Fun fact: the tau have had exactly 1 fully automous crisis suit. It was a member of farsight's "the eight" and seems to have been the very first. I do hope the farsight enclaves eventually start getting more of those to differentiate themselves, perhaps working in cooperation with the leagues and risking corruption by vashtorr.

Just because the gods don't feed on their souls doesn't mean they're just ignored.
The tau have always fascinated me because, ideologically, they have the most “realistic” goal: peace and developmental stability in a world beset by, well, not those things. Would’ve loved a little touch on the existence of Tau’Va, the new Warp apparition that trapped a Death Guard capital ship in a wormhole, but I just finished the Shadowsun book so that’s top of my mind. Great vid!

Obviously the Tau that incorporate the Warp into their understanding of the world will agree that theirs is a naive species-- but that is the blessing of naivety. Ignorance truly is bliss, and that is a theme of the 40k universe that the Tau are used to display time and again.

I was surprised that neither of the boys compared Crisis suits to Gundam, because usually that's the first comparison peeps make to convey the general idea, and with all the Japanese influence the T'au have, it tracks. But then Koda compared them to armored cores and honestly it works better.

Fly by wire is such a cool system once you start looking into the schematics. Sure it's simple (well, "simple") compared to 4th and 5th gen fighters and anyone with lvl 2 common sense can make an educated guess at how it works, but it's still really cool
Tau aren't just slightly behind the Votann in tech. Some of the best tech the Tau possess is old tech that the Votann considered outdated enough to sell to them.

The tau do actually have full A.I. The ethereal supreme Aun'Va (Leader of the Empire) is an AI engram of the original living person who died from an imperial assassin. Farsight's old mentor died and was brain scanned and turned into an AI engram, his name was Oblotai. He ends up piloting battlesuits as an AI, typically an XV88. Shadowsun also has her own AI attendants, her guardian drone and command drone, which have their own personalities. Theyre pretty much everywhere.
On the topic of pilots feeling pain when their machines are damaged: Imperial Titans also have that "feature" and it is often mentioned how this deeply cuts into the life expectancy of a princeps. It also leads to many of them being sealed in tanks filled with amniotic fluids. In the Horus Heresy book "Mechanicum", Princeps Cavalerio witnesses the death of his Titan and next time we see him, he has been permanently entombed in such a tank.

I have been watching allot of the older videos at work and something was said that I have a new head cannon for So I have a theory based off something koda had said in a previous episode it was about the deep warp. He said that's were things come from like primel feelings like hunger and stuff probably some from. Well my head cannon is that the tyrianids are that hunger or at least being controlled by that hunger.
I actually had a very similar thought recently as well! Although it does seem strange that if it is some kind of warp creature similar to a chaos god that it is able to fully manifest within the materium seemingly innately. Maybe they act as worship to it?
Someone has probably come up with this before but I've always thought that it might not be a coincidence that the T'au have a bovine appearance and also have a weak connection to the warp. I believe they were bred that way by the ethereals like cattle and that might explain why they are forced into castes, because it would limit genetic diversity and lower the chance of mutation keeping the tau stunted. I've always thought that they have the appearance they do because GW was drawing a parallel to how we treat cattle.

You have it backwards. The navy definitionally made a railgun - since the projectile is accelerated via an armature. A railgun is a much simpler device than a coilgun, and we likely won’t see useful coilguns for a lot longer.

One of my favorite things about tau is that when you really think about it, they're the LEAST crazy thing in 40k. Like their stuff just kind of makes sense. Using VR for training, the way they treat and handle machinery, computers and innovation. From a real world view, you read about how something happens with them and you're just like "ok yeah, makes sense. I can fathom how someone would logically come to that result without thinking too hard"
I love my little blue fish boys and their mecha. Y’all said it best, they’re probably the best interpretation of modern humans in the setting (just with better tech). Also I just really love painting those Crisis Suits lol
Ok I love you guys and have been following the channel for around a year. And I'm most likely part of the silent minority that's barely subscribed, eventually likes and isn't a patron. But last 3 40K episodes have been disappointing to me. I love your banter, I truly do. But the technical quality of the content really dropped. You serve a topic, introduce it, 3 tangents further along with some theory then go slightly back on it and call it a day. I get that Coda understands and might have dug on his own on the addressed topics. But fully exploring the theme is also what I'm here for. And right now it is too messy for me to enjoy the content enough to stick around much longer. Just an opinion if that's what works for you/want to become it's okay and I can't understate how much success I wish you guys keep having. Have a nice day anyway!

