom in cinema industry is basically a huge Anakin Skywalker who deals in absolutes and can't take any criticism!

Thank you for this video. Before watching it, I thought Scorcese did think Marvel was lesser than other movies. After watching this, I decided to check what he said, and not only did he not say anything bad, I think he pretty much praised the MCU as a new form of entertainment.
I now have learned to trust the media even less.

Me (a Marvel fan): Scorsese sir, I understand you now.
I remember us going over thus day zero, and prepped a super mild responce before there was an mcu. Last thing you want to do is get in a media battle with the actual medium you work with.
And they arent quite wrong. MCU is flat out entertainment, not art house. but its not harming hollywood. Those Art house dollars are still there. But when is the last time you saw something you compared to Citizen Kane? Maybe MCU wrecks the current hollywood formula which revolves around oscar bait and summer block busters and xmas movies.
A real kicker though is... im not sure I have ever finished a Scorsese movie. ( I get bored to tears. My little brother loves him.) So he was never my target audience.

Although there have definitely been some turd level comics though
People just want all films to be the so called "art films", and literally say no other type of film should exists. First, Marvel is supposed to be a visual spectacle, action and fictional. It wierd how people compare it with real life films. Even then, Marvel has successfully managed to represent and talk about real life incidents, issues and themes too. Also, these people just target, TARGET, only Marvel as if no other franchises exists like DC, Wizarding World, LoTR, GoT, Monsterverse, Star Wars or even the latest Dune (which people consider a great visual spectacle, but as a compliment). Also, Marvel has managed to give more emotions to even the regular, casual fans who don't want a film based on our harsh reality.
Also, if one argues Marvel films lack what Scorsese films has, they should also agree his films lacks what Marvel films has: enjoyablity, representation, and telling themes along with entertainment instead of "here is my theme, here is my lesson, school is over". A film doesn't has to have all of them, it should just deliver what it promises to the target audience. If you like them watch it, or else no issues.
At last, these people want to bash Marvel films, even though they don't even know any of them or how they are, just because they need to defend Scorsese. But he wasn't even attacked in the first place. What he said was wrong, I hope it was this time alone. He attacked MCU without even seeing it (as he himself mention) and it was the few toxic fans who made this illogical debate between two very different types of film styles, genres and feels.

I.e. if you have a superhero movie then people will compare it to Marvel, even if it's a dark deconstruction of the genre instead of the light hearted action comedy with a bit of drama mixed in that the MCU is known for.
It's the same as how a lot of people see any scifi cartoon and instantly claim is just a copy of Rick and Morty

I love how there is a shit ton of drama on the internet and all of my friends gets so angry at each other since this producer did this and I can't believe they are cancelling this for that. Then you have me who listens to 0 blogs, news things and makes my own decision about what I enjoy.
Because in the end, it's not what other people think or want. It's what you enjoy and wants as you do what you enjoy and nobody should shame you for doing that. Everybody likes different things and that is part of being human and that is okay.

I know a guy who rewrites the MCU. It is a little sucks when he claims that his first story is better than the upcoming movies. I mean, if Amit Barabi is going to claim that his rewrote is better than any MCU movie, then he should claim that about movies that already came out.

You know what I hate most. When these interviewers only ask about Marvel movies, they never ask about DC or any other comic book movie it’s only Marvel.
This is really accurate because of how many directors are just constantly dissing the MCU, when they are really amazing films. Most of these directors, from what I've seen, just seem to direct films of the same genre, which may not be a bad thing, but I feel that they make way too many of them, such as drama and crime films. I don't hate them at all, but them saying the MCU is overrated basically and are just pure comedy is just too much tbh. xd I might be wrong about some things, so if I am then I do apologise.
