Hello all! Today I wanted to try out creating a watercolor background using Tombow Markers. I've used similar techniques in the past with Distress Inks, but this time I used different colors of Tombow Markers. My inspiration was the Northern Lights.
I used two new Lawn Fawn products on this card: the Little Town border die and Winter Big Scripty Words stamp set. I love how easy it was to create a simple scene. I think I'll be creating background like this more in the future. It was super easy and quick! :)

Wow! you could not have got that impression of the northern lights any better!, Don't ya just love it when something goes soo right.
Hi Kristina ~ This card is stunning. My husband and I lived in Alaska for 3 years and you've captured the Northern Lights beautifully. It was almost eerie at times watching them delicately dance across the sky. The bright green is the most common color but the colors you've used are ones I've also seen. That's one of the things I miss most about AK; those gorgeous, spiritual Northern Lights. Very nicely done. ~HUGS~
I really love that you were describing each detail. I've watched all of your videos, and Jennifer's, Julie's, .... well - I'm your groupie. But in this video you were really talking to us, the beginners!!!
That sky was amazing! And the dark silhouette against it just really popped. Great job!
Beautiful! An a tangential note, I love your little closing tune. It brings me joy every time I hear it on your channel.
finally someone without copic
Ahaha
Analika Singh that’s actually so true😂
I love that sky too! TFS!
I watch your videos not for tutorials but to listen to your voice such a soothing voice !
The background is so beautiful, no wonder you didn't want to lose any of it! X
Your chosen watercolors turned out beautiful Kristina! TFS
I originally looked at this video for ideas on how to use Tombow markers but got caught up in the card making aspect of it. What a beautiful card ! Thanks for sharing.
This card is so pretty. I love the watercolor sky!
Beautiful colors....something so simple is so pretty and striking. thanks Kristina....
Precious combined of watercolors.THANKS
That sky is gorgeous! My girl cat is Noel, she was my Christmas present to myself in 2009.
I can't wait for this years holiday card series!!! I've been watching years past to get ready!!!
Cute! Also seeing this as a great technique for making astronomy themed cards too. That's the perfect backdrop colours for adding the milky way.
Kristina makes great outer-space backgrounds with all sorts of colors and stars galore. Kristina--You ROCK!
This is beautiful Kristina! I love your work and how easy you make it look. Thanks so much for sharing your amazing talent!
Simple but gorgeous!
It became a great card. Love the colours as well.
I love that technique and the result is beautiful!!!
Beautiful card, love your Northern Lights! TFS
I love the colors in this , thanks for sharing your skills.
What a great technique and lovely soft result!! Thank you!
BEAUTIFUL card
Love your card, how creative!
Thank for the tutorial it improved my art and changed my art style
AWESOME SKY!!! Love it! Thanks for sharing!
GREAT sky, Kristina!!! Love those colors, and I can see how the green just wouldn't work. I imagine it just would make mud, especially with the purple/magenta colors you used. Still beautiful, though! Glad you didn't sacrifice much of your background panel. Thanks so much for sharing this! :)
Thank you for sharing the wonderful color inspiration and a card using the Tombow pens. I'm still working on blending with distress inks, but bookmarked this video for when I'm ready to experiment with the brush pens.
Lovely card and inspired me to use my Tombows more often
This is really pretty. Will definitely try it out on my free day! Thanks
Pretty sky love the card
I've got to go try that. I just finished one of the Online Watercoloring classes, so I still have all my supplies out. Yippee! Beautiful background and the card is simply perfect! love your work.
Beautiful. The sky is amazing!! I wouldn't have cut it either!! Hugs.
Beautiful card I love the background!
Beautiful!!
Beautiful background sky!! 🎨🎄
I have four of those tombow brush pen pallets the galaxy pallet which I see you are using, the skin tone pallet, the pastel pallet, and the bright colors pallet
Simple but elegant ty so much for sharing
Beautiful background with your Tombows. I don't use mine as much any more since I got the Zig pens so thanks for the reminder! I know what you mean about Christmas cards - I actually make mine all year long, two per month. Thanks for the video!
In love with everything you do. Keep the amazing work coming!
Love the colors. Would be an easy one to mass produce. TFS.
Such a great technique, thank you!!!
I just started using Tombow dual brush pens and this is amazing inspo! ty ♥
Love! When does your official holiday series begin? It's one of my favorite holiday traditions!
Not for a month or so.

