Just want to throw this out there, in case anyone watching casually thinks on first impression that any footage of Roy has been sped up or altered in any way....I know the man since 1991 and I have sat right in front of him in basement rooms and studios and venues and watched and listened to him play and hone his unmatchable style and technique. Every note, every single one, is genuine. Believe it.
I have been playing for more than 4 decades and have played with and seen many of the best technical players up close. Roy is the most technically advanced player in HISTORY.
To be honest, there is one thing that I found outstanding that nobody seems interested in due to Mr. Marchbank's incredible speed. I'm talking about the sound, and I really think that a lot of effort and experimentation has been put into studying it. Your sound, sir, is the thing I like the most. That, combined with your technique, is something unbeatable. I really hope that we can hear your music outside these interesting, original, free, but niche contexts, so that it can reach a broader audience. Wish you the best, Mr. Marchbank!
@@D92Torre Thank you Davide! And thanks again for not just understanding but having an ear. The drive to push the sound closer to what I hear in my head is a daily battle and constantly under review. It’s rare I sound the same twice because of this. Infact I spend more time on that aspect than any other. So thank you for your kind words. I’ve left two links below for your interest. One to the new Law of Three album and another to my own music.🙏🏻 Slainte! Roy lawof3.bandcamp.com/album/law-of-three roymarchbank.bandcamp.com/
It looks and sounds unreal but I know that it is real. Nothing but admiration for the dedication to the minutiae of the legato technique development, in order minimise the physical (and mental) barriers that human anatomy, physiology and guitar structure impose on us when making music. True evolution of the techniques. Very impressive.
You are your own category for sure ! Please make a full length HD lesson series on your style and technique ? Let me know if I can help make that happen . People need to be exposed to you on a large scale , a full length HD concert would be fantastic !
absolutely astounding stuff. would be interesting to see/hear this technique employed on an unplugged electric with close mic if only to be able to better comprehend what the left hand is accomplishing on a physical/acoustic level before the processing takes over. "micro movements" etc. it appears to be almost a "piano type" hammering technique with no pull offs and very careful right hand muting. all very fascinating.
Cheers :) I'll be going much deeper into the technique/gear and setup over the next few months. The main processing is actually very simple. Although the gear and effects have changed over the decades the arrangement is always the same. EQ-Clean Boost- Boss Limiter. Like acoustic, clean electric tones don't take any prisoners.

@@LawofThreewhy don't we shine a torch up your ass? And get the SS in to interrogate you? It's like Andy Edwards said, the level of scrutiny around you is insane. Fortunately not everyone in the 'guitar community' is a novice or a noob.

This is insane. How do we live in a world where Roy Marchbank is not super famous? Seriously, you need to do a normal instructional video of your playing. These stylised video clips are doing nothing to convince people that you are actually doing this stuff. Ive watched Andy's video defending you and your abilities but even I sometimes think "this can't be real". I know it is. Or is it? Just do a normal video and put these doubts to rest. Appreciate your comment. However, there are many many instructional videos on my technique here on this UA-cam channel. These are played slow and then at speed. What do you define as normal? Check those vids out and then get back to me. Hope this helps.
@@GrantTregellas you seen all his technique videos and the acoustic technique ones? He's also transcribed and slowed down the fastest sections of Shawn Lane tracks too to examine Shawn's techniques. What I find most inspiring is how he's using the speed across his compositions and different genres. Yeah he should be on Rick Beato.
@@LawofThree Yes I've seen those videos. What I mean by normal is: You just sitting with your guitar talking straight to the camera explaining in real time one of your "licks". No editing. Those videos you have are just you playing super slow and then at normal speed with no talking. So then people think it's been sped up or something. But realise that what you are doing is not just some UA-camr showing Hendrix licks. Unless you make the video as "real" as possible most people will just assume it just some fake video or some A.I thing.
