I've watched several videos on this family. I can see that This "Mom", has shown favoritism toward the son and the daughter picked up on this YEARS AGO. The daughter has been dealing with this rejection from her "Mom" and the brother, because he picked up on the "Mom's Rejection of his sister. The daughter was acting out to get her "Mom's" attention any way she could, because she wanted the same love and affection, her brother was getting. The "Mom" just continued her Rejection of her daughter and used her, acting out, to justify her Rejection of the daughter and to make herself feel blameless. All this woman had to do, was Hug her daughter and give her the love and attention, she was craving. However, instead she raised the level of Rejection.
Why didn't the "Mom" rent out the son's room, instead of the daughter's room? Because it was another way to Reject the daughter.

Is it possible the mom didn’t start out favoring the son and the boy was easy to raise while the girl was a royal pain every step of the way? We’ve run into obnoxious children in the family of otherwise well behaved kids. Not likable at all. Their purest form of joy is aggravating EVERYONE else. Even the grandparents who did everything possible for the grands said this kid wasn’t likable. That was a huge admission from them and surprising. Boy was spoiled, girl was obnoxious and mom had NO CONTROL Even if mom was a failure it no excuse for girl or boy to rule everything.

The reason why she's going to the ranch is because even though the mom's "parenting skills" caused her to be the way she is, she needs to be re-taught how to behave with her family and in society. It's probably the best place she could be, away from the family and with people that will actually help her.

I was placed in a program just like this. It gave me the clarity to see that regardless of what abuse befell me, endangering and hurting myself will not get back at those who cause me my pain.
Dr Phil I wholeheartedly agree with giving children a chance to just be themselves and learn about healthy relationships, boundaries, responsibility & communication through adventure based learning.
No one is refuting what this young girl has gone through. Even I can see that her mother unjustly placed all the family burdens on her as if she, at 16, knew how to fix them.
When you have healthy coping mechanisms, this wisdom can show you how to react true and healing can begin.

"Working" ranch means digging ditches in rock hard desert dirt, hiking in 100° Temps, for hours on end, If not days. And you better watch your 1 canteen of water. It skirts the laws of what is legal in Utah, which has the most lax laws of what adults can do to children in all 50 states. You then must adhere and except their religious beliefs or you do not graduate the program meaning you do not leave. This place is down out right abuse.
