"Built for the street or track,” is how this mildly modified 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle is described by the seller. Wearing SS trim, it’s said to have a ZZ4 crate engine under the hood that’s boosted by a 100-shot of nitrous oxide. The seller also notes it has a performance-built four-speed automatic transmission, upgraded suspension, Baer disc brakes, Dakota Digital gauges inside, and more. The seller calls it his “dream car.”
    POWERTRAIN
Under the hood, according to the seller, is a 350-cu.in. ZZ4 OHV V8 crate engine with approximately 15,000 miles on it. It breathes through a Holley four-barrel carburetor, mounted on an aluminum intake manifold, and the seller notes a nitrous oxide system boosts horsepower even more. There’s also an aluminum radiator with a pair of electric fans, headers, and dual exhaust system. The engine reportedly starts easily, with no noted smoke and no leaks. It’s matched with a performance-built four-speed automatic transmission with a TCI performance torque converter. It is said to shift well. The engine’s air cleaner shows flaking off the chrome finish.
    EXTERIOR
This Chevelle’s Cranberry Red paintwork is a color change from the 57-code Golden Brown on the cowl tag. It appears good in the photos, but the seller notes the finish “has issues,” notably failing clearcoat on the roof and body sides. There are also some noted paint chips, mostly in the front, and some rust bubbles are present below the rear window molding. The glass and seals are said to be of “good quality,” with no reported cracks in the windshield and no known leaks from the seals. All the exterior lights reportedly work normally.
    INTERIOR
Inside, the mostly black cabin is contrasted with a pair of red cloth Corbin racing front seats. The seats appear in good condition, but their backsides have been faded by the sun. The seller says the carpet is in fair shape, while the headliner is said to be good. The door panels and dash pad also appear in good condition, although some of the door trim appears bent. The interior also features a black cloth rear seat and an aftermarket steering wheel, shifter, and Dakota Digital gauges. The chrome on the steering wheel is said to be flaking and also has some pitting. According to the seller, the carpets are showing their age, and the back floor carpeting has faded. The seller reports that all of the gauges are functional, but the horn is not and neither are the wipers. The car has air conditioning that is not working and the same goes for the aftermarket CD audio system.
    CHASSIS
According to the seller, this Chevelle’s chassis and suspension are in good condition, with no known issues or needs. A number of the suspension components have reportedly been updated with performance parts and the brake system has been upgraded to Baer-based four-wheel discs with drilled-and-slotted rotors, reported to work well. The car rolls on BFGoodrich rubber that is said to be in good shape and appears to show 2015 manufacturing dates. Tires are mounted on polished 15-inch American Racing wheels that are showing their age, with some pitting and a dulled finish. The seller also reports some curb rash on them.
    DOCUMENTATION
The selling states that he will provide a clean California title in his name. A 1972 Chevrolet Chevelle is timeless like a good pair of jeans, and just as comfortable on cruise night. For the enthusiast looking for a turnkey, nitrous-assisted cruiser or the starting point for a higher-level project, this example appears solid, but with a few items identified that need attention.
