    Finding out that the hot tubs are only in adult, spa, and concierge areas makes me MORE willing to book a cruise on the WISH! I agree about the sun deck though, it seems almost unsafe to not have some kind of shaded areas.

      Haha, I am of the same mind! We leave adult sections to eat at Main Dining, watch funnel vision, and to watch the diaper dash. That’s about it!

      When I was on one of Royal Caribbean ships the adult only area had kids piling in the hot tubs with their parents nobody stopped them. What’s stopping this from happening on the Wish. The only sensible thing was on the Princess line where they charged to use the

      Like I said the Princess Line charged to use the adult section you had to pay for use for half day or a whole day if other cruises did this you probably would keep kids out they don’t belong in THE ADULTS ONLY SECTION

    Another thing that we found particularly odd is the layout of the ship. For example The Bayou lounge is literally two steps away from Hyperspace lounge which is also two steps away from a high end jewelry store. It all felt very disjointed and took one out of the immersion. Similar to an airport where the Outback Steakhouse is very themed, but is next to a news stand, then next to a Johnny Rockets. While everything is great on their own, but together they look odd. Another example is that the hallway leading to Palo/Enchante is also connected to the indoor sports arena where we literally saw people in formal attire walking through to get to their meal. Very different from walking to Meridian and going to Palo/Remy on the other ships.
    Also the lack of shaded seating anywhere on the top deck took away any ability to have a long term sitting session to read or drink. Your only luck is to find shade based on the orientation of the ship to the sun and hope half of the deck is in shade, but even then half of Quiet Cove is next to the Aqua Mouse and let me tell you from experience, listening to Goofy say "Gawsh! You made it!" over and over as people exit the ride gets old real fast.
    Overall, while on paper this is the biggest ship in the fleet, it feels smaller than the Magic/Wonder simply due to how poorly laid out it is.

    • @disneeds
      @disneeds  2 роки тому +2

      Thank you for sharing your experiences! It does seem like they took all the cohesive elements and tossed them over the deck. One of the things for us and I think for many people is one of the favorite parts of the adult area was that it was quiet and you could get away from the noise. The fact that you can hear and see a lot of tiny humans and noise at the adult areas is a deterrent for sure. I really hope they consider some of these details with their next ships. I love how they’ve gone big, but like you said, needs some readjusting for sure!

    Guests were always moaning about how busy the midship lifts always were so Disney made the executive decision to remove them (/s). A ship this size should have at least three sets of lifts. I've been on the Norwegian Epic with only two sets of lifts and it was extremely inconvenient. I almost always use the stairs unless I'm with older parents or young children.
    The elimination of the fully wraparound Promenade Deck is an absolute disgrace. It was a beloved feature of the RunDisney community. Because of the stairs, walking around the Promenade Deck will now be difficult for those travelling with elderly parents and grandparents and small children in a buggy. It's also inconvenient for runners and it's no longer fully sheltered. And disappointed to hear that the Jack Jack Diaper Dash will no longer be held in the atrium.
    The Wish is an exercise in cost-cutting and greed, eliminating non-revenue spaces. I can't stress enough what a horrible ship layout this is. I really enjoyed the family atmosphere around the other ships in the DCL fleet and how the adult spaces were kept away from children. No longer on the Wish the way the adult spaces are now public, scattered about the ship. This is like any other cruise line now. These features were what set DCL apart and paid a premium for this experience. The Wish is a massive failure.

    the reason they don’t have elevators in the middle is that they did a study on there other ships and realized no one really used them so they moved the front and aft elevators closer but took away the middle

    - There are 8 elevators at both banks so 16 elevators in total. There are more centered than the ones on the Dream class and still accessible from the grand hall near the entrance of 1923. Dream/Fantasy have 14 elevators so the wish has 2 more for the same number of passengers. I think its fine for this point.
    -No Night Club: Yes but I think they can transform the Hero Zone as one during the night thats what they do on MSC that has the exact same covered spork area.
    -There is a bar in the Cove Area thats called Cove Bar just in front of the infinity pool.
    -There is a lot of other lounges you don't talk about. Some without a Heavy Disney Theme like Keg and Compass, Wishing Star Café, Nightingale's...

    • @disneeds
      @disneeds  2 роки тому

      Thank you for the elevator note. That helps but it’s still nice to have the crowds divided by 3 elevator banks instead of 2. Other bars and lounges are in other videos.. This is just about the worst things.

    Great video, great points. That promenade deck... or the nonexistence of it, is a real killer. We love the deck 4 track on the other ships and will miss it on the Wish. Speaking of walking tracks - that wrap around front walking deck that goes to the very front of the ship and oddly looks down into the outdoor oasis area (6:48 in your video) and hottub is just...bizzare. I don't know whats more creepy, walking around it and looking down into where people are trying to privately relax, or being in the oasis loungers and looking up at people just walking around them. Very zoo like, and just weird. Lots of weird choices went into the Wish it seems.

    There are 8 elevators at both banks. And of them are closer to the middle 3rd of the ship than far Aft or Forward. Whenever I’ve been on a Disney Ship the night clubs/bars were not really filled, but then again the Maiden voyage didn’t have everything open and offered, like the concierge lounge and not all activities were offered. The Fantasy and Dream both started out as 3 and 4 night cruises, they actually bring in more money than a 7 night, all Cruise lines do this. I’m kind of glad there aren’t hot tubs in the family area, often times kids pig pile in them and there is never room or time for adults. Kids shouldn’t be in hot tubs for long periods of time, and plus this leaves the Parents to actually parent their kid. I think it was a great idea.