Let me correct and expand on a few things: Autonomous suits - there's at least one. Oblotai is an Engram of a dead tau who was a friend of Farsight and now he exists as an AI uploaded in a Broadside suit. Crisis suits pilot are elite - not really. After a squad leader finishes his exams, he can go to be a Fireblade or to wear a Mantle of Heroes. So, they're like sergeants. Ghostkeel and Riptide pilot are elite. You forgot to mention about the most metal thing: there is human operated Crisis suit. At least one was mentioned in a short story. Tau Drones are Autonomous enough to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Their intelligence is changing from book to book.
I think the only real "trip and fall" that could happen with Tyranids, is somehow another Hive Mind develops and is antagonistic towards the original. Might have happened before and the original just consumes them, or maybe the original is fleeing that. Other than that, Orkz and Necrons are probably their biggest threat - if motivated enough. Since mushroom and steel.

Someone has probably come up with this before but I've always thought that it might not be a coincidence that the T'au have a bovine appearance and also have a weak connection to the warp. I believe they were bred that way by the ethereals like cattle and that might explain why they are forced into castes, because it would limit genetic diversity and lower the chance of mutation keeping the tau stunted. I've always thought that they have the appearance they do because GW was drawing a parallel to how we treat cattle.

The tau also stabilized plasma. All their pulse weapons are stabalized plasma. And their plasma rifles on suits too. Something the imperium has yet to.

You have it backwards. The navy definitionally made a railgun - since the projectile is accelerated via an armature. A railgun is a much simpler device than a coilgun, and we likely won’t see useful coilguns for a lot longer.

One of my favorite things about tau is that when you really think about it, they're the LEAST crazy thing in 40k. Like their stuff just kind of makes sense. Using VR for training, the way they treat and handle machinery, computers and innovation. From a real world view, you read about how something happens with them and you're just like "ok yeah, makes sense. I can fathom how someone would logically come to that result without thinking too hard"

Ok I love you guys and have been following the channel for around a year. And I'm most likely part of the silent minority that's barely subscribed, eventually likes and isn't a patron. But last 3 40K episodes have been disappointing to me. I love your banter, I truly do. But the technical quality of the content really dropped. You serve a topic, introduce it, 3 tangents further along with some theory then go slightly back on it and call it a day. I get that Coda understands and might have dug on his own on the addressed topics. But fully exploring the theme is also what I'm here for. And right now it is too messy for me to enjoy the content enough to stick around much longer.
Just an opinion if that's what works for you/want to become it's okay and I can't understate how much success I wish you guys keep having. Have a nice day anyway!

Let me correct and expand on a few things:
Autonomous suits - there's at least one. Oblotai is an Engram of a dead tau who was a friend of Farsight and now he exists as an AI uploaded in a Broadside suit.
Crisis suits pilot are elite - not really. After a squad leader finishes his exams, he can go to be a Fireblade or to wear a Mantle of Heroes. So, they're like sergeants. Ghostkeel and Riptide pilot are elite.
You forgot to mention about the most metal thing: there is human operated Crisis suit. At least one was mentioned in a short story.
Tau Drones are Autonomous enough to sacrifice themselves for the greater good. Their intelligence is changing from book to book.

I think the only real "trip and fall" that could happen with Tyranids, is somehow another Hive Mind develops and is antagonistic towards the original. Might have happened before and the original just consumes them, or maybe the original is fleeing that. Other than that, Orkz and Necrons are probably their biggest threat - if motivated enough. Since mushroom and steel.
