      that is true, but crocodylomorphs show a unique ability to survive with minimal adaptation.

    Largest? Was it larger than the short faced bear, andrewsarchus, and purrusaurus?

      @Sedimented.Studios  Рік тому +26

      it was almost twice as large as the shortfaced bear and andrewsarchus, and purrusaurus was larger but it was aquatic, a more accurate title wouldve been "largest terrestrial predator", given the megalodon also lived in the cenozoic

      @@Sedimented.Studios longer? Yes, bigger? No, Barinasuchus and Arctotherium are around the same size both weighing at around 1500kg-1700kg. Upper specimen of Arctotherium weigh in at 2 tons. So your statement isn't true.

      @@dom9300 if you're refering to Soibelzon et al. (2010? 2011?), their calculation was based solely on the humeri of ONE specimen, and they explicitly mention that it is a particularly big one. As far as I'm aware, the paper not only states that the calculation of 2 tons is not likely, it also calculates the weight of 1600-1700kg for this one indivdual and not as a species average.

      @@saaya8964Yeah if they use a Particularly big specimen of the Bear the should do the same with the sebecid, it’s only fair. And crocodilians usually outgrow their average sizes more than bears do

    It didn’t rule the mammals per say… most of the mammals were much bigger than it in humans it’s time and didn’t really dominate the mammals.

    But also shame on you nerds, let this man's crocodilian be a king, we all have our favorite prehistoric organisms.