    As much as this ship was supposed to be centered around the "family experience" more than the others, it feels almost forced. I'm going to check out the Wish with my Dad in January, and we're both adults, but it feels like the lack of party size and lower presence of adult activities may make it very easy to run out of things to do. I just hope there's enough to see that won't make me bored by the first voyage. I was also hoping for more adult activities, bigger adult pool, or bigger jogging track but it feels like they only want me to drink the boredom away at their 5 bars....not to mention the dinner shows really are a one-time experience, and the whole thing I loved about the o0ther ships was tat you could choose to skip the show if you felt like it. Fantasy will remain my number 1 for now! Same size and cheaper too.

    • @oppressed
      @oppressed 2 роки тому +1

      My SO and I don't have any children and we have been on many Disney cruises in the past because of how much they also cater to adults, but it was clear from our recent sailing on the Wish that Disney's focus has shifted more towards families with children. All of the bars are smaller than the others in the fleet and their hours are cut back as well. Quiet Cove is clearly an afterthought compared to the Dream/Fantasy. And while Luna visually is beautiful it is a lot more cramped than say The Tube or D-Lounge on the other ships so those adult only shows will be very crowded.

    • @disneeds
      @disneeds  2 роки тому

      We will be traveling as adults only as well and I do feel it will likely be the one trip on the Wish with my fiancée. Like you said though, that’s does help with pricing on the other 4 ships!

    • @disneeds
      @disneeds  2 роки тому

      It really seems that the one place for adults is the outdoor oasis. The Bayou is beautiful but I was surprised to find it at deck 3 midship. I like the bars tucked away from the main areas. That makes sense, because I was also surprised at the cove cafe design. Just quite plain.

  • @kikky811
    @kikky811 2 роки тому +1

    These are exactly the reasons why we want to switch to the Fantasy, we don’t want to have 2 out of the 3 themed dinner show, especially since one is Frozen and the other is Marvel. While we like both, my teen and husband don’t want to sing Let it Go at dinner, have Princess Ana, Elsa etc come to the table…and our baby won’t care. Quiet Cove looks lacking, the scattered pools are confusing, no “regular” bars or lounges without over the top Disney theming… we love Disney and always thought it was great for all ages. I don’t think the Wish is… Problem is DCL is not allowing us to switch to another ship as we are within 50 days of sailing and the rates we are interested in on the Fantasy are guaranteed rates… so for new bookings only.

    • @disneeds
      @disneeds  2 роки тому +1

      It’s so beautiful but I do feel the specific theming will send people to their other ships at times. I’m really interested in who they will spotlight on the next 2, and if layouts etc will be the same. Hopefully the demand for the 1st four will keep those ships going as well. I hope you find a booking that works for you.

      Not sure if you went already, but we were on the Wish in August. If you’re not close to the stage during he Frozen show you can pretty much ignore it, and why not request 2 nights at 1923? We had a blast w/ a mixture of ages. Keg & Compass was our fave bar, and the Wish is so beautiful, just go with a positive attitude & you will have a great experience! :)

    • @kikky811
      @kikky811 2 роки тому

      @@jesskrems3946 Yes, we went already (August as well) and overall loved it. Not our fav Disney ship but we have a great time, it’s truly beautiful and there many things that we absolutely loved. We tried to get 1923 twice which as I suspected before we left was our fav - but they were not able to accommodate. I emailed ahead of time, got a reply they will pass it along. Got Marvel twice. Tried to change once we boarded but was told it’s not possible, but that we had a table away from the Frozen stage. Which was true, but my husband still got a migraine after our dinner there. The people next to us were signing at the top of their lungs too so it was impossible to ignore things anyway.
      The restaurant was beautiful though and it ended up being where we had debarkation breakfast which was great.
      In summary we had an amazing time, all of what I mentioned above was a non-issue other than the loud restaurants. Thanks for the reply!

      I just got back from the Maiden Voyage and here are some thoughts on Hyperspace Lounge. First if you want to secure a spot early on then as soon as you get on the ship you have to wait in line for Luna where they take all Hyperspace lounge, as well as, Enchante and Palo reservations that are left over from pre-boarding. This is a long wait so prepare yourself. You are able to walk in at the start of the cruise just to view the room but I have to say it is VERY small and not as themed as say Olga's Cantina at Galaxy's Edge.

    I've been on the Dream and am going on the Wish in 2 weeks. I can see why they took out the night clubs because no one was using all three on the Dream. Most of the parents I believe rather spend time with their kids at night than partying at a night club plus not all have a caretaker. I do think they should have a mid day family dance party/night club. I also see a lot of unutilized areas for example in the Fan Zone there 1 Air Hockey table and 1 Fosse Ball table for 4,000 cruisers. Makes no sense to me they need to add more arcade and family games. They definitely need more hot tubes and one more kids slide or water play area. Maybe need something for Tweens like a suspended zip line course can be themed to Tarzan. They need to add more adult entertainment like a Tron Laser show, or Tron nightclub with the character Castor. Maybe an Avatar Lounge. I also think in the Marvel Oceaner club they need more props its just a plain empty room. Finally on Edge there not much in there besides iPads and board games. Need to be more fun like a cyber bowl, gamer chair, Tron Light cycle arcade game, or Cars arcade game with an actual car.

      You have a lot of great ideas! I don’t know why I never thought of Avatar. I can totally see that on the next ship, as well as many you have mentioned. I think a mid day dance party is excellent also! With only 1 table I don’t think I would even try, would just assume it’s probably busy.
