Well, I just have to say, that I really like how you balanced the volume between amp and speech. So many videos, just don't and I find myself adjusting volume all the time. Well done, production wise. Thanks for video, too - I've been thinking about one of these lately.
I've had the combo version for the last 2-3 years. Killer little amp, great pedal platform, for very little money. Stock speaker in the combo is a bit anaemic, but that was an easy swap. You're right, the loop is between the Tubescreamer and the amp... I don't think I've ever turned the boost off on mine! Wish it came with the footswitch though.
Martin Cliffe you can make a foot switch pretty easily or buy ones from people on reverb.com. (Analog Endeavors is a brand I would recommend highly from Reverb.)
@@carolinehaf21 I sold mine a few months ago, but I think I mostly had a G12H30 in it. For a while when I was carrying it around a lot I had a Neo Creamback in there. Both sounded great, but I wonder what it’d sound like with an A-Type (or even an Eminence Wheelhouse)
Hi Martin. I've just bought one of these amp heads and I'm unsure how the effect loop works and where the Ts808 sits? I have a pedalboard with distortion modulation reverb etc and I'm thinking if i run it through the front of the amp that the inbuilt Ts808 will be sitting at the end of my pedal chain? I'm not sure. So should i run my entire board through the effects loop instead? And plug only my guitar through the front of the amp? I dont know why ibanez has designed it this way 🤷 I appreciate any advice. Thanks
@@tepouogle969 Hey, thanks for asking. Yes, it's a weird one - the FX loop sits after the Tubescreamer circuit, but before the amp preamp. So you could basically treat the Tubescreamer like a pedal, and place anything you want before the Tubescreamer (fuzz, wah, etc) before the input, then everything you want after the Tubescreamer in the FX loop, using 4 cable method. To be honest, I used the Tubescreamer circuit with very low gain most of the time, so I put everything before it, but either works. I no longer have the amp, but only because I could only afford to ship 6 when I moved to Europe!
I picked a TSA15H used recently for great price. It is definitely made for pedals. I had never heard of it when I tried it, but I really liked the cleans, and bought it on the spot. I researched it later, and oddly (or perhaps not) it seems to get more love from jazz guys (for its pristine cleans) than from your average TS fan. Enjoyed the video! Thanks for posting it!
Surprisingly cool. Been thinking about adding a cheap always-on clean amp to run parallel to a dirty amp, but was mostly considering solid state. Although maybe this (wet) paired with an old solid state (dry) could make a good setup.
I saw one local for the cost of a pedal so what the hell. Did not expect much but wanted to experiment with running in stereo with a Marshall class 5. Worked really well as the Class 5 "with a att" has a brown, break up sag and the Ibanez I keep clean but also is smooth. Together in stereo I use that setup that runs to at least 30 pedals via a loop. Great bang for the buck.
Looking into getting myself a second hand one that includes the Ibanez cab the matches it (1x12" - can't remember the model) as well as the footswitch for about 320 USD.
Thanks for doing this! I got the combo half price years ago due to mark on the tolex and haven't been able to really use it much at due to illness. Buying a couple different electrics now (Gretsch semi hollow with p90s and epiphone LP) and kinda regretted the amp choice since they're not around anymore I figured they were duds and there's so many choices with modelling amps now but nice to see a good demo of it and what it does well. I got the footswitch with it too.
Is it a TS9 or 808 circuit on the amp? (I only ask because I have screamer on my board for my other amp and I'm wondering if I'd have both versions for versatility if I got this amp, although I do like how the clean channel sounds anyway).
I am debating between this and a Fender Bassbreaker 15 as a pedal platform. I mainly play shoegaze and post-rock. Can anyone comment on how this amp should do for those styles?
Hey Ryan! Thanks for a great review, i was just thinking of buying the half-stack with tsa15h head, wondering if it has enough headroom for a practice? Thanks a lot!
according to the manual : www.hoshinogakki.co.jp/pdf/ibanez/manual/fr/amp/TSA15H.pdf the send/return loop is just after the TS, not the preamp (sadly)! cheers
How does the 30 handle stacking drives? I use multiple overdrive combos for certain sounds (one being two OD’s with the second one being a volume booster for solos) and was wondering if it can handle multiple drives without becoming super gainy
Jonathon Warnberg ive been running mine through a 4x12 since I got it and the thing can really crank. There's no doubt that it would be loud enough but if you use it with a band you might want to get some pedals because it is quite lacking in the effects department
I see! It's the original offset guitar forum from the mid 00s. You might like it there! Just noticed the Kauer Titan on your wall, so I thought of asking. Great taste in gear, dude.
Im not really digging the sound of it here. Can you think of another amp you might say its similar to? Just trying to get a better idea of the way it might sound in person.
LMAO, I’ve played guitar since age 2, when I was like 9 years-old I had this soccer shirt that said “Shut up and play” and my dad who’s played guitar since he was like 9 years-old & put himself through Engineering School playing guitar thought that was the funniest fucking thing relating it to guitar
We play one in a rock trio and it sound great and is heaps loud enough, paired with my GT100. Paired it with line6 DT 112 cab. Search UA-cam 'ROUSTABOUT OZ BRING ME BACK' for it's tones as all guitars were recorded with this amp. I love it and am very happy as I paid $250au second hand and it screams.
This is a cheap amp that has problems . Ibanez won't give out any info about the circuitry or the schematic . It's a cathode amp which means it doesn't require you to bias the tubes that's why it's not loud and it so muddy . I get to try out all the new equipment and gear from guitars , amps and stomp
Maybe you could go to the ATM, get some cash, and buy a shirt that doesn't make my eyes bleed. Or, if you really like it, buy some more and you do you. Great demo.
A "realization" is defined as _the act of becoming fully aware of something as a fact_. An epiphany is defined as _a moment of sudden revelation or insight_. In both cases that requires that the person experiencing that has the cerebral capacity to do so, which in your case this is obviously NOT true. Btw a 10' video for something that needs about 3 minutes to do. No surprise since you talk and talk and talk instead of playing. Yet another thumbs down ...moving on!

