Our Lord had granted this man with all the best that a human can have - Timothy is incredibly handsome, talented, and, I think, generous. God bless you, Timothy. From Russia with love
Good point! I've watched many scenes from the 73 version, and even though it is almost straight from the book, I'd still rather have Timothy as my Rochester any day. : ) He delivers his part with such passion...I have to BELIEVE he is Rochester, and not just reciting lines. I watched parts of the 83 movie today and read part of the book...still my favorites of all time!!!
Wow...I really do think I have to say this adaption is better than 2006. Eep! I want to see their reunion scene so badly!!! Clarke actually has emotion in her facial expressions!!!
Thanks so much for posting this video...I am absolutely addicted to it! ; ) Honestly, I have to start each day by watching it, then I listen to the song the rest of the day. Tim is so beautiful, hot, perfect, etc...
How ironic...Mr. Rochester is famously described as being "ugly," or at the least, not handsome. However, the makers of this version of Jane Eyre chose one of the most beautiful men ever born to portray Rochester on screen...genius! I am ever grateful to the casting director of this film.
He wasn't ugly. He just didn't fit with the "accepted" or popular look of men at the time. He was more of what we'd call a rugged, manly man, rather than the blond haired, fashion-conscious fop of the time.
Wow! This is the most I've seen from 1983! Very glad I saw it! I like how Rochester looks after the fire. I don't think any other version really makes such a physical difference other than 1996.
Yeah, I know he's supposed to be ugly, but Timothy has forever "spoiled" him for me! ; ) Timothy IS Mr. Rochester. Even with the scars he is still beautiful. Now if you want to really see an ugly Mr. R., watch the William Hurt version...he is almost too ugly to look at! Hahaha...!
This song is wonderful and so is the video! It's all there: love, passion, emotions... But I have to agree with FelicityKing: there is a little lack of tragedy. Nevertheless, 5 stars!
This is my favourite of the Bronte novels, and I love this song by Hooberstank; so for me it is an inspired combination that I love. I hope you do more. :O)
Ok another great video ! This is a very good song for this story and you synched it while with a nice choice of clips. I esp. liked the end one and the ones of R when it sings "I'm not a perfect person" or "i'm sorry I didn't mean to hurt you with Jane's pics.
By watching the JE73 DVD and not just some blurry clips on YT one realises what an fine performance the cast makes of Robin Chapman's script, which is full of Charlotte Brontë's humour. Sure, Sorcha Cusack could have been shorter, but her face is very special and she looks unsophisticated, and Michael Jayston might have had a darker hair and ditto eyes, but the way he uses those eyes and his voice shows a very skilled actor. The chemistry, empathy and tenderness between the two is excellent.
la meilleure adaptation avec les bons acteurs J'adore

Not only is he totally beautiful, but he's a great actor, too. Perfect combo.
I loved this movie! Dalton was perfect.
Dalton = Best Rochester by far!
Thanks!

I like that when the song goes to "I found a reason to show a side of me you didn't know"
it shows Rochester's scarred face. good job. :)