I thought you were so smart to look up the Northern Lights before starting your card! I think I might have tried a stray line of the green somewhere--but, truthfully, your card didn't need it! It is quite beautiful! Thank you for the inspirational card and video! (Peg)
Sooo beautiful!❤️
Beautiful!
Y card Kristina!! I don't think I could have cut that background either! It was so soft and just so pretty!! :)
Should've said pretty card! Lol!! 😝
габи

Looks more like a galaxy than northern lights.
Yes, pastel galaxy
That’s very pretty

Ysabelle- Chan ikr
So pretty :)
beautiful! !
Love the card. Wish OnLine Classes for the holidays would start earlier so more Christmas cards could be made (maybe even in July).
I love the card but I must say that living in Sweden where we have a lot of Northern lights this did not look like it at all, the green really is essential to the northern lights as that is the colour that moves. I know it was just a inspiration but would have loved to see the green xx
i was going to mention that too (hi fellow nordic person!) but then i figured maybe she dropped the northern lights idea somewhere along the way. oh well, either way, it's a beautiful card :3
+teapotlizard Hiiii nordic person 😀
Yes that is what I thought she did too and yes it is still a gorgeous card would just live to have seen it with the green 😊
Where does that green color come from in the Northern Lights. Is that the same as the auroraborealis? So beautiful.
+mawmawvee Yes it's the same thing different names 😊
2009Mrs Jones, Thanks for confirming that. I think there is a song about the Northern Lights, or some such thing. Somehow, I just don't think the Aurora borealis would have the same effect in a song. :)
thanks so much for ur tutorial it's absolutely amazing! love it xx
What a process
beautiful!
So many tools... Wow!
so good!!!
I would have added that neon green because it looks like a galaxy ..... but its beautiful and cool without it....stay awesome ;)
Beautiful
Simple but beautiful!
so beautiful!!💙💖💙💜🌌🌌🌌
I've got to start my Christmas cards soon too 🍭
Its so beautifull! Meow.. I love it!
I. Love. Tombow.❤😊❤🎉
Awesome.
beautiful Kristina!
Nice work
Gorgeous, especially as a Christmas card. But -- it looks like a magnificent sunset -- no green, not Northern Lights. ( From a former Fairbanks AK resident!) No less beautiful for that!
Really pretty, I'll have to try it, my watercolor markers tend to tear up my paper so this might be a better way to use them
I love the card you made! Do you sell them online? How do you publicize your cards?
This looks really nice :o
This is gorgeous! What shades did you use for the markers?
i was inspired by how u make the sky 💗💗
this is beautiful, Kristina! I have a question for ya. in card making, cards of many uncommon dimensions and shapes are made haha. where is the best place to find envelopes that fit and accommodate? or do most people just make their own? thanks so much!
I don't know about Kristina but I make my own envelopes for uncommon sized cards. I go to this site: thecraftyowl.co.uk/boxbuster. This not only will let you make larger envelopes but it has sizes so you can make boxes and thicker envelopes for thick cards. And I use the WE R Memory Keepers envelope punch board.
lovely
What do you use to clean off anti-static residue from dark paper?
Loved it
woe so creative 😍😍😍
I'm thinking, looking at this video, one could cut out some yellow cardstock and leave the black pieces of the doors on the houses and it would look like the house is lit inside. If you kept the pieces from the doorways, you could stick them back in the doorways so it wouldn't get so cold inside the houses from having the doors left open. : )
Of which brand of brush pens you use?
Where do you get this stuff I just want to make a cheap homage card
Oh my god , that technique looks amazing O_O my fingers are itching to try this.... would it work with water based markers you think?
Yes, I believe most water based markers would work with this. :)
you can do that it would work as tomboy pens are water based markers
Akreeti Chetia tombow*
Nastia those are water color markers
Wait but what are those drying tools called and where did u buy them? ( I’m new to the channel )