What did you swap the speaker to? I have the combo also.

This + a Proco rat = perfect 80s hard rock/heavy metal tone
Just got one of these - sounds TONS better than in this video.
Sounds really good to me and through my computer speakers too. Nice!
It's got a really flat and even sound, kind of reminds me of my peavey classic 50

Hey Brian! I'm on a brink of buying one, is it loud enough to practice with a band without being mic'ed up? Thanks!

These are great amps! Nice shirt too!
Top job! Actually, Ibanez sounds and is in its philosophy* "more Fender than Fender itself"!!!
*clarity, roundness, headroom.
I got one and a hartke 4x12 for $300 in total. Its loud af and can keep a clean tone until the basement is shaking

Nice pick up!
Hey! Still like it after 5 years? I had mine for about 8 10 years now and I still enjoy is as much as the day I got it.
I have the combo of this amp and it’s so fun to play. I’m letting my 8 year old learn guitar on it currently when he is over on weekends.
Good review. Would have been cool to hear the low watt mode also : )
Looking into getting myself a second hand one that includes the Ibanez cab the matches it (1x12" - can't remember the model) as well as the footswitch for about 320 USD.
Almost bought one of these at a really good used price, once. I wish I had. It's a nice little amp.
Damn man when you hit that boost!? Nice! Keep up the good work!
Still waiting for the video with it using pedals. High gain, reverb, maybe delay. Thanks.
Thanks for doing this! I got the combo half price years ago due to mark on the tolex and haven't been able to really use it much at due to illness. Is it just me who thinks that the guitar is a little off tune?
Sounds like it's not intonated properly or something.
While you had the overdrive all the way up, why didn't you put the boost? 06:59 you never play good.
Awesome video and playing 👌. Question do you live near Chattanooga TN ? I think I see a guitar made locally on your wall .
Is it a TS9 or 808 circuit on the amp?
(I only ask because I have screamer on my board for my other amp and I'm wondering if I'd have both versions for versatility if I got this amp, although I do like how the clean channel sounds anyway).
Is that a ribbon mic?
I am debating between this and a Fender Bassbreaker 15 as a pedal platform. I mainly play shoegaze and post-rock. Can anyone comment on how this amp should do for those styles?
Ibanez will suit you more. Or a Vox, or Fender except for the bassbreaker.
that is the coolest guitar i ever saw
Michael Seymour airline 59 2PT, I love this thing.
cheers...i am in australia - how much would i expect to pay?
aha !!!just saw the price ....very cool , thnx
I wish I'd bought this used, in good condition, *very* reasonable price when I had the chance.
Same here man.
I wish you still had that guitar
Best amp next to og 5150

I got the TSA30H and think it is better still than the 15. These are still good, but I would say the 30 is better one. It costs more, but do it.
James Graham how is it better?
60 Cycle Hum The Thirty has Gain also. just gets wilder, more clean headroom. just more is better.
How does the 30 handle stacking drives? I use multiple overdrive combos for certain sounds (one being two OD’s with the second one being a volume booster for solos) and was wondering if it can handle multiple drives without becoming super gainy
Hi, nice tone. What guitar are you pĺaying here?
New tubes might make it a meal
Would this be be a signifcant upgrade from an orange micro terror, or should I go with something bigger? (I generally play thrash)
Jonathon Warnberg ive been running mine through a 4x12 since I got it and the thing can really crank. There's no doubt that it would be loud enough but if you use it with a band you might want to get some pedals because it is quite lacking in the effects department
I always loved the guitars you had on your wall. Are you a member on OSG by chance?
Francis Maria Regalado offset guitar Facebook group? I think someone added me but I never check in on it.
I see! It's the original offset guitar forum from the mid 00s. You might like it there! Just noticed the Kauer Titan on your wall, so I thought of asking. Great taste in gear, dude.
Francis Maria Regalado ah gotcha, yeah the titan is rad. I was just at dougs place last week for kauerfest, everything he makes is awesome.
Im not really digging the sound of it here. Can you think of another amp you might say its similar to? Just trying to get a better idea of the way it might sound in person.
I mean without the tube screamer engaged.
"That sounds HHHHHHot!" lol
is tube amp better?
this is a tube amp
This is a great video.. but you talk way too much! Just shut up and let us hear the amp!
Just kidding, you're awesome! Keep up the awesome reviews!
Josh Bailey 😂
Exactly! I find words are one of the better methods of interpersonal communication. Haha

What Speaker????? Oh no matter, I use Greenbacks exclusively....lol

Sounds like a dull butter knife cutting through leather.
He said he used it to play live . It doesn't sound like he knows how to play at all 🤔
I wonder how this baby would sound plugged into a (slaved) Fender Rumble.

TURN THAT BASS DOWN!!!!!!!
you need to work on your guitar skills. seriously.
Start with some playing, THEN talk for a while
