  • Fadu presented an overview of the NVMe SSD controller platforms for PCIe 5.0 and briefly teased the upcoming 6.0 product family. Energy efficiency in hyperscale data centers is crucial for reducing operating costs and minimizing environmental impact. One key metric for data center SSDs is performance per watt in the active state, as these drives often operate continuously under heavy workloads. Optimizing SSD controllers and reducing their power consumption can achieve significant energy savings at the server and rack levels. Fadu has industry-leading energy efficiency.
    Flexible Data Placement (FDP) is a technology that optimizes data placement within SSDs to enhance their performance, endurance, and capacity utilization. FDP achieves this by grouping similar data together, which reduces the Write Amplification Factor (WAF), a key metric that measures the ratio of actual NAND flash writes to the amount of data written by the host system. By reducing WAF, FDP minimizes unnecessary write operations, leading to faster write speeds, prolonged SSD lifespan, and overall improved storage efficiency.
