The biggest problem in Portugal is paying rent. The country is perfect for those who can buy a property. I recommend leaving the Lisbon (Cascais, Estoril, Sintra, etc.) and Porto (Matosinhos, Vila Nova de Gaia, etc.) regions, as they are already very expensive.
On the other hand, there is no point in choosing a very small city, as you would lose the infrastructure facilities.
The Algarve is a very touristic region. It gets crowded in the summer, and there is a lack of services outside of high season.
I still prefer Braga. The city has great infrastructure (hospitals, shopping malls, schools, restaurants, events, etc.), but with a lower rental or purchase cost compared to Lisbon or Porto.
The city doesn't have a subway, but it's still easy to get around. You will be a 50-minute drive from Porto, the beach (Esposende) or the mountains (Parque Nacional do Gerês) or the International Airport (Sá Carneiro in Maia).
The choice will always depend on the expectations of each family. There are other "medium-sized" options such as the regions of Aveiro, Coimbra and Setúbal. With any of these options, you will be less than two hours from Porto or Lisbon.
Apart from the cost of property, other expenses don't vary that much from city to city in Portugal, except in the Algarve where everything is more expensive during the summer.
The second biggest expense is grocery expenses (400 to 500 euros for a family consisting of a couple and 2 children).

Ah ah ah, I live (and work!)with the basic portuguese income in PT. It's always hilarious to watch those videos 😂 might be interesting for people with a high income, huge savings or people with a regular (and non portuguese)pension to move and live here. But apparently this is the case in most countries right now.

This renting prices is the same as USA. 2 bedrooms apt in California is about from $2,000 up and people are struggling to pay. Why would somebody run away from USA to Portugal to pay same cost. Problem for another problem?

If you leave Lisbon or Porto, you can rent a good three-bedroom apartment for half this price. Many people prefer Portugal for the change in lifestyle (security, cultural diversity, less political confusion, calmer pace of life, etc.).

You should budget at least 15 - 20 euros per day for adequate quality food intake for 1 human. About 500 euros per month for supplements/peptides. 500 - 1000 for rent or mortage in a decent place, most likely in a shared house. About 60 - 120 for private health insurance. 500 - 750 more per month if you want to have a good car and drive it (unless you buy one). About 100 - 200 for entertainment, 60 for transportation if you dont have a car.

Are you sure about what you told in this vídeo, specially of what concerns about portuguese lifestyle?
You are not aware about portuguese living issues. People are sturuggling about what they earn per month, that isn't enough about what they spent.
Poverty increases in a blink of an eye and the government doesn't do anything to help the majority of the portuguese people.

@@RemoteLifePt Lack of opportunities in the game development industry, forced me to have to try other countries.
Lived in Germany for a few years, and now we're in California, USA.
I don't regret having left, I've learned a lot about other cultures, and I'm a more enlightened and knowledgeable person now, however I do miss my home country every single day.
Fortunately the world is changing, and I've become a Internet digital nomad myself, so less and less it doesn't really matter where you live to do what I do, so we're slowly but surely plan our return in 2 to 4 years. Where I intend to help better the country, hopefully open a small studio where I could offer opportunities to young people so they wouldn't forcefully need to abandon their country, if they don't want to.
