Dang, thanks man. My SIM card started acting wack about 4 days ago. I “fixed” it on Monday.. or at least I thought I did.. now it’s Wednesday and about 4 hours ago it started doing the whole “SIM card failure” thing. I’ll still replace it this weekend because I’m afraid of it messing up again, but your method actually worked for me. Thanks dude.
Update: It did it again, I’m just gonna have to replace the SIM card I think

Unsure if this will be helpful to any other IPhone users but a long time ago i had this issue, ie couldn’t use my phone without the use of Wifi, no internet, calls etc. The phone was saying no sim or invalid sim & it turned-out when i took the phone to Apple that i just needed to update the software. So today, shortly after i woke-up my current Iphone did the same thing ie no sim etc, so just updated to IOS 17 & now my phone is working again like brand new. Maybe you just need to update the software on the phone. Good-luck!

SWITCH TO THE ESIM. I dropped my phone and got sim failure messages and my phone would not go off of SOS, even after trying this. Contacted Verizon and gave them the eSIM IMEI and they switched it over for me pretty easily. Do prepaid companies overseas utilize eSIM? I typically use the physical sim that comes with the packaging when traveling so that will be a hurdle but at least the initial problem is settled.

My daughter has an iphone 11. I used a paperclip and it does have to be done on top of a hard surface (like a table), push it in hard enough it will pop open. take out the case but leave the sim card on the case. Blow inside the phone a few times where the sim card goes into (like we used to do with SNES cartridges, then push the sim card and tray back inside your phone. Problem fixed.
